Here because I literally just finished IBH and I really didn't want it to end. Jo is such a mastermind, her books are pure magic, and I am so thrilled to hear how far along she is on the next one and that she already has ideas for the 2 after that! She's literally the only reason I read novels, and I'm so grateful for her! Long live JKR!!!

Could not agree more! Most of her detractors likely haven't read her essay or anything else for that matter. They certainly wouldn't have the capacity to intelligently digest content or the courage/agility to shift their firmly held, half-baked, irrational, totalitarian "beliefs".

I thought so too-she even mentions someone having pronouns in their Twitter bio and that was not really a thing back in 2015. But honestly the rest of the Fandom and Twitter and tumblr stuff and the rhetoric of characters felt pretty spot on to my own experiences in fandoms in the early 2010s. What a weird and honestly scary time to have been a late teen.

I hope you see this. Please stay true to reality in regards to behavioral truths. Even in fantasy worlds, you have always done exactly that. Don't let the bullies intimidate you.
I can relate to your experience writing something before it happens. I have a pretty good the first draft of a novel from 2018. I edit very slowly and during that process covid 19 came. What I wrote literally happened. I was worried it was too farfetched. Now it's too mundane. I won't give up, I'll try to find something else as the backdrop of the story.

Really love all your books. I buy the audiobook the day it comes out and my daughter buys the book. I was so glad of that with IBH, I am old and not much into social media it was confusing listening too it. Once I was able to read the book itself, your amazing format made it all so much clearer. A trivial sideline, I live quite away from London and rarely visit, are the seemingly continual roadworks/ excavations which have been going on since Robin was wolf whistled in the first chapter of the first book, crossrail related?

I love that interview. Reading the kindle version drove me mad for some time though, until I found out you can ignore the pictures because the next pages will show the same in plain text, too. I loved the book but decided against the audible version because of the tweets. How could it be done there to be undecided or unclear about the sex of Anomie? Ive got every book of Jo's in at least two versions, some even in 4, like HP2 in American book, German book, English Illustrated book and Audibles in English and German. I like to live in her worlds. I am a 69 year old lesbian media designer, in politics for 30 years, having known many LGBT people and many of them as my best friends. I consider Jo as somebody who has done nothing against us, on the contrary. I can play a game where the headmaster is gay, my favourite teacher is short, my friends are very diverse and I can date girls and boys like in my real life. Where else can I do that? Still, I've had my controversial discussions with and about trans people back in the nineties and there were tears and agression and despair but lots of understanding and support, too. People who throw about hate and shitstorm online at anybody, who doesn't follow the mainstream, instead of exchanging views aren't really helpful to the cause. Live and let live is my motto and, I think, Jo's too. With love from Germany

I am a fan of everything she writes. Just FYI, FORMATTING did get quite screwed up when I tried to read this book as a library ebook. It took me a while to figure out how to bypass the images and realize that the chat would appear in the text after the images. The image text was absurdly small in an eBook. I almost stopped reading until I figured out I could bypass the images.
Then, it was very hard to track who said what and who was who in the chats without taking notes, especially as the revealing began as to who had what identities...so I started skimming those. That made this book a little bit less fun if I am honest. Skimming boring, repetitive chat actually meant I figured out who Anomie was without that, and maybe too early. It's still a fascinating plot. I recommend that the smallest device on which to read it is a tablet.

For example, the online game. Games have a structure, a procedure, maybe even a strategy. If I recall correctly all the online characters did was hang around, literally. There seemed to be no purpose. Did you win points, collect streets like Monopoly, win pies like in Trivial Pursuit?

Thank you, JKR, for the Strike Series. ❤❤❤ Troubled Blood is my all time favorite detective novel, superseding all!
I read Ink-Black Heart with excitement, loved the plot, the development w Strike and Robin. The formatting tripped me, though. I found it very difficult to dip into and out of the on-page ebook texts, and ended up frustrated, lost, and felt Interrupted flow. I kept reminding myself to imagine the pacing of a real text thread, which is drip drip drip over time among various texters. In the ebook, each text section was inside a photo, which had to be opened, enlarged, and read. The problem is even worse in the audible version w Glenister. There is no easier smoother way that I can think of to present long text threads, but it became a real block to my enjoyment. Maybe being an aging boomer is part of my problem! 😊 Meanwhile, I am waiting (very impatiently) for the Troubled Blood tv show to air. And how you are going to convey text threads on tv, I do not know! Hahaha😂 However difficult you make them, I will be following each of your creative offerings with admiration, pleasure, and deep gratitude!

I really like and warm to the real life Joanne I see in front of me. Seems like a rational, intelligent, and righteous woman. I find a disconnect between this and the online version. I wish she would debate her views face to face and not behind a screen… we would finally listen and respond in a healthy way, with some resolve.

Almost nobody responds to gender critical views in a healthy way offline, though. Most attempts at public conversations have been cut off at the knees. In any case, there are other women who are ready and very able to do that.

She wrote a book to lionize her Twitter grievances. She can't stand being criticized for her lack of morals so she literally created a fictional universe where she's right. Jesus Christ.
