Niantic has come out saying that shiny raid Pokémon have never had a 100% catch rate after a player lost their shiny Groudon. I'm not saying either is concretely correct, but it's definitely worth an official statement! Also fun fact, Meltan is the only mythical you can trade. 🤘
My theory is that it’s the same as Master Balling pokémon (pokémon have been breaking out of master balls). The catch chance is stored as a binary number from 1-255, when there is a shiny legendary or you use a master ball the chance is set to 255. But when you use a razz berry or a golden razz berry it might add something like 10 or 20 to the catch rate. Because it’s binary and it has a cap, if you go over that cap it goes back down to 1. So 255 catch rate + 20 for the golden razz berry becomes a 20 catch rate.

I did catch the Shiny Groundon from the Field Research Box lol. I was playing near this bus stop in my small neighborhood when I finished my researched and caught the Groundon. Gonna say I was pretty shocked!

Here is an extension to fun fact number one: The shiny legendaries are unfortunately AFFECTED by the speed lock (the funny little feature that prevents you from catching mons if you are traveling at a certain speed or higher, I think it was 25 mph?) which has almost cost me a shiny legendary (since I had no idea what a speed lock was, now that I think about it it’s probably the reason why my mons have not been spawning) thankfully a friend did inform me what it was and I waited.. It did unfortunately prevent me from using my berries since I had panically threw them all at the shiny Genesect 😢

Another thing that will help a lot but nobody talks about. The legendaries and overall the encounter of Giovanni also have a 100% catchrate so dont miss out on those candies too. Bcs i saw a lot of people using golden berries to catch it and thats a waste of 1 berry and candies
Nah, it's guaranteed no matter what. They don't say that 😂😂😂 I've used no pinap or berry at all, I've used Golden razz's, and it's caught first ball every time 😂 only time it's not guaranteed is if you are total azz and miss ALL of your throws. Then it flees (OBVIOUSLY)
Melt still in game you just have to have a Nintendo Switch and down load Pokémon home and send a Pokémon from go to home and it will give you a box that when opened it makes melt spawn for 1 hour

It actually has 100% to catch a shiny, but if you are driving there is automatically 0% bc of speed cap

Also, the speed lock stops you from spinning poke stops and gyms.
