The noise you hear is probably the infotainment system's fan, probably clogged by dust after 9 years. You should remove the system and blow some air through it. The trunk opening button not working may be due to a broken wire near the door hinge. The C215 CL was known for this issue due to the complex design of its hinges. At least you should remove the button and check for electrical continuity. And the ambidextrous arm rest is very well knonwn, almost every review of the W222 I watched showed it, and probably the one from Doug de Muro
I agree with you, why should I have to buy this package or that package to get some basic luxury stuff when I am already paying significantly higher price in the name of buying a "prestige" car? If it's going to have the same plasticky dash, same rattles, same manual sunroof, no wood dash, etc., I might as well buy a Ford Fusion. Why should I waste another $25K more and buy an E Class?

Dude that ambidextrous arm rest doors were standard in the Lincoln Town Car for 25 years before the car was discontinued in 2011.
