When a close friend of 20+ years goes nuclear over a misunderstanding.

Besides, "You just want pity!" Pity's worth about two bucks and a handshake. Why tf would anyone vie for that? I like commiserating. We're both feeling hurt? Cool. Let's be a friend to each other. But if you're taking that and making it into a slew of insults and an accusation to look good for your other friends? Yeah, we're done here.
Update (9/20/24): I've already met with one licensed mental health professional who flat-out said, "It's my professional opinion that you don't have symptoms of diagnosable narcissism (NPD)." But I asked to be referred for the formal assessment anyway.
