Oh Stephan, .First of all Thank you so much for your ever so sweet dedication....The video is Awesome and the song and the sound of the engine gave ME even an adrenaline-rush I hope more train enthusiasts will come across this lovely video and get equally excited You truly deserve the stars in my crown this evening Stephan Thank you so much!!! And Marty too of course :) ~Marianne...
You are so very welcome my dear Marianne .. it has been a pleasure to make this video as you have inspired me with trains and train music and all :-) I'm so happy that you like my video in the making for years really ... and to top it all you supplied the wonderful music by Marty I have been searching for so long just for this video :-) Hugs ...
THANKS for the link to the Google file w/o the song! You can DL it and play it with Windows Media Player, and it will save a separate sound file that you can upload to a DCC sound decoder (one that allows it).
Sure are. The 9000 locomotives were one of the biggest and strongest steam engines ever built. Fun fact: They could pull a 120 car fully loaded freight train at 50 mph unassisted over the great plains.
The up 4-12-2s are a sight good thing up 9000 survives beyond the days of steam to bad it never runs today due to being limited to gentler curves and flatter terrain
I’m preparing a music video for the 9000 based on a song that my Dad wrote. These mammoth steam locomotives would rumble through the small Nebraska town during his boyhood. Is it possible to use these photos in the music video? Is there a formal way to secure permission for this? Thanks so much for your consideration. Mark
Sounds great Mark :) Of course, please, feel free to use and as mentioned, my original basic video is free for use if you like (I can even send it to you somehow) :) Good luck with your project! Stephan
+HotRod Buick : Yes, that would be amazing ,,, like they did for the BigBoy #4014 ,,, taken out of the very same location where #9009 stands now ;) Let's hope they will some day!
+rimakuja They already have one of the 4-10-2s and its currently up for sale because it doesn't meet their mainline track speeds. I doubt the 9000s would be able to maintain 70mph like the 844 and 3985 can do.
+stevelerro The 9000s' top speed is 60mph. And there is only one surviving 9000 class locomotive and that is number 9000 the first one built and the last one to operate. The locomotive is on display at the RailGiants Museum in Pomona, California.
Highly doubt it. The 9000 series couldn't go round tight curves which would really hinder it's operating range. Also it was a triple piston loco making a nightmare to maintain. Just look at the round thing in the middle of the engine's frame.
@@dark_one1337 sorry I believed you dont like the train sound and you want to hear the original sound. There is a manufacturer that sells the UP9000 with sound (RD-Hobby)
With care! The middle I think two pairs of drivers are flangeless ("blind"), and the first two have Alco lateral motion devices on them allowing for a fair degree of sideways motion. Even with that, they were permitted only over certain lines.

Those up 4-12-2s sure are mighty machines on the union pacific with 12 driving wheels to bad they can only handle gentler curves and flatter terain.
Those beautiful locomotive sounds, like Beethoven's 6th symphony.
+Hawkin's Dog Yes .. agree !! :)
Hawkin's Dog a
The 4-12-2
Three cylinder makes a distinctive sound. Who can tell me how much horsepower the 9000 series have?
OVER 9000
@@flamertheflamingfire1949 lol.
Have you heard about the german Class 44?
It had 3 Cylinders and is still used sometimes
I wish I had a time machine!
Oh, but many of us do...
Its called "Model Railroading" the prototype in scale...
I'd stay

rimakuja Thanks so much Stephan! I greatly appreciate it! I’ll send the video to you when it’s complete.
I wonder if UP would consider reacquiring 9000 for the steam program

i wish they would but i dont think they will since it needs a pretty big radius curve

can someone isolate the train sound from the music?
Yes, just click on the first link above and you go to the original sound files :)

Why?
Theres no reason
@@kaifriedrich1763 of course is there a reason, if you want the sound for a model train.
@@dark_one1337 sorry

How does that go around a curve?

Literally a huge crane
I'm just joke that would be funny if was true
Just needed to be very carful you don't wanna bend the engine
Matthew Brown the middle drivers are not flangeless, though that was considered for them.
I'd have left out the Marty Robbins song. Otherwise an excellent video.
That tune was written for the 1973 movie "Emperor of the North" with Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine.
Alright yes, please, have a look above in the text and my comment :)
