FYI: this is an official Japanese anime adaptation following visual novels made by an author in Japan but the story is based on Chinese background, so it not a redubing from Chinese anime. 100% Japan’s made product

Our elders once almost destroyed our original ancient culture during so-called "Cultural Revolution"(1966-1976). I am grateful that some Japanese still remember, and show us how glamorous it is.👍

@@Renato_Zheng In the past few years there has been a revival in mainland China, with more and more artists and consumers being interested in ancient aesthetics. Check out the hanfu movement. Check out the many donghua and dramas with high production values. Chinese *also* remember. It's just that they only recently regained confidence in their heritage.
Almost thought this was a donghua at first, but I keep track of donghua pretty closely and hadn’t seen anything about this one before. So I was definitely pleasantly surprised to discover an anime set in ancient China! I was immediately drawn in by the pretty hanfu designs. ^^

While starting out slow Ep 1, Ep. 2 moved the plot on nicely with deepening meaningful character arcs and intrigue. It’s more of a fantasy soap opera mystery romance that’s a lot more mature and nuanced from the usual anime fare. I liked how I everything tied together with the protagonists’ backstories evolving into more deeper intriguing relationships.
I'm so happy a shoujo is coming out!

This is a show that’s been on my Radar ever since the first trailer came out, and so far its got me interested.
I really love that historical fiction anime is based on chinese culture! In fact, the animation is incredibly beautiful among what words can describe!
Hmm......Since this is set in China, servants usually address the emperor as Your Majesty/Your Highness. Not sure if its the mistake of the scriptwriter, voice actor or subtltles. But I'm glad to see more well done chinese animations coming out.

Was this a Chinese series? if so, I'd love to hear it with it's original VAs! Of course the Japanese VAs are very talented but watching a show in it's original language is an experience in of itself! If it is a Japanese production, that is fine and very nice how they are presenting other cultures to a wider audience!

Since this is the official Japanese anime, but why is the eng sub characters name aren’t matching with the characters name though? It made me confuse at first why the sub names of the characters aren’t matching with the name the characters calling themselves by. Making me think this was originally in Chinese instead of Japanese. 😓

i thought an inner palace story from an anime would be different from all the Chinese palace dramas, but oh was i wrong. Also, why is everything chinese, the name of everyone, the name of the palace, the title of the characters, everyone's costume, the design of the palace, even the name of the dress of that ghost, and the art style look just like the current chinese anime. Is it a coincidence or a mimicry, cause i'm sure the people living in the palace historically in japan had japanese names.

What's this anime about and is it good? I'm looking for new anime
the episode kinda explains it, she is part of the inner palace (harem) of the pseudo chinese emporer but not for him to sleep with her but for her magical abilities with which she can help people with their woes concerning curses, dearly departed ones and what not. There is a mystery going on to who she is and what is up with her powers and how it comes she is part of the harem
it's like taking the ancient chinese dramas or Wuxia and turning it animated, one of those types of plots- i highly recommend ancient cdramas
