- This is my part 1 overview of the new and exciting CL_RacingF4S flight controller where I discuss it's technical and physical specifications, along with the boards layout and capabilities. In the second video I will discuss and show how to wire up this specific board to get everything working in your multirotor, including the new and exciting FPV camera control feature that lets you change the settings in your FPV camera through the Betaflight on screen display.
Here are some links to more information on this board, along with some excellent vendors that you can purchase this flight controller through:

Love the look & layout of this FC
Thanks for the clear review.
Thanks for the review and info. Just a tip for other videos, a concise script or guide to keep on point may aid you in taking a video like this from 13mins to probably 5 or so. I know I stumble around with words and topics in my head if I try to make it up as I go. Keep up the good work.
Ackevor- Lol I did have a list and flow chart of this boards features and what I was going to discuss, but it seemed too scripted so I flew off the handle and rambled a bit to sound more genuine. Thanks for the suggestions and watching.
I have a Flysky Fs-i6 transmitter and receiver. I would like to wire the receiver to the flight controller in a way that utilizes PPM. The GND and POS wire make sense to me, but where would the signal wire go for PPM? I appreciate any help you may be able to give!
Looks nearly perfect! Only thing missing, ESC telemetry and ground pads.
Enrique Rumbo - Fully agreed, but you always have the option of wiring esc telemetry into any rx uart, and using any of the common ground pads for esc signal ground.
im begging for you to release the second part of this fc for the wiring
How would I go about connecting an ibus receiver to this board?
Which pads do I use for crossfire
I just built my first FPV drone with CL_RACING F4S AND FRSKY XSR. And my controller is not working. I included what I have done below. After doing all this, when I move my throttle etc, nothing is being received by headlight. Please help. The only thing I seem to come up with is the data being inverted. But not sure. I added what I did in the previous post
I have this fc. When I’m landing and the quad makes even light contact with the ground it flips out. Is this normal? I’ve seen quads do demonstrations of ground effect when they bounce lightly on the ground trying to maintain a 2 inch hover. Mine completely flips out if I attempt this.
Not sure on your build plans but I’d love to see you hook it up to a 4 in 1 esc.
HYEonDEATHROW - If you have airmode enabled and active these boards do tend to flip out a bit, maybe try to recalibrate your accelerometer to see if it calms down the effect at all. I've also seen some people mention an anti-crash feature on the newer Betaflight firmware that may cause that effect as well, but I haven't experienced this flipping out with my board when coming in contact with the ground yet.

I only fly in acro but I would have to check and see if airmode is enabled on betaflight. When you say "active" do you mean flying in airmode? I have never flown this board in airmode if so. I will disable the accelerometer to completely remove calibration and see if that works. I have 3 of these boards but only one in use. I’d really like to fix this issue. Thank you for your content and your fast reply!
HYEonDEATHROW - Yeah I mean when the airmode tab is enabled in the configuration tab. Maybe try flying with it and without it to see if it fixes your problems.
HYEonDEATHROW you should always be flying with airmode on, try putting air mode and disarm on the same switch.
GrumpyMadman yep learn when to cut throttle, is best and less steps.
Which uart for sbus?
r-xsr to cl racing f4s wiring, can someone direct me on where undertsnad and learn the f4 uninverted signal connections and betaflight setup tabs please ? would it be the same or different than connecting it to a xsr?
Is it possible to use a ppm receiver with this board??? I don't c any ppm pads like the last cl racing f4 aio had
Nolan Gelinas - Everywhere I've looked at the board specs it doesn't mention the use of a ppm based receiver, but I'll see if I can find an answer to that question.
SteelRainFPV ok thanks for looking. I looked for a while last night as well and couldn't find anything mentioning ppm. Kind of a strange design decision. Almost like Apple removing the headphone jack from the 7... Guess I have a good excuse to get a new transmitter and receiver
Nolan Gelinas - Yeah you would think that they would make it backwards compatible, but if anything I think a ppm receiver would work on any rx uart if you soldered the signal wire to it and set it up in Betaflight, but I don't think a ppm receiver will work on the sbus pad due to it's hardware configuration.
SteelRainFPV you mean I wouldn't be able to use the sbus pad because it's hardware inverted? Does that mean I might be able to use one of the uarts on the bottom (uart1 or 6)? Also would I need to do something weird with betaflight since it is not technically configured for ppm?
Nolan Gelinas - To my knowledge that is correct, and it should work on one of the other rx uarts, you just need to set it to ppm in the configuration tab of Betaflight, but let me verify it with the boards designer before proceeding.
Great video.. Im trying to use crossfire receiever with this anybody know. Where to connect tge receiver?
oscar alarcon any free uart rx and tx
What's the best ESC combo for this with high KV motors? 2722kv?
GostFalconFPV - That is really up to personal preference since most esc's are pretty decent nowadays, but I prefer the Spedix and HobbyWing 4 in 1 esc's personally, and the new DYS Aria esc's are also pretty good for stand alone individual esc's.
Do you know what the amperage scale needs to be set to. Betaflight 3.2.2 amperage scale is 250 by default and i was wondering if thats correct. I just installed this in the hyperlow with 15mm standoffs and some hypetrains.
Splinter Fpv - I haven't had the time to calibrate this flight controllers current sensor properly with a clamp meter yet, so I don't know how accurate that number is.
SteelRainFPV thanks for responding so quickly 👍
Splinter Fpv - No problem man, I should be calibrating this flight controller in a new 6" inch long range cruiser build within the next couple of weeks, so I'll post my scaling numbers here once it's complete.
SteelRainFPV that would be awesome. I look forward to your future videos.....I did find the orig. cl racing f4 looks to be set at 254 per rcgroups forum.. This may be a good starting point.
Splinter Fpv - Sounds good, it looks like that default 250 number isn't far off from the 254 number guys are using on RcGroups.
tx4 isnt for controlling "any vtx" its for smart audio for use with any vtx that utilizes smart audio
Ohmega 355 - Thanks for pointing that out, I was reading the features and pinout list from the Armattan website and didn't catch that, but it's already been rectified in my second setup video of this flight controller.
How much does this fc weight
Joshua Lonas - 8 grams with the rubber grommets.
(Wired)
SBUS From XSR to SBUS on CL_Racing F4s FC
Smarport from XSR to TELE on CL_Racing F4s FC
(PORTS)
UART1 set serial RX on
UART3 set Telemetry output to Smartport
(Betaflight)
In CONFIGURATION
set RECEIVER MODE to Serial Based Receiver
Set Serial Receiver Provider to SBUS
(Receiver)
Channel map set to FrSky
DEAN SCHREIBER - Have you bound your xsr to your radio, tried a different receiver to verify it's not a receiver problem, enabled the serial based receiver function on the proper uart in the ports tab??? It appears that you have everything soldered up and connected correctly, since the sbus pad is an uninverted uart made for FrSky. I'll take a look at my specific setup to see if I can't help you troubleshoot further, but let me know if any of the above mentioned work out.
SteelRainFPV I did all the above. I have another new xsr I tried. The same issues. I have never been so frustrated. I even reflashed the receiver, radio and FC.🎧
DEAN SCHREIBER - Have you tried turning off the serial receiver option in the ports tab and enabling on another uart one at a time? Sometimes the uarts in Betaflight don't correspond to the flight controller's numbers. Try to change the uart that you have the serial receiver option checked on one at a time, and make sure you save in the ports tab and double check the sbus serial function is still checked in the configuration tab and saved before you test them out one by one.
P.s how's the give away going.
Wade Stewart - Which giveaway are you referring to?
SteelRainFPV the flysky radio
Wade Stewart - I think you have me confused with another RUclipsr, I don't even have a FlySky radio in my possession to give away.
SteelRainFPV yes so sorry someone else.
ESC telemetry?
Shawn Guess I'm not completely positive since I haven't used this feature yet, but from my understanding in the new Betaflight you can use an open uart for obtaining esc telemetry, but there's no designated esc telemetry pads for the individual esc's yet.
SteelRainFPV ah, thank you. Thanks good to know.
