I am familiar with Trower but never really dove into his solo work, thanks for throwing this one out there. I just spent a few days skimming through the past 5 years of your videos and I really like the diversity that you cover. I enjoy your channel and have thrown out a bunch of likes and recently subscribed, keep up the good work and I will definitely be throwing you some suggestions.
Robin Trower's Band had a very special unique bluesy softer side of post-Hendrix influence sound (Listen to "Angel" by Jimi). You have to remember we were all still deeply missing Jimi. Songs like "Daydream' were quintessential emotionally moving Trower which set them apart from the average Rock group! That Grungy part was pure Hendrix. The singer was perfect! I loved listening to him during particular dreamy mood. As time passes people forget the wide variety of greatness we once had to choose from.
Lifelong Trower fan. Introduced to him in 1976. The band BOSTON opened for him in concert. BOSTON had just released their iconic debut album, so I went to see THEM. I had never even heard of Robin Trower. BOSTON, ultimately was disappointing because they played their album in order, note-for-note. And yes, I know that even that is a remarkable feat - but their performance lacked that 'live' spontaneity. I could have just stayed at home and listened to it really loud. But then TROWER took the stage - and omg - I was mesmerized as he simply blew BOSTON away. The loudest concert I have ever been to - and mesmerizing. I still, almost 40 years later, can remember and 'hear' a few of the tunes in my head: this one, "Daydream", another called "Caledonia" - and what has endured as my all-time favorite Robin Trower song (and album), "Long Misty Days." Please check out THAT tune!
Alwasy liked Robin Trower's guitar playing. I like his bluesy style that he plays on some of this songs. This song is awesome. Really love "Day of the Eagle" a real rocker of a song.
Very nice! Its my favorite Trower tune and so aptly named. Surprisingly this is the first time ive heard studio version. The Robin Trower Live! LP from 1976 is fire and Daydream my favorite track.
Coerced into buying this first neon green 8track by my first guitar mentor, Big David… it has grown and grown on me. Memories of listening in the car for hours. Glad you’re continuing with.
He did an actual tribute to Jimi in PH… album Broken Barricades, A Song For A Dreamer which he sings. Early Trower, pre-disco is very much a tribute to Jimi imo.
@@Owlstretchingtime78 He's done a few tracks from ABAL in the past. Maybe he'll return some time. He should. Re his debut, that was Are You Experienced, ABAL, was his second, but who's counting :)
Hi JP. DP from UK. I prefer these Trower songs In A Mellow Tone. A great showcase for his playing, such as those fireworks (good decsription, Justin) although a bit too Hendrix like; even the song reminds me of one of Jimi's (Little Wing maybe). Also love James Dewar's soulful vocals.
I can't listen to Trower without thinking of Hendrix. I'm n not saying he's just derivative or a clone, he came out of the same era - it's just impossible not to hear the resonance, and no one else comes anywhere near as close stylistically and in sound. Thank goodness he came through the 60's, and perhaps he carried on the legacy.
James Dewar lead singer, a great blues rock singer who passed on 23 years ago.....RIP....SUBLIME.
Trower 😍
That was magical, it soothed my soul, my favourite Robin Trower song now, outstanding musicianship and vocals, beautiful

Love this song. In fact, it's one of the songs that helped me learn bass basics: nice and slow, but fun to play.

Nice 🎸🎶😎
One of his best tunes!
A highlight when I saw him in '77.

Great song. There's some good live versions out there for this too.
Decent tune, nicely played, but so evocative of Hendrix I couldn't get Jimi out my head. Was this some kind of tribute I wonder...

His debut album, 'Axis: Bold As Love' Anytime soon?

@@jfergs.3302 I was listing his other two albums. His debut commar and ABAL. I know what order they come in! 😊
@Owlstretchingtime78 In my defence, I am overdue an eye test :)
Studio-wise, think there was only 3. Those two and Electric Ladyland, my fave.

Do yourself a favour an listen to the superior live version. Dewar singing better, Trower playing with more feeling, letting the song breeze.
RT and his band does not get enough credit for what they brought to the music world.
Excellent but please get James Dewar's name right. (Dyoo-arr. We told you before when you did Bridge of Sighs!)
Oh, that Hendrix copy again! Not bad this time.
It would be nice if we heard some more of the original. One album from the master is a joke!
He was one of the best of the Jimi influence players who captured his softer side beautifully when we still missing Jimi !
@@wendellwiggins3776 yeah, I love Robin Trower. The world needed more Hedrixian rock (I guess that also explains Frank Marino). 🙃
