    🇹🇭 In this video, we're going to estimate the cost of living in Thailand as a Western foreigner.
    Usually, we don't want to give up on certain necessities, improve our life quality, and still have enough money to enjoy the good things in life. But how much is really enough in Thailand?
    The answer is not an easy one, and it obviously depends on the person.
    We're going to split up the costs of living into four different parts and talk about each one individually so that everyone can get a realistic idea of what to expect for their money by the end of the video.
    I hope this is helpful and interesting. Thanks for watching!

    Excellent video! it helps to estimate costs. I would like to ask you if you can give tips for the visa. I work remotely and see the only option is only 45+30 days. Do you have any advice to stay longer? Thanks in advance!

    • @pattayanow
      @pattayanow  Год назад

      Hey, sorry for the late response! I'm not sure what you mean by "longer." When I moved to Thailand, I had a tourist visa for six months, which cost 80 or 90€ and was pretty easy to get. If you want to move and live in Thailand, marriage, retirement, and elite visas might be worth looking into. The best way is to consult a Thai consulate in your home country. They usually have a hotline for questions like that and are easily the best source for up-to-date information. They have always been really helpful to me.

      @@jimmyg4428 Sounds awesome! Each region has its own unique reasons to consider. Chiang Mai seems pretty popular for Western expats and offers cooler weather, which is fantastic. However, it does face challenges during the burning season with air pollution. Bangkok and Pattaya are great choices because of their central location and proximity to each other. However, they don't have the best beaches, and unfortunately, Pattaya has a reputation for its nightlife, which may not always be great. Krabi and Phuket are the top picks for beach and ocean lovers. Keep in mind that they are quite far from Bangkok and the rest of Thailand. There are also many expats who have found their place in more remote parts of Thailand, which can be exciting. However, I think that requires a strong desire and the willingness to live with fewer comforts compared to what we're usually used to. It's great that you have the opportunity to explore everywhere and form your own impressions. I think that's always the best way to approach it! 👍👍

      @@whatsname2649 I had trouble finding my own channel when I searched for it. The best way is to search for "Pattaya Now" and set the filter to channels. Yes, I feel the same about finding a place to stay. It's also important that windows and doors close properly so that you don't have a billion mosquitoes around🤣 The costs of renting or buying property are still very attractive compared to most Western cities. I imagine that this might be the most attractive financial aspect that Thailand has to offer right now.

      Just South from the center is Jomtien. For me (and probably for couples in general) "better" than the center of Pattaya. Jomtien also has the nicer one of the 2 beaches in Pattaya with lots of restaurants street vendors and I believe there is even a small night market right at the beach road. Spent there my first Holiday in Thailand, lots of activities around, inside and outside the city. Hope you will enjoy your stay!

    5 Baht per KWH is what we pay in Norway too right now... Used to be that we paid only 1 Baht for power or less. Except here we need extra power for heating. I guess you need cooling in Thailand tho. Not sure which is more expensive, heating or cooling.

      Not impossible, but all I have heard is that it's not easy to find something. Getting a work permit seems difficult for any job a Thai person could do. Teaching English at high schools seems to be quite popular, and any college degree seems to qualify for that.

    • @pattayanow
      @pattayanow  Год назад +1

      That sounds quite low. I imagine this is the starting point under perfect conditions. Do you know if it can be used to apply for a retirement visa? I estimated about $200 for health insurance for an elderly person who needs to feel comfortable with the coverage levels. The $150 on top is for unexpected costs, in case you don't have a lot of money to rely on if something happens. I agree that this seems high, but at the same time, I would feel terrible if someone came back to me one day and told me their dad is ruined for life because they watched my video and didn't feel the need to use an insurance or have extra cash. Better safe than sorry when it comes to your health 😷
