    You mention that you don't read Daredevil comics. Do yourself a favor and read Frank Miller's first run as both writer and artist ... it's from DD 178-192 or right around there. It's been collected a few times and its easy to get a hold of. Do not start with DD 190 :). I think Elektra has already been killed at this point. The run revolutionized comics eclipsing even Claremont/Byrne X-men in critical acclaim. After the positive response, Marvel took Miller off of one of their lowest selling titles and gave him their hottest character. This led to the famous Wolverine Limited Series and the superstar comic creator era. The Elektra run on Daredevil is one of the most compelling storylines ever.
    It's a must read.

      It depends. I use regular BCQ boards with my current Mylar and also with my current "thick" BCW poly bags. For my silver Mylar, I use a custom cut Full Back with a 7 1/12 inch width.

    • @robertoslama331

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  2 года назад

      @@robertoslama331 Technically neither. The Full and Half refer to the E Gerber boards. The BCW boards are standard boards. Full backs are good for big keys, but the BCW boards are my standard go to. Full backs are really expensive.
      And I do offer a discount code at bcwsupplies.com. it's JERNOS and you get 10% off. But I'm not pushing BCW blindly. I stand behind their products and I still use other products as well.

      I usually keept all reprints and facsimiles at the beginning of the section. For example, my Uncanny x-men #1, Giant Size x-men #1, facsimile and Marvel Masterpiece reprints sit in front of the section before my actual run begins.

    What is your opinion on having your books (every other book) being flipped the opposite way so that spines don’t hit each other, I saw this as a tip to keep your books better organized as far as distributing the weight of the books (since most of the weight is on the spine side of the book)
    Wanted to know if this is really important or effective (necessary)?

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  4 года назад +2

      Great question! Honestly, I would most likely never organize my books front to back every other book like that. yes, that would keep the books sitting more flush and even in each box, but as a collector, a part of the appeal to the collection is having your books and your runs in a box that you can easily flip through and enjoy. Also, regarding the argument of pressure against the spine of the book, I honestly wouldn't worry about that unless you had the box jam backed with no breathing room, or, you had books sitting on top of each other in a pile, like on a table or a desk. If they are standing up in a box and in bags and boards, with breathing room, you most likely aren't putting any real stress on the spine at all.

    • @fabtekk
      @fabtekk 4 года назад +1

      Jerno's Comics & Pop Culture thanks for the response I appreciate your time. I like your point in the comments section how you say that by showing your collection it can or may spark the interest of a collector for a book they may have never seen 👍

    • @fabtekk
      @fabtekk 4 года назад

      FrostAden ً but Jerno’s advice convinced me to keep them faced all the same way for a collector who wants to navigate through books better. Like Jerno said as long as you don’t have the books stacked flat and you have them standing up in your box and Not crammed, allowing for breathing room to prevent the books to be squished, no need to flip them. Thanks Jerno, feels great to have them facing all the same way again.👍

    • @stevenwhiteman8253
      @stevenwhiteman8253 4 года назад

      I do this and it works great with the Batman run. Cover A is what you see but the b cover is facing it. So when you flip its still in order. I'm switching over from long boxes to shorts& and i have noticed that the spine of some book behind a book thats moved over a bit will make a hump on the spine no matter how many i do or dont have in there. I have old runs so i face them in to each for the just in case

    The fun part about this was comparing my own collection to what was shown, and over all (this and part 2), yeah... just fun. The hard part for me is, why take all these comics out of order from the rest of your collection (seemingly permanent-like). Was this just for fun, showing of or suome other purpose I missed? Yeah, sometimes it's just fun to play with out toys, I admit it. What perplexes me is a certain sort of vid that seems only about showing off, with no depth of purpose beyond that. There was this one guy, just showing off comic statues, which to me is a little-kid, in-your-face thing. If there was a discussion attached to it, it would have seemed a lot less like a bragfest. That said: I imagine this is to show others where you are coming from knowledge-wise in comicdom?

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  4 года назад +3

      Honestly, I think you may be reading too deep into this. My reason behind this video is nothing more than to show off some cool books. Most of us love key books, which means most of us enjoy seeing them. I know I enjoy seeing other youtubers show off what key books they have, which can help me learn of key books that I might want to research and purchase for my own collection. So maybe others watching my videos can do the same. I do not have the personality to do anything merely to 'show off' or 'brag,' and I'm not sure if I've felt that way about any other fellow youtubers. I think 99.9% of us truly enjoy showing and sharing as a community.

    • @A1Authority
      @A1Authority 4 года назад

      @@JernosComicsPopCulture for me the part of that doesn't make sense is that anybody can look up quality images of said books anywhere, complete lists with images for that matter. Without anymore substance than 'look what I have' it's just showing off. It would be more interesting to know more hear why you like a specific run, artist or writer, and would actually serve a purpose. What I'm saying is, it's more tasteful and informative to sneak in the showing off part with substance. (But I did enjoy myself going 'got that. got that. go that. hehe. peace)

      I disagree about new comics being dead. Of course the PC thing has fucked comics a bit, yet as I look through bins for interesting things, there always seems to be something. Great art draws me in, odd titles, even mature reading, or seeing what the latest #1, incarnation of Red Sonja, whathaveyou, is like. Naturally, I'm not skimming bins for just new stuff. -BTW, one of my own biggest bitches about new comics is a female version of every male superhero ever.
