  • Varna is the Third Largest city in Bulgaria and has a lot of History.....
Whilst search the internet I was able to find so old footage of this Bulgarian City. So I came up with the idea to compare it in a video how Varna looks today against the rare old footage I found.
Anyone planning to visit Bulgaria especially Varna might find this video very interesting, or even if you live here. Foreigners or Bulgarians too.

Fantastic video, Gareth! As someone who only discovered the great city of Varna in 2021, seeing the changes via the videos of 1982 and earlier, ... is amazing. Can't wait to be back home in Varna this September. Thanks for the shout out.

Good video, I admire your effort. As a local, I suggest you need a bit of a background stories for some things you've missed to mention, and they're important part of the way the city changed and developed. But I subscribed, great work as an expat

    Great video! Thank you!
The swimming pool you are looking forward was where now is Aquahouse in St. St. Constantine and Elena resort. And the monument next to the Municipality was the monument of the Bulgarian politician Georgi Dimitrov. Happy holidays! :)

Awesome video, thanks, man! Regarding the soviet monument: this is exactly the reason why you were not able to find any information as to who it was because it was to Nobody. Like all other soviet monuments in Bulgaria. No soviet soldier has died in BG as a result of military action (except a few that drank themselves to death). That is why all soviet monuments are to some imaginary Alioshas... The only purpose of these monuments is to constantly remind the Bulgarian people of the mighty soviet union and to instigate fear. Good for the people of Varna that were able to get rid of that junk! Hopefully, one day all other Bulgarian cities would be able to do so! Merry Christmas!

I am really not sure which Varna is better, the one 1982 or the one 2022??? The soviet monuments are not good stuff for sure...but what I am able to see in the video bag than, Varna was much more green and much less constructed. More green zones! Now is a total disaster.

Nothing has changed - just proves how stuck in their ways - living in the past and complaining still to this day and not moving on from centuries ago !
