Star Wars Battlefront II - Kamino Cutscene Comparison

- A comparison between the Kamino cutscene from the PS2 demo and the version found in the final release of the game. This video was originally posted on March 21st but was unlisted. However, I figured I'd just post it publicly to bring more attention to this cutscene as the previous video was a compilation of everything found in the INGAME.MVS file, so this cutscene may have been missed if someone decided not to watch the entire video (understandably since most of the cutscenes weren't changed too much). I thought this was a really cool discovery since it features previously unheard dialogue from Temuera Morrison and I personally prefer the dialogue from the original version over the "new" dialogue (which was really just re-recorded dialogue from the Space Kamino cutscene with a line about Boba Fett tacked onto the end of it).
“The first few kills were the hardest. After all, it’s hard not to get a little spooked when the enemy screams with your voice.”
"But we shook it off and did our jobs. Most of the troopers never knew about Kamino. Like a lot of things in the Empire, it never really happened."
TGT Terrorizor340 that’s the fucked up part. Imagine all the horrible things the empire did in the dark that the rest of the galaxy never knew about.
damn that hits hard
They should have kept it in. That shit was dark
*To this day, I can't understand what motivated our creators to rise up against us. Had they gone mad? Had we failed them in some way? In the end, it really didn't matter. The Kaminoans had to be stopped and their army of treacherous gene cousins destroyed. The first few kills were the hardest. Afterall, it's hard not to get a little spooked when the enemy screams with your voice. We shook it off and did our job. Most of the troopers never knew about Kamino. Like a lot of things in the Empire, it never really happened.*
The original cutscene is downright chilling.
right - I don't know how anyone thought that this wasn't good enough to make it to the production copy of the game
@@Zoomer3989 when you make a game it shouldn't be good enough it should be perfect so it satisfies the majority
also, this intro was meant for the space Kamino mission that never occurred, Restrictions perhaps
oh, it’s you.
@@xewii Do I know you?
@@Double-R-Nothing im from the discord, surey my silly cat pfp jogs your memory
I love one detail the most in this.
The 501st trooper disconnects the clones they are gunna fight. In battle he called the clones "brothers" but when their on the other end of the gun their "cousins" shows a distancing so it becomes more impersonal.
"Like a lot of things in the empire, it never really happened."
That was the cherry on top to this dialogue.
"To this day, I can't understand what motivated our creators to rise up against us. Had they gone mad?. Have we failed them in some way?. In the end, really didn't matter. The Kaminoians had to be stopped and their army of traitorous gene cousins destroyed, The first few kills were the hardest. After all, it’s hard not to get a little spooked when the enemy screams with your voice. We shook it off and did our job. Most of the troopers never knew about Kamino. Like a lot of things in the empire, it never really happened..."
This shit is great. God I wish games were good again.
Found the original one better. It provides alot more characterization to the clones.
Bad Batch/Disney: "Officially, there never was a clone rebellion on Kamino."
Legends: "unoffically..."
Fuck Disney Star Wars.
Oh yeah.
I forgot The Bad Batch did that so early. 😐
Good goin’, guys.
cause it is moved to another place, now the canon clone rebellion will take place on Tantis
@@marco002But man…
Kamino was their home. If the rebellion happened,it should have been on kamino .
The saddest thing is that the narrator is so loyal to the Empire, he can't understand that the Kaminoans are trying to fight for their freedom (yes, I know it's hypocritical on their part, considering they had bred the clone army for profit).
I like to think these are both canon, I love them both! The second one definitely fits the space battle, while the first one is absolutely amazing and perfect for the ground battle.
At least before “The Great Disney Cannon Purge”
I hate the new "cannon" on bad batch
that dialogue was hard man, i like it
Idc what anyone says. This is canon to me. Lucas had a lot of invovlement in the EU that it's illogical to say he wasn't involved.
To me all the old stuff is canon. Not the silliness disney came out with
Lucas was the one who came up with the inhibitor chips
The clone troopers in phase 1 armor are like ghost from the past.
Honestly, the cut dialogue is horrifying and sad when you think about it. The narrator is possibly the last of his kind in the Imperial Military and he finally goes back to his childhood home. Not to reminisce over his childhood before being deployed, but to kill himself, his creators and destroy his home, all the while hearing himself scream. And it must be horrifying and sad for Boba as well considering he has to not only kill copies of himself and the Kamonians whom he saw as family, but help destroy the place where he and his father had their last happy moments together.
PS it doesn't help that the clone and Boba probably also had to wipe out the children and babies as well.
Damn I would have preferred the original version better
Oof, that original scene was chilling. I wish we had something like that for the official release...
Absolutely love the beta cutscene, just wish they had Temura re-record the original dialogue. The other beta cutscenes suffer from having stilted delivery, unlike the release ones. It feels like Temura didn't know where the emphasis should be on words, and was just sounding it out for the first time. Wish we had a "final take" version of the beta lines.
I love Rock and Roll Part 3! What a wild crossover
I actually like the cut version better. It feels more emotional, and states the conflict of the clones. It’s even more disturbing how he refers to them as “cousins” and not “brothers”. Showing how far apart they are, and an attempt to rationalize the killing
I can't believe that the destruction of tipoca city was heartbreaking when we saw it in the recent episode of the bad batch. And now we look back at what we thought it was really going on at kamino a decade ago.
The worse part was seeing all the empty room that once housed troopers.
@@ironknightcinema clones were on the destroyers, THEY destroyed their own home.
the original is so good! i would say almost as good as felucia and coruscant (but coruscant is still my favourite).
i would like to see what the campaign was originally. with the kamino mission, and if the other missions were different.
i get that there isn't any kaminoan star destroyer (the venators now belong to the empire, and are getting replaced by the newer star destroyers, unless by then, kaminoans still had some left), but i would really like them to have space kamino in some way.
About Space Kamino, the map is still in the files. It's very incomplete but there's parts of a Venator present so it seems they were just going to use the Venators in the mission. Interestingly, the mini-map looks like the ones from the original Battlefront with blue colors and those borders around the map. However, the mini-map is missing the scanlines that were in SWBF1 so it isn't 100% the same.
Definitely agree about the Kamino cutscene! The dialogue is perfect, as is Morrison's narration.
DylanRocket that is interesting, i thought the minimap was completely replaced for the game. also, it is a bit dissapointing that it is a venator, but it is perfectly fine as it makes no sense to make an entirely new ship. i wish it was left, the cutscenes are way better originally. amazing. i guess it's so close to the mustafar mission it didn't make much sense to keep it, which is sad. is there any way you could get footage of the map?
and maybe could you upload the 501st journal but replace kamino and any cutscenes that were better originally. i think only kamino and naboo had a significant change, and i don't know if naboo would fit with the normal end cutscene. (so keep the rest that are better now) of course, if it isn't too much effort.
I can definitely record gameplay of the map. It turns out the PS2 Public Demo actually has the campaign scripts for the map so that'll be really cool to see.
As for the 501st journal, do you mean you want me to upload a new INGAME.MVS with the old Kamino and Naboo scenes? I can certainly try to do that when I get the chance. It shouldn't be too hard, in theory. Honestly, I actually wasn't even aware that the Naboo cutscene was changed (aside from adding video of course) so that's pretty cool.
DylanRocket the naboo originally seems to have had the trooper saying that he had to make sure there was no way to track the assassination of the queen back to the empire, while now he says "it was the first time the 501st was sent to adjust a planet's goverment"
also, does it have scripts for all missions? if so, it could be interesting to see if any mission is different. if you find anything, please tell it, and maybe make videos on the missions with the biggest changes.
also, i basically meant the normal full 501st journal, just replace kamino with the 2 current cutscenes and add the normal ending for it. if it's too much effort then don't, i just would like to see how it would fit in with the ones we got.
Yeah he also mentions that it was a solo mission, which is funny because the rest of the 501st is there too. Also, it seems possible that the decision to scrap Space Kamino was made on or near June 24th, 2005 according to missionlist.lua.
Man this hits even more when you consider clone wars on how well that show humanized clones.
Bad Batch fear brought me here
After watching the bad batch this short of hurts.
god, I wish this was canon
It is if you don't care about what a corporation says is canon or not
Wow, this shit is awesome! I had great time playing that game back in the good ol' days!
This game is my heart
HUGE mistake getting rid of the first one. What were they thinking
I luv the original (btw sent from reddit)
Out of all the content in both continuities the early days of the empire in legends are undoubtly superior to the canon version, it's just better in every way.
Anyone here after watching the bad batch ?? They had to have some left over buildings for them to clone more soldiers, I wonder if most of the team dies while omega and I’d assume hunter survive and they clone themselves here after the long time of cloning????? And omega rules the cloning facility against the empire and what if they make that book of boba fett (may be prequel related) is where he’s on this mission live action and have him fight omega in that episode ... what do you think ?
I think this all sounds a little far fetched
@@just_koop not really
@@imsolittt8595 Other than the first part, everything else sounds so silly.

I wonder if the inhibitor chips influenced the way the clones were feeling, after the Coruscant mission, the 501st Veteran's journal felt like there was less emotion , as if he was writing about what he did in contrast to what he actually felt about the battle?
Wow that is chilling but fitting.
Is there more cutscenes from battlefront 2 that didn’t make it to the final product?
But aren’t the imperial stormtroopers themselves descended from clones???
Were there any removed missions besides Space Kamino?
There is some text for an Endor mission, but the strange thing about it is that it's from the Rebels perspective. Maybe it's from an older version of the campaign that focused on the Rebel Alliance instead of the 501st. That was the only cut mission other than Space Kamino that I could find anything on though.
Hello! I have a question when it is shown in the first cinematography it shows ''clone troopers in phase 1 armor'', could someone tell me if it was only shown in the cinematography? or if there was the campaign with the clone troopers with the typical armor of phase 1 and without the modified armor shown in the official version.
Was there a deleted post-mission monologue as well?
There isn't unfortunately. This build didn't seem to have the post-mission cutscenes yet. There are subtitles for a post-mission cutscene for Space Kamino though: "Our new TIE fighters quickly outmatched the old ARC170s of our rebellious cousins. As we zoomed to the planet's surface, we braced ourselves for what would surely be the strangest battle of our lives."
@@DylanRocket Thanks for that.
@@DylanRocket I never knew that - thank you! do any other missions have cut post-game scripts?
Crazy how none of this is cannon 💀 disney is really lame
There’s still a chance of this happening in Bad Batch season 2.
Not on Kamino...
@@Boom__6678 obviously

I watched the Bad Batch. By the end of the first episode, they had already gone AWOL. There is no nuance, it's all black-and-white. It was way too predictable. I gave it a chance, and was disappointed.
It's like the writers for the show came up with a checklist of "evil deeds" to motivate the Bad Batch's desertion, just so they didn't have to do an Imperial POV.
The Bad Batch will never live up to this kind of thought-provoking writing.
@@mitchellhayward6492 Always good to know when someone has shit taste. Not everything needs nuance,
Why didn't the empire in battlefront 2 2005("legends") just bomb kamino from orbit. It would have been a lot quicker.
Didn't the empire want the labs and DNA to keep cloning or something
@@adamcruz3012 I'm not 100 percent sure but I think the empire was planning to do future cloning on other worlds and they were going to use a more diverse clone template.
@@adamcruz3012 That's correct. They facilities were incredibly advanced, there was no reason to destroy it. In fact, it can't be destroyed because they're used in the Force Unleashed games for the Starkiller clones.
😢
I wonder why it was changed… was it considered too chilling/disturbing for a T rated game?
Nice chatgpt video.
It was really nice of the ChatGPT devs to give me early access to it six years ago just to make a fake Battlefront 2 video.
