Not just in Scotland mate, brambling is a tradition across these isles. When in season go out with the kids and dog and pick tubs of blackberries then add them to some Bramleys and make a crumble. So good, and it has to wild picked because I don't know how they make the shop bought ones so utterly flavourless.

Those mountains are the remnants of ancient volcanos that were ground down during the ice ages. The most spectacular example of this process is the Isle of Skye which looks like a caldera but is actually the remnant of a magma chamber that pushed up as the Earth's crust was buckled and the 4KM tall strato volcano above it was eroded away over many millions of years. The biggest volcano in the British isles is the Lake District, that's the caldera of the British Isles' only super volcano though unlike the one under Naples, and Yellowstone, ours is long dead.
Thank you! Because of these comments I don't need to ever go to google to ask the history, every one of you provide it. Appreciate the insights on land.
@@ShaneMilson You're welcome mate. Basically the western side of England and the UK then most stuff up from Cumbria and Northumberland is volcanic. There are plenty of narrow and sharp ridges on Bidean Nam Bian (the mountain behind the three sisters) and it is possible to climb up the faces of the three sisters on zig zag paths. I’m lucky to be able to say I drive through Glen Coe twice almost every week. I’ve driven through more than a thousand times over the years and never not appreciated the beauty. I’ve seen purple snow, triple rainbows and fog bows. Sadly there are many accidents on that road and the helicopter is a routine visitor carting people off to hospital. The detours take hours so most of the time, if the weather is nice, it’s better just to wait it out.
Your smile is so big it comes through your eyes too. I think you’re a Scot at heart. I love my country and love seeing others enjoy it too . My Mum was gifted a plot of land in Glencoe and the title. Lady (Her name )of Glencoe , some of her ashes are scattered there Safe travels

🇬🇧 Hi folks. FYI the majority of mountainous areas and moors/valleys of the UK, Scotland, Wales, Cumbria are the result of glacial erosion. Enjoy your stay

Just one thing though - don't pick low hanging brambles (blackberries) - dogs love to pee on those bushes! If the cat was a tabby it might be Monty, he's a bit of a celebrity in Oban!
There is an interesting history to McCaigs Tower. A wealthy landowner provided ( in his Will) for the erection of the tower in his honour and it was intended that their be statues in all of the openings including one for Major McCaig. The Will was challenged by the family ( who presumably felt better use could be made of the money) and the court decided such enormous expenditure was unreasonable - “perpetual expenditure for an unreasonable purpose lacking in public sentiment”. For legal scholars this is one example of the limitations on the terms of a Will.

Genuine question. What's the big deal with raw milk in cheese? I thought that's just what you need to make cheese? If it's pasturised, you have to artificially add the bacteria back in. Am I misunderstanding?

Ahh I can’t believe I missed it. Will rewind the footage and see it. Got so focused on recording the video and the blackberries
The foooooooood
Genuine question. What's the big deal with raw milk in cheese? I thought that's just what you need to make cheese? If it's pasturised, you have to artificially add the bacteria back in. Am I misunderstanding?
Enjoying your vlogs Shane, but please shoot the outdoor scenes to include that lovely lady you're with. I don’t know if she's your gf or wife, but please stop running off without her. You're on this adventure as a couple, but it often seems you'd rather experience it alone? It's like 90% your input and 10% hers. It would be nice to even up the contribution. Sorry for the criticism, but I hope you understand I'm trying to be constructive. It's just how it comes across to the viewer (well, this one anyway). Have a great trip - together!! 👍
We don't have mountains in Scotland they are monroes 😊
Scotland is a happy place, we enjoy our Country, we are a unique human race, no one is in your face, go about your business at your own pace! Over the Forth bridge is where the true Scotland is, where proud Edward came and fought us, as he thought it was his! Many great sights that catch your eye, it's enough too make anyone cry, it would bring a tear to any glass eye! No guns are permitted in our town, not like some states who have bully Policeman who are just clowns, so enjoy your tour, as many great sights too be found! Read up on the Scottish history, many tourists visit here due too those Harry Potter mysteries! The Scottish folk will keep you right, we live in the best Country due to our ancestors who put up the fight! Safe journey home, have a good flight, Haste ye back, our future is bright!
Excellent sharing here. I appreciate how proud of their homeland the Scottish are. Makes me feel so good having that in my DNA. Many blessings to you and the good folks of this magical place.
Ho dear never pick Low down Blackberries. That are in Male dog 🐕 aiming range. 😮
Don’t pick blackberries below 3ft , dogs piss on them 😂😂😂😂
u guys still here thought u had gone home?
Scots are taught at a young age not to eat wild berries growing below waist height.
Great video.
When I was growing up in Scotland I refused to eat beans because I had it my head that only poor people ate beans! When I told my mother this she told me we were poor, and I better eat them! To this day I can’t stand beans! 😂
I remember my granny telling me not to get above my station because I said I only liked Heinz beans. 😂😂😂😂
I love your appreciation of our beautiful country and your enthusiasm is catching but im sorry there's something that really annoys me.... your pronunciation of Edinburgh... there are no 'o's in Edinburgh... The burgh bit is pronounced.....bura ... with a soft 'a'...... enjoy the rest of your trip and take care x
Now you know why the english don't want to lose Scotland as part of the dis - United Kingdom? Trillions of pounds worth of minerals and natural resources in Scotland's land and sea ...and they want them . Great video guys ..
The snp have closed Glasgow, no point going there 😂
MaULL, pronounce.

Everything you have said about food was British , so why not say Britain isnt so much sad , it's mournful then we know you are talking about england .
Sorry but oban 1 of most depressing places i know😂
Yes it seems we are in the minority, but its one of the worst places ive visited
Handy for reaching the Islands. 😂😂😂
'Pick your breakfast place'??? Can't an American make their own breakfast FGS? Or isn't one available at your hotel/B&B??? Book my fairy too please, ooh!
FUD!!!
Been to Oban many times but things have changed, pub prices have gone though the roof and there seems to be the cheap pubs are missing except Weatherspoons. Its still a lovely place but a working mans wages don't stretch that far.
