DIY Concrete Planter Coffee Table Combination

- I made a large DIY planter that. also serves as an outdoor coffee table using plywood steel mesh and Quikwall Surface Bonding Cement. This cement plaster has fiberglass strands in it and is super strong! This planter has a durable finish that allows it to be a modern outdoor furniture piece or it can be used inside.

I can't unsee toilet anymore once you mentioned it. I already saw you making faux rock the same way and I really dig the idea.
Maybe my favorite of your combo planter/tables yet
This is one of the best ideas I’ve seen in awhile. I imagine a unique corner table, plant not in the way of one’s vision.
a corner planter would be a great application!
This is really awesome! I love the use of nature & modern design!! Job well done!
I saw avocado until you said toilet. Now I see both. I don’t think it’s an issue. 👍🏼
It’s a pretty nice color and adds to the organic feel :)
I don't see a toilet. I see 3 of these around an outdoor firepit in my backyard with my grandsons roasting hotdogs & pull lemons off the tress in the planters. That is a really unique idea that can be so versatile & mobile if need be. I'm not handy with power tools so maybe i can show this video to my daughter & grandsons & we can get the hubby to help us. He can do the labor & we will do the the clean up. Thank you for posting. Have a great week.
I'm imagining sculptural planters in and amongst the whalebone-looking windmill blades you mentioned on the Modern Maker podcast set against a red-rock backdrop.
Every time Ben mentions the hotel project in my head I hear 'Makers Assemble!'.
I'm so hype for that series.
Beautiful.Love the idea.Thanks for sharing.
Make a little house for Gary!
I really like this one Ben! Nice design!!
As long as it doesn't look like an Avocado coloured toilet from a 1970s bathroom.
Also, more Gary please!
Nice fruniture. Going to try this one out for sure
I love this. Hope to get there someday as my skill is still fresh. Kudos
I absolutely LOVE this idea!!!
Really good ideas
BEST DIY I HAVE EVER E V E R SEEN ON YOTUBE!
love the innovation Ben! awesome build!!
Thanks for posting your videos really enjoy your channel very creative projects.
Wow amazing video great work brother who enjoy ❤️ this video hit the like 👍👍
Nice job! I've never worked with that cement before. I'll have to try it.
This is the best idea 💡 👏 🙌 ❤️
whoever designed your studio needs a raise ;-)
Nether, awesome organic shape.
So cool Ben - I feel like this technique has so many possibilities! I think avocado!
Love the concept and the ability to adapt to a bunch of design shapes.
Would it be correect to assume that the lath + concrete is stable enough on its own to support itself if the interior structure decays? or does it provide a waterproof barrier to keep the plywood dry?
I gave it a like not only for the cool planter but for the chipmunk
I thought the same thing about the toilet, but I'm not mad at it. I like this a lot. I think I might have to do a few of these for the back yard!
Lol 😂🤣😂 all the way through I said to myself "I can't unsee a toilet" Then you said Avacado and I chuckled "nope toilet seat" 🤣😂🤣😂 Great design though and got me thinking about something similar for a garden seating space only I'd pop a Canna bulb in the planter cut out.
Beautiful.
Awesome! That is really nice - thanks
Love the form and function of this project. 💯 I also really like the organic/sculptural shape, it adds more of a natural esthetic to a space. Would the plywood be suitable for outdoor use?
Awesome dude ! Will make one for my boat
Yup! You have an honest friend 😜
Good job though..
Thanks for all your videos, it gives me a lot of ideas...
great idea. i want to do one for my terrace. i just wondering if the base, since its just plywood, if its resist to the weather, water etc.
Sick video!!! 👌👌
awesome
That's awesome!
thank you!
Love this video Thanks
thank you! positive support is always appreciated!
Awesome 👌
I would love to make 2 of these for either side of my front door. Well done but ya know now I can't unsee the toilet.
Love it
Hey Ben! I am looking to start a project very similar to this, soon. Looking back on this old project of yours, is there anything you would change in your build process? I appreciate you!
Definitely NOT a toilet. Very cool.
Avocado when seeing it top-down in 2D, but toilet 100% when looking at it from the side in 3D
An avocado toilet seat. Cool though!
Ben you should embrance the toilet and put a toilet tank as a gravity feed watering mechanism LOL
What a great project! Is stucco the only Quikrete material that you think would work here? I like the look of cement over stucco but I don’t know if it would adhere to the curves. I’m wanting to create a “riverstone” table with a super smooth polished finish.
A starshape might look as cool as the toilet. Greetings from Germany
Was that cameo by Steve? Also always glad to see J. Keep safe and stay well.
Man it was an avocado to me until you told about the toilet thing. I can’t unsee it now
@homemademodern that turned out amazing! do you have any for sale?
Nice! Really Good design, does it have any bottom, i didn't see the bottom when done 😅
I really like this concept, but I might try a slightly different shape. Where do you get these specialized cement mixes?
Ficou bom demais.
Next project: Toilet & Bidet Planter Set, for in the garden!
What happens if you haven't got a treats for the Gary's with you? Do they pissed of with you 😆. this looks like a fun project to do with the kids
Can you direct me specifically to the "smoother coat of mission grade plaster" that you mention for the top?
❤️❤️❤️
it's an avocado toilet. brilliant.
Can you use chicken wire as for the most part as well if y can’t find or if the the mush are sold out
Paint it green.
Then it will look more like a green toilet 😜
Lavacado??
Tell me more about this Hotel?
How do I make such a solution? Could you please tell me?
How is this holding up 3 years later? Any cracks?
Im keen to know too, plaster being used outdoors and exposed to elements
How heavy is it ben? Moveable by a fit average size man?
I saw toilet right from the beginning Could also be used as a water feature, pond or small waterfall
Totally unrelated but I’m looking to make a round coffee table but want interesting legs. Something different and funky. Any ideas?
Is Garry gonna be a recurring character?
Please say yes.
It's an Avocado! Thaaaaaanks!!
I initially thought “awesome”... now I can’t unsee the “toilet”... I still love watching your projects though💚
Beautiful. Killing two birds with one stone. Love your idea. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it very much.
can i use it also as a toilet?
this is so cool but I'm too scared + clumsy to use that tool lol
Nice now how much will it cost for you to build me one?
Gairey is No mans pet.
I like the concept although yeah it does resemble a toilet /giant middle school pottery mishap
I saw avocado until you said toilet. Now I can't unsee that!
Avocado first and toilet when you finished it. Haha
Yep, toilet...
how much does it weigh?
My thoughts went more in the line of a boiled egg cut in half than an avocado. But I guess toilet is kind of unavoidable when the hole is empty... :-)
🤯🤯🤯😍😍😍
Plants will become root bound and die if they are not allowed some space to grow. All too often, the plants are too big for the pots from the nurseries, so they should be repotted into bigger pots before being placed for display so they flourish with appropriate sunlight, water, and fertilizer.
Casually slips in that hes designing a Hotel
Yo did you just stop a feed a chipmunk 🐿? He’s trying to help with the project.
I see a grand piano. Or maybe a white avocado, jk.
Don't tree need more soils then that?
Not for a while 😀
Than.
Once you see the toilet 🚽, there is no way back!
😃👍🏻👊🏻
Not your best creation but still interesting to see how you do it.
I think if the hole was in the center, it would fix your toilet 🚽 situation.
I see a planter that you can sit on
👍👌❤👍👌❤👍👌❤
Put some yellow flowers in it and call it a deviled egg.
It does kinda look like a toilet🚽🧻🚽🤣
Just gotta put an avocado tree in and you’re set.
Toilet. Definitely
