- High drama in Manipur Assembly as Opposition takes on Govt over Violence in the state, in the one-day session held on 29th August.
The session was held for the first time since violence broke out in the state on May 3 and lasted for just 11 minutes before the Speaker adjourned the session amid protests.
Manipur CM Biren Singh moved an obituary reference and proposed a 2-minute silence for those killed.
10 Kuki MLAs did not attend the session, however all Meitei MLAs & 10 Naga MLAs were present.
We bring to you another dialogue session between a Meitei and a Kuki Professor, to talk about the peace process in the strife-torn state.

The two panelists appears to be empathetic to each other communities. Very nice to hear both and that is the minimum for peace process. Both need to also work on their own communities who appears to be radicalised to a great extent. Here is the biggest challenge for all peace loving people from both the parties.

There is discrimination in Manipur, it is very clear that, the innocent MLA and adviser of CM, Mr. Valte was not spared. What else Meitei expect from Kukis?
If tables were turned, same would have happened to a Meitei MLA too. Any kind of Violence is not new. Don't be negative all the time, rather think of it as an inevitable chapter in the history of Manipur.
And by the way, you can talk of discrimination only when kukis were affected. There has been casualties on both sides, right?

The Nagas and Kukis are different people. Don't get confused. The Nagas are the original tribals of Manipur. Kukis are some tribes from Myanmmar or Burma or China !!! Please don't mixed them with the word Tribals. Kukis killed thousand of Nagas in the nineties and captured Nagas land and named them kuki taphou and many more. They are conqueror!
