After using Cubase for 15 years, I just grew tired of things taking a few extra steps than I thought it should. Making music became almost academic. After looking into different options, Studio One ticked all of the boxes. User friendly, but powerful, great user interface and most of all, fun. I'm actually having fun making music again. You really seem like you listen to feedback, which shows. Thanks guys!
The tempo track can also also be used to change the tempo of existing tracks. This, combined with the transpose function, provides an easy way to test drive different keys and speeds on existing scratch tracks. Record once, hear many variations to determine the best combination. Even throw in a modulation on the final chorus by simply transposing that section. It works like magic.
You and Gregor explain things so fantastic. I'm so happy that I changed over from Samplitude to Studio one. Such a service and the sphere version is worth every dime!
Ive been using all these tools since I got version 4.5 and they've helped so much in making my workflow not only faster but it helps so much for the creating process. Ive started recording new songs with only 4 chords and a harmony in my head and in 20mins built a 2-3 minute song. Like always, great video and great advice! You rock Joe and your videos on presonus and your own channel are the only reason I get notifications from RUclips 😁
Recently I did a huge live recording session of a local folklore choir of 25 people with five live instruments (including a small drum kit) playing at the same time in one big room. Everything was placed in one song, no tempo matching at all. We had to work fast, so I chose to go this way. A lot of bleed (mostly good sounding bleed), but mixing was not that hard. It was a great learning experience, and the mixes ended up sounding pretty good. The choir master loved the sound and the feel of the recording.
*IMPORTANT:* 11:40 don't forgot to click _Copy external files..._ from _Song_ in the window top left menu, so that the files you copy pasted inside Studio One from the first song to the second song are duplicated into the second song's media folder. If you don't _Copy external files..._ and you delete files in the first song they will be lost in the second song.
joe, we love you !!. please.. how did you manage to lock all of your musicians into the pre-set track tempo for the initial recordings? it is one thing to know what the song tempo is for you as the producer, but the musicians/performers are a different story every time i try this, the musicians are all over the place, and I have to spend three days adjusting the length of every single bar. note: they hate, and will never follow a click track/metronome.
and moreover...what would be a great improvement and what I have been waiting for a long time in Studio one, would be the possibility to SKIP a section as you can do in Logic Pro
Great video. We do it pretty much like you do it, in our band. Thanks for info. You give me more tools again I can work on, in Elephant studio in Denmark
Hi Joe, I have a studio one 4, I recorded a song, anytime I open the song it plays fast and slow from start to finish. Please can you tell me what's wrong?
Great video as always Joe. I've learned a ton from you in the past couple years and I really appreciate it. For the record, I think it's "ducks in a row" or "eggs in one basket", although I say if you have all your eggs in a row you're really killing it.
Off-topic...how did you get that circle around your mouse cursor? I don't see as well as I used to and I *NEED* that. On-topic, thanks for all your video advice and help. I'm releasing a completely self-produced/created ep soon, I've never done this before and have very little recording experience. It's coming out better than I expected and couldn't have done it without your help.
Joe: If you're tweaking tempos, you can change the tempo in the tempo track and Studio One will timeshift, so you can avoid recording more than one version?
hi Joe thanks for the video. The possibility to duplicate an entire section using the label in the arranger track is great but.... it's a pity that you CANNOT use these same labels to REMOVE / DELETE a section from your song !
@@805MOE what I am talking about doesn’t involve a loop. If you start playback with the “end” marker at the end of your song, does playback stop at that marker or will playback continue even though there is nothing to be played? If you right click on a marker that you have inserted there is a box you can check to “stop at marker.” This option is not available on the “end” marker. It’s simple to add my own end marker and click the box but I’m curious as to why this is not an option or even the default process for the default end marker.
Sorry, now I understand your question. My theory is that the Start and the End markers are just to define the export range, so there is no need to put a stop at the End. However you still can export a few seconds of silence after all music has gone by setting a stop playback check at the last marker before the End marker.

Another trick learned by this old dog...!! Many thanks!

Ducks... ducks in a row, Joe, ha!
your enthusiasm is contagious Thank you
Studio one is the best. ....... You are as well Joe.
Can I say, your explanations and the pace of your explanations are so easy to listen to and so helpful. Thank you. R
Thank you BIG much Gman. I may B able 2 slip away and cu in Nashville. This lesson came at just the right ⌚.
Hey Joe - I've got the purple version of that shirt... nice! Great video, too 🙂
2:35 If you drag to the right the tracks section they also appear on top!!!! ✌🏻😉
Another succinct, easy to understand vid. Thanks!

Thanks Joe, this was super valuable!
thank you , very instructive
What is the name of the command to set Start/End markers to selection? I cannot find it. Thanks.
I just realized that it has a signature track. That's something that I was looking for to run a click track.

awesome video!! thank you!!
I keep getting an error (301) when trying to open studio 1 for the 1st time. I wrote support 2 weeks ago and no response. Any thoughts?
Hi, thanks for all usefull videos!
One request please, add the ability to duplicate bus, this feature is in all daws.
Splendid.

You said Command + Y the first time :-) I figured it was option Y
Ha! One of the songs I’m working on now is 87bpm! 😂
Good tips. Thanks !
That's helpful Joe... Thanks

2:25 before we find out what any of the tools are.
Good stuff here... thx Joe!
Great video 👍👍

You might be able to do that by highlighting the section and, instead of deleting, use the ripple function to close the gap???
Has the option to select “stop playback” been added to the end marker? If not, why?
wouldn't you just not loop your playback ?
Has been there for a long time.

@@ivanrojasreischel interesting, the option is not there for me and I am running the latest version.

love the "i'm just some youtuber, i'm learning with the audience together" vibe
