Great Vlog Sean looking around Koh Samui,shame so many empty and derelict buildings,I suppose it will take time to get back to what it was before the lock down ? I think Samui is gonna be run down for years now...everyone seems to avoid going cos of the reputation of it being one of the dearest islands in Thailand...I can't see me ever going back again which is a shame cos I enjoyed it there.

The biggest pub in the world /reggae pub Chaweng used to be a top nightspot back in the day, now abandoned and a sorry sight, pool tables are still upstairs though, mad how things change.

You were about 1 minute away from the main centre of Chewang (albeit riding up a one way street) before you turned around and where it's a lot busier but absolutely nowhere near of what it was or should be for this time of the year
Aye Samui has seen better days for me, my first time here 20 yes ago I loved it, Chaweng so cluttered up and commercial Now. You should travel to Koh Lipe the southern most Thai island it's beautiful and I think you can get a ferry to Malaysia from there in couple hours. Kaaapoooom 🌴👍🇨🇷
You were in chaweng noi where the cobber told you one way opposite him was a dirt service rd which runs behind central festival and takes you back on to chaweng rd. There you will find the islander the bar you were at last time.

Hi mate,I have no desire to return to samui would rather stay koh Chang KO Tao etc. I stayed maenam beach over ten years ago imo it was a nice beach quieter than lamai chwaeng food was cheaper and the sea was not as rough. Maenam was great for swimming. If your passing check it out👍

The many closed shopfronts and resorts is the pattern across Koh Samui. It typifies the Thai business mentality. Owners often borrow heaps money from loan sharks and then default when their risky business' die. Loan sharks are not to be messed with. When they foreclose they foreclose. The Thai mentality means that there is often someone else stupid enough and waiting in the wings ready to step in, because they thought it was a good idea. The cycle is repeated over and over. The first thing the new owners do is demolish the existing premises and then realize it a dead business and it stays that way__a pile of rubble. The proliferation of massage and green stuff shops is testimony to the insecure tourist trade. Over priced resorts claw back their losses after Covid and still likely sell ice creams from 2019, don't change the linen for days on rock hard beds in the rooms and fifty percent of the time the bathrooms require attention. The local municipality has no money to employ road workers to fix up the roads because the last Chief of Maintenance did a runner with the funds replicating the very ways of his Pirate forefathers.
My first time visiting Thailand was for a family wedding at the Hotel we was staying at on the beach in 2008 ,i literally just looked at that same hotel and the prices now 🤦♂Don't get me wrong ,i fell in love with Thailand and it's people from that holiday ,God knows what i spent over the years since Sean 🤦♂.Again from me ,Bloody sad what it looks like now .Koh Samui could be one of the top destination in Thailand if they all got there heads together .You passing the time with a certain type during this would put me off ever going there again .And iv'e watched a few video's over the the last few months .I hate cocky blokes like they own the world ,don't get me started on certain countries (prat on this video is a start )Cocky Arrogance when loaded ,Lets not go there🤦♂

When people clean the beach, they are wiping the butt of the ocean making it look appealing once more. If you want to see bandos come to Detroit.
Look at that beach for a second, it is paradise. And the other end, in the north it is even better. I frankly don't understand. Sure if you drive around you might find closed shops (it takes time to get back on your feet after a knock down), but at the area around Green Mango at night is super happening. Beautiful view, pretty lady doing yoga, coconuts, cold beers at night ... If that is chitty, I want some.
