Wow that's a lot of bad things to happen on one trip! Had you had your flu shot? I'm nearer to 70 years old and the only times I've had the flu was when I couldn't get a flu shot. Now, at my age, I get it in the arm early in the flu season and then again mid-season. Has kept me healthy so far as the flu is concerned. Anyway, that's a cool old heavy wrecker. The rust is kind of concerning, will be real interested to see how you bring the old beast back up to fighting (er, I mean ... "TOWING") trim!
Hey Rick, just a F YI I've owned a Ram 3500. And if you press the lock button or the unlock button several times it will roll your windows down. And if you're not standing beside it, you won't have a f****** clue. Just a suggestion to check Out
Y’all gotta call that truck Black Blandy!! Or keep it “Big Mo” or the “Big M” for Murphy…. lol. And hello from Saskatchewan 🇨🇦!! Been watching almost since the beginning. I operated a heavy wrecker for years and I still learn new things watching you.
dude it did not rust out sitting there it rusted out cause it was driven on salty roads the rust will be everywhere there are way nicer truck down south that cab is full of bondo get out while u can cut your losses and head back !!!!
Wrecker Rick I can’t say it enough. I’m glad your family is back home and doing better. The 351 is a gem brother, nice find. Can’t wait til the next video!
I cannot wait to see this project completed. But what really impressed me. With all the challenges you and the family had on this trip. You handled it like champs. Most people in today's world. Would have curled up in a corner and had a melt down. Kudos to you and the family.
I'm from Missouri, about 4 hours northeast of Springfield. State news said it almost got "WESTERN" in Springfield the other morning. Didn't know what they were talking about, but now I do LOL. Very eventful trip. Thanks!
1. Oh my word, what a trip! Glad everyone is feeling better now 2. The look Mrs. Wrecker Rick gave you when you said "Murphy's Law" after the hypothetical of having to buy a new truck.... GOLD 37:03 3. So glad you found the time lapse camera. Those shots were GREAT across the whole trip. We live in an amazing country my friend! 4. If you ever decide to buy that GMC, which was awesome... I'm in Illinois and perhaps could deliver it for ya!
Had a whole season like that at the lodge... boss hit my Suburban with a loader, three break-ins (2k$ total gear stolen/damage), gong show at the lodge for systems, injuries and flus... you have my sincere empathy.
Awesome video Wrecker Rick! Mrs Wrecker Rick driving all willy nilly mobbing around the country. She won a safe driving award! I vote to call the new rig"Deniro's Revenge" or "Blackbeard"
yeah, name it after a random employee of the tow company that might not even work there in couple year's time, awesome idea. you youtube reality tv addicts are fucking weird
Well you will never forget this trip, that is for sure. I bet you don't forget to roll the windows up on your truck again either! I was totally amazed that the truck actually started and ran with a little bit of help. Great video despite all the set backs. Get some rest and get over that bug. Thanks for taking us all along on your 'vacation' trip!
This the only channel I wont skip over the sponsored advertisements unlike Heavy D-ouches 300k Rv advertisements that run more than the actual video. lol Lil T-money & Lil Mad-dog just in the back big chilling. Congrats on the new purchases

When I was relocating houses in the 70's I purchased a brand new in the crate a 750 Holmes wrecker from Army surplus auction and mounted it on a single drive prime mover along with 2 deck mounted hydraulic winches with the pinned jib and stabilising legs it was unstoppable unit.
Thanks for sharing Rick and Nikki!! Really love your videos! You guys are such a nice couple, with two adorable girls! You guy are so lucky, but also so unlucky, the latter in regards to getting robbed, punctures etc. But you share it all, and thats why we love you guys and gals!!! You gotta name that rig BEOWULF when it is finished! Such a beast!! Best of luck! Love you! Best regards from Roy in Norway, Europe!!
I drive for a grocery out fit and spend a fair amount of time on the road. Quite often you see a big truck on the shoulder and can tell the driver is taking a squirt. So sorry for all the troubles y’all had on this trip!! I can’t remember what day it was but I was going to Joplin to pick up a set of wheels and tires, marketplace buy lol, and in between Sarcoxie and Joplin I believe, I seen this bearded fellow standing on the side of the highway and I also seen your truck and trailer with the wrecker on it on the frontage road and I said to myself……I swear that looks like Wrecker Rick……and lo and behold…….you put this video out……I wish now that I would’ve turned around and helped y’all out…..glad you found the camera and put the video out, probably my one and only chance of ever meeting the one and only WR, glad y’all made it home safely and can’t wait to see the ole Holmes working again. BTW, just went and purchased a hat for my ole bald head, keep on helping folks out with all you do with the tube channel and may you and your family always be richly blessed in return…..really enjoy all your content……🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I love the haul jerk lol, it never surprises me how I can get pulled over in the middle of nowhere for running 8MPH over the speed limit...but folks like that will cruise their entire journey and nothing happens to them lol.
Kudo's to the whole family! You guy's made Lemonade from all the lemons! It was laff out loud funny when you hit the fence backing up. Pour a little ATF and then some White Bottle Power Service in the Tank followed up by Grey Bottle Power Service, reskin the boxes put that truck to work! Outstanding Episode Throughout the Trying Times!
That was a bad trip, but I’m glad you guys are all healed up and got back home safely, you guys have a strong family bond , Merry Christmas and take care
Glad you folks made it home safe. Keep an eye on the Dovetail on your MaxxD. I bought 2 30k Dovetail MaxxD's for my HotshotBusiness, 6 months in they started developing cracks at the hinge in the deck. Hopefully they resolved that issue with the 40k
Oh my gosh! What a horrible trip!! One thing after another, but at least u guys r home safe. Can't wait to see what u do with the old wrecker. Know it will be great! The new trailer is awesome. BE SAFE
Back in the day someone climbed into that beautiful piece of American iron and felt the same exact way you did when you picked up that bad ass rotator, think it’s cool to think of those old dudes pushing that cool iron down the line in their day.
Glad you Guys made it home, sorry you Guys had such a bad week.. But, what's up with You Guys and Fab Rats getting old Peterbilt wreckers at the same time. On videos released on the same day.. You Guys competing for a build off? Love Y'all Mean it..
Hope you and your family is feeling better love seeing old vehicles brought back to life hope you show pt 2 and keep us updated on the progress ! I have no use for a thief so shame on the scumbags for stealing Wrecker Rick's wife's purse ! Naughty Naughty ! God Bless you all & Merry Christmas
Hey Rick !!! If you go back in your videos a yr, ago when you used the 7 ton to do the off road recovery, you'll see in the comments that you stated that you would put a ""HOLMES 750 "" on it , but now you have a 6 X 6 in the shop so guess that's where the 750 will end up when you get it back in service to run ??? Too bad for the worst trip to get the ""Pete"" ,but you & Family made it back home !!! With the trip that You & Family made to TN. was bad enough for sure when the motor blew on the Dodge Maintenance truck !!! Hope ALL are feeling better now ?? 👍👍👍👍👍
Another interesting project for the Murphys crew,, nice find,,hard to believe they didn’t find your cash,,all in all a win, win,,thanks for taking us along for the ride..pew pew 👍
Now that's a video that was worth the hard work getting it all together; what an adventure though. Flu often knocks people way off target Wrecker Rick, and you were lucky your wife was well on the outbound trip; and even she probably wouldn't have got a ticket if flu hadn't been involved either. Hope you got plenty of strong metal sheet to go where the rust is on that old wrecker. It will be so cool when you take it to shows and recoveries where people allow you to video. I never think a truck being rescued reflects bad on to company logo that owns it; it just shows that they're doing something practical about it and moving on.
That's a really cool old truck. Happy to see you pick it up and give it a second chance at life. Keeping that old iron alive in one form or another is something that needs to happen. Too bad about the rough trip, but a new trailer and a new truck with everyone recovering isn't a bad outcome.
Heck of a trip, hopefully the rebuild goes smoother. I generally run 2 to 3 mph over on the interstate, last ticket was 1981 or 1982, I am sure some cop having a bad day will get me someday. You got extremely lucky in Joplin, guns, cash, computers would have been really bad. The restaurant over the interstate was originally a Howard Johnson restaurant I believe, being from Oklahoma we ate there several times when going east, kids thought it was cooler than adults I imagine. Hopefully everyone has recovered and work is progressing on the truck.
12:32 - Wrecker Rick lookin like a lot wookie in the front seat 😅 Poor guy! But the fact that they tried to use your card at a dispensary is hilarious 😂😂😂 Thieves always take the weirdest stuff too, like I just had a wheel barrel get stolen .. nothing else, just a wheel barrel lol like what!?
they probably changed the booms to get rid of the old "webbed" booms (like the GMC had)....nothing wrong with those but the solid booms have a more modern look. Or....maybe theres some other reason, but thats the first thing that came to my mind. I started out with a C30 with a holmes 480 (with an addon pro-star wheel lift), similar bed but much smaller. I got it from a gov. auction, it was originally owned buy the post office in my area. Great truck. It was tough to use but man i kinda miss it-it never didnt get the job done
Hey Rick, glad y'all made it through! If ya can , give Jamie Davis , from Jamie Davis towing a buzz up there in BC. I'm sure you've seen his tow show back in the day. He is into the Holmes wreckers. He can probably hook you up with some info on the 650-700 boom combo. BTW Indiana Holmes is an Awesome name..
In 1980 when I learned how to tow that was the same wrecker body on my gas tractor at my duty station in Alaska. I was the Duty Tow Truck Driver for the Motorpool. Then after I got out I stopped towing in 2001. And started driving front end garbage trucks here in Florida. Now I drive a Lazy Boy!! Lol!!!
Great video...Sorry for your Mishaps etc...But i love you and the wife bantering....Hope things get better for yous....Stay safe and see you soon....Love the new trailer
I average 96 hours a week at work! I've updated/upgraded these Holmes Decks so the that the boom lock is electric and the booms are hydraulically rotated and the out riggers are hydraulically powered!
Probably the best video you have filmed . Your girls are too sweet thanks for the adventure. Yall personality’s are captivating and humor off the charts. Also your endorsement of ridge wallet the best I’ve seen on multi channels and your music was cool . Always watching Big Daddy
That was one heck of an adventure! I usually set the cruise 9 over the speed limit and never get pulled over here in NM. But I think it was the out of state plate that got you guys pulled over.
Glue some sort of tracker on the cameras you mount on the outside of anything or mount them in a way that it's impossible to fall off. You got super lucky finding it
That GMC was so cool ! What a bad ass truck. Never saw samething like that before. You can see I am from Europe, didn't even know GMC made trucks big like that. 😅
Around the time of the Vietnam war, US military units had that style wrecker for use on the US bases. Most had WeldBuilt wrecker units rated like a Holmes 750. A Beast for sure !
@@aljosaskrabelj8412 Not sure. 50 years ago but I think it was a 6500 detroit diesel powered. We had lots of Mud during monsun times. These wreckers pulled out just about everything they hooked up to.
@@jamesbroome1815 I did a bit of search. It looks like it is 1973- GMC 6500 by the look of a cab. So you ware right on the money. Named after engine series looks like. I wouldnt know where to start searching without that info. Thanks.
Wrecker Richard your health is the most important part of life. Take care of yourself we only have one chance at life. I always enjoy your videos my dear friend.
Wrecker Rick. Hell if you knew that was gonna be such a runner why didnt you drive that one home and throw the other one on the trailer!? COME ON MAN!!! 😅🤦🤣👌💪 That looked like a brutal ass trip, been there before! But ive learned its what you ultimately make of the trip and it looks like everyone had a fun time, and everyone was ready to be home!! Keep up the great content!! 💪
nice find on the old Peter car sorry about being sick out on the road sucks when you're sick not close to home. that motor is probably a 335 maybe a 290 a 350 should be after cooled
Hi there guys ilove the music you was playing on your way to pick up your truck it's a great looking old truck mate and I gant believe some Sumbags break in your truck And still your gear sumbags the hard work people got to Pay for it in the end I hope you Had a better run home guys
I've stopped at that McDonald's at Vinita many times driving charter buses and semis. It was our break stop running pony express runs from OKC to Mt Vernon, MO.
Try Zicam Lozenges. They work if you follow the directions. You guys are very trusting to leave all of those items in your truck. I'm amazed they didn't clear you out.
4:23 that officer has to have the record for oldest working law enforcement officer 🤣🤣ole lead foot Lisa and wrecker Rick is riding shotgun😎🤘🏻❤️much love from central Massachusetts!
Mrs Wrecker Rick wheeling that 40’ Gooseneck trailer is impressive all by itself. I’m thinking she should get a Ridge wallet in her Christmas stocking.
WOW! 😳 My goodness what a trip! Just you guys made it home safely with the kiddos.🙏🏽Get some rest and take care of yourself holmes😁 and don't take trips when you're not well because your less cautious and you make way more mistakes

Probably the best video you have filmed . Your girls are too sweet thanks for the adventure. Yall personality’s are captivating and humor off the charts. Also your endorsement of ridge wallet the best I’ve seen on multi channels and your music was cool . Always watching Big Daddy
Glad you enjoyed it!
I can't wait to see what you do with that wreaker!! I hope y'all feel better!!
You got super lucky finding it
Good idea, I’ll look into that!
Best watching on RUclips. Brilliant work Murphy's ☘️
Wow, thank you!
Ms Wrecker Rick, my hat off to you pulling 40’ trailer. Praying for y’all to recover
My dad used to build Holmes wrecker beds in Chattanooga TN back in the 70s. Pretty cool truck
@jamesbroome1815 Do you know what the model name for that GMC is?
Thank you for the support, I am trying to take good care of myself!
Rick, dude, you look rough man. Our family just went through the same bug this week. Miserable. Hope yur feeling better ol buddy
God was definitely watching out for you and your family. You’re so lucky! Bummer about your tires 😢
You bet! So grateful for that!
Hi there guys ilove the music you was playing on your way to pick up your truck it's a great looking old truck mate and I gant believe some
Sumbags break in your truck
And still your gear sumbags the hard work people got to
Pay for it in the end I hope you
Had a better run home guys
It was a wild trip, but we’re glad to be home!
Another kickass video Rick hope you and the family are doing better. Helluva trip
Appreciate it! We are doing much better, thanks for asking.
Glad you are all better and the videos are flowing again.
Appreciate the support!
I've stopped at that McDonald's at Vinita many times driving charter buses and semis. It was our break stop running pony express runs from OKC to Mt Vernon, MO.
Holy Moly! Bet you're glad that's over with! Hope you and the family get to feeling better real soon. Stay classy!
It was definitely an adventure and we’re all feeling much better now!
That is a perfect name for your project can not wait to see the finish project
Try Zicam Lozenges. They work if you follow the directions. You guys are very trusting to leave all of those items in your truck. I'm amazed they didn't clear you out.
4:23 that officer has to have the record for oldest working law enforcement officer 🤣🤣ole lead foot Lisa and wrecker Rick is riding shotgun😎🤘🏻❤️much love from central Massachusetts!
I think these videos are better than the highway videos that you can't video anymore for the state I like these better
Loved the Phantom 309 reference. Great video!!
That’s one of our favorites too! We’re glad you caught the reference.
351 Peterbilt is my favorite model
that would have been Eddie Petroff's crew working that wreck, Petroff has a first class towing & recovery operation. great guys!
Love these videos. Don’t think my family would get it but love these so much.
I appreciate that! My family doesn't always get it either. 😂
I started my towing career operating a new Nomar 12/24 mounted on a '74 Pete 359. I did split the booms more than once.
You got that old girl so excited after not running all them years she tried taking you as her prisoner. She definitely knows she’s in a better place.
Appreciate the concern, we are all good!
Great video glad you made it home God bless😊 let's go 2025 Murphy's diesel
Appreciate the support and the encouragement!
Really cool truck! Sorry about the bad trip though! Really enjoy your channel! Watching from Nova Scotia, Canada

Your family is beautiful, stay safe.🇨🇦
Thanks! We appreciate that.
