When should you start charging for public speaking?

How much should you charge when you speak? What's the difference between a keynote speaker and a platform speaker? Should you ever agree to speak for free?
Mark Leruste shares his experience and some helpful advice for aspiring speakers on why if you want people to pay attention, you should make them pay.
But he also argues that sometimes it can make sense to talk for free as long as you know why.
