Dubstep mixing is like jazz because it gives you freedom while EDM or house music is more like classical music where everything is organized and planned out
You know dubstep is edm. You think edm is a genre when in reality it's not. It means electronic dance music so in reality trap, ridding, dubstep, brostep, etc is all edm
Im trying to see what your doing with the filter on the first mix out just before you lower the volume fader on deck 2, are you turning it towards the hpf?
Have to say, this is a very song specific tutorial. Planning to mix a library of dubstep songs with the "8 bar post drop mix in" method won't bode well (can confirm). Also confused, you mentioned that dubstep is structured differently than house music so we have to mix it differently but you used one of the most common Tech House techniques with the offset method.
Make More Tutorials!! thankyou gustav for all ive learn alot and bought a dj a few months ago because of your videos thankyou for making your videos so clear hope more tutorials to come ❤️❤️
nice - can you do a video where you take an eptic or zomboy set for example and explain what exactly they're doing? i feel like thatd help so much.. . thanks man great vid. have a sub!
Eptic's a particularly good one as there tends to be a few vids where you can see the decks... Laundry room set comes to mind... I can see it I just need to understand his thinking and the "methods" he's using!
Oof yeah I heard hes coming back. Hes gonna have a really tough time but yes I definetly think that all his anger and fear of his career being ruined has changed him and his music alot. Mayne made it more emotional and better!
True my dude but for this genres waveforms help cause you can understand where is the drop especially if its the first time you listen the track and since there's a magic button called sync that solves you the beat matching you dont even have to use headphones (always use headphones btw exept if you have practiced your set)
@@αλεξηςπεγιαδης I think ill admit what i have said at first was a bit out of proportion, i understand that waveforms are great when you are beginner LEARNING and learning how tracks are layed out. also to see how new tracks you have just purchased, a quick look over the waveform can come in handy for sure. But this goes to all these DJ channels, not just Gustav. you guy explain everything to new comers apart from the ONE thing that makes Music music and Djing Djing, and that is to LISTEN and FEEL the music
Yes im just showing visual because it applies to XDJ-RX and all laptop softwares. I show which part of the song to start mixing in so you can do it on cdj 2000's without visuals.
Lmao you can tell dubstep isn’t your forte. Nice attempt! I would like you to show what you’re doing than explain yourself. If you explain what you’re doing and then attempt to do it the videos are way too boring and slow. So all in all show us your example and then talk about it I believe you will have a more appreciative audience.

Dubstep mixing is like jazz because it gives you freedom while EDM or house music is more like classical music where everything is organized and planned out
Tennyson Roberts I say this as someone who loves dubstep.. please don’t compare dubstep to jazz as having the same musical freedoms XD
You know dubstep is edm. You think edm is a genre when in reality it's not. It means electronic dance music so in reality trap, ridding, dubstep, brostep, etc is all edm
I love how you break everything down and explain why the tracks go well with each other! Dope tutorial!
Thanks dude
I use to do this all on vinyl where I had to do it by the sound and counting the bars in my head....... valuable education.
