Lyrics:
Love, make me clean
Love, touch me, cure me
The pure always act from love
The damned always act from love
Every day I think about untwisting and untangling these strings I'm in
And to lead a pure life
I look ahead at a clear sky
Ain't gonna get there
But it's a nice dream, it's a nice dream
Death, make me brave
Death, leave me swinging
The pure always act from love
The damned always act from love
The truth is an act of love
Some day, I swear, we're gonna go to a place where we can do everything we want to
And we can pet the crocodiles
Love
The pure always act from love
The damned always act from love
That's love
The pure always act from love
That's love
The pure and the damned
The pure and the damned
Love
The damned

cried when this song came on at the end of the film. heartbreaking in a million ways. beautiful
Agreed. Fantastic song.
I haven't cried this hard in a movie in a long long time.
Same! Just shows how well the characters where written
is there any other songs like this ...
@@samuelward1148 never cried this hard in a movie
Cross the room if you think that Good Time is one of the best movie of 2017
wtf is good about it sigh
@@vladstavarache2363 It's a pretty gritty interpretation of the streets of new york, coupled with a very convincing performance from Pattinson and a very off-beat and psychadelic soundtrack. It's neon tone sets an experience very few films achieved. There's no artistic meaning, other than connie, whose drive to rescue his brother causes him to break so many laws. That's what this song is about. It's a moral ambiguity, and it tricks the audience into rooting for such an evil character.
@@billyworkmna I wouldn't say it has no artistic meaning, although it doesn't delve too far into its themes and ideas I think it presents a really interesting vision of being trapped in a system and wanting to break free. The lyrics of this song support this idea if you read them from Connie's perspective; "Every day I think about untwisting and untangling these strings I'm in. And to lead a pure life. I look ahead at a clear sky. Ain't gonna get there. But it's a nice dream, it's a nice dream." Connie wants to break free from being a criminal and a bad person, but he's stuck in a cycle that perpetuates this behaviour. Ray's flashback is a good example of this idea as well, when he's talking about getting dropped off after being released from prison he says that the bus left him outside a liquor store, keeping him trapped in a cycle of his own. All these characters in the film are stuck, and the only one who manages to break out of their "prison" by the end is funnily enough Nick, as he's finally free from his brother once he's been arrested.
@@bugsshillelagh3179 Thank you!
What about if it was THE best movie
“Most of life is people in a room, trying to be better.” - Daniel Lopatin
The way Iggy says "It's a nice dream" shatters my heart. He sounds so hopeless and tired: living a life of trying to get what he wants, and always failing.
It hits hard. I can relate so much
Ain't gonna get there, just is what it is sometimes.
Purely emotional track. Iggy Pop sounds like a modern day Johnny Cash. Reminds me of 'Hurt'.
HaroonMJKL that was Iggy Pop
I thought it was Cash!
@Jack Burton
This is the perfect analogy for the Modern Iggy Pop
Same for me :)
@Jack Burton lol okay that's hilarious
i’m obsessed with Good Time. the movie never gets old to me and i just keep watching for the thrill. thank you benny, josh, and rob for making a masterpiece.
Same
The ending scene of this movie is so powerful. One of the best films of the past 10 years
The part that made me finally cry in this song is when someone says 'cross the room if you've ever been lonely' and Nick just stands there, because he's never been lonely with Connie around
Connie loved Nicky. But he’s taken advantage of him and clearly isnt equipped to take care of him.
nobody commenting how good the song is. "go to a place where we can do everything we want to
And we can pet the crocodiles" is so ill. monumental track
divan osoba really reminds me of Of Mice and Men. In fact this whole films kind of reminiscent of that novel...
I was repeating these lyrics in my head and that’s why I’m here.
yea totally makes sense
That line single handedly made me age backwards to baby mode
What is that referencing? Petting the crocodiles? I’m sorry I just feel like I’m missing the point of this video
The Lighthouse ultimately brought me to finally notice how phenomenal Pattinson is which then lead me to this movie. Cant praise him enough, has become a favorite
Pattinson's eyes, man... They carry such crazy emotion and depth. Also, he's tripping balls and you can't tell me otherwise.
I agree
Foo looks *LIT!*
Yes his face is dark
Grat comment but did he really tripped? :D Did he took acid?
@@marvinkem3201 you can not act a movie like this on acid. Maybe a funny movie, but not when you must keep a certain required look or face. He is just a great actor, surrounded by a great team in this movie.
The fact that GOOD TIME flew under the radar is nuts how this movie didn't get nominated for anything is beyond me fucken great movie
i love how the weapon connie carries is old-fashioned. it can mean that the trauma he has spans across generations of their family, keeping him in the same cycle of downfall
Can you explain about what you mean a little more? I just dont get it even though I watched the movie one time
On Pattison before Good TIme: Oh he's that weirdo shining vampire guy from twilight.
On Pattison after Good Time He's that amazingly talented actor from Good Time.
Dude!
After the news about him playing Batman, pretty sure many poeple will finally notice his acting skills and stop complaining and hating on him because of Twilight.
@@jumanaa can't wait to see him in Batman, he's gonna nail it.
@@jumanaa Yep. It took that news to get people to give his movies a chance and not just think of him as the twilight sparkly vampire.
I always knew he was a good actor, but Good Time definitely gave me a whole new respect for him. What a character and performance.
i lost 2 friends to suicide in the last 3 years, every time I listen to this song I just stop and let them have their moment
I'm sorry for your loss. I am glad you have found solace
Sometimes the connection with something true, beautiful and deep is so instant and so disarming. This is one of those times.
This film left behind a strong sludge, not a single film this year left me in the same powerful impression as this, the best film of the year, and the composition is incomparable!
Good Time is a masterpiece.
Good Time was one of the best movies I've seen this year. I highly encourage anyone looking at this comment to go to the movies and watch it. 💕

Holy fucking Christ, the reply section has been poisoned.
WTF happened to this comment section.. 😂
What's heartbreaking about this video is that, even in the world where they get away with the heist and stow away somewhere secluded, we can tell that neither Connie or Nick have peace. Connie is seen trying unsuccessfully to get Nick to eat something, he's frustrated and angry and paranoid. I like that this exists as a counterpart to the film, to kind of ask us whether this outcome would have been better in the long run for either of them.
2:22 that music is fucking beautiful. It’s something I’ve always wanted to hear but never heard in any other song before. Wow.
You need to watch some late 70s and 80s movies homie. Even stranger things (ode to that time) has soundtracks like this.
U guys have to listen to Compass by Disasterpiece if u liked that moment, pls lmk if u give it a listen :)
check Blade Runner Soundtrack
@@benijager1372 gave me goosebumps
2:22 is phenomenal. and I love those synth sounds too after Iggy Pop says "Love" at 3:12.
GOOD TIME was the biggest rush I had the theater last year... the end credits had me in tears because of this song and the brother.
Same. I cried too. It was a sad ending for sure.
Those synth sounds made me so sad for some reason idk why.
I like how this video seems to suggest an alternate ending where Connie actually succeeds in getting a house with Nick, but as shown not only would these two simply not be able to live together but Connie is then reminded of who he really is, a hungry predator. It would be pretty depressing.
This *was* the ending in an early cut of the film!
Aint gonna get there. But it's a nice dream
@@boy_troy pretty sure I saw the director interview where they said this was a dream sequence they had planned…i to thought it was the original end but think that is just a runout after watching the interview
Honestly this not even being nominated for best original song is the biggest Oscars disappointment for me
Indeed.
The Oscars are a disappointment
it's kinda all politics, unfortunately
After the disappointment, we all feel, we Forgive, and return to Purity.
this movie is so close to my heart idk its the thrill the whole of the movie movie so dark so mysterious thanks to everybody who was involved in this movie.
Cross the room if you've ever not gotten along with your family members sometimes.
Bastard Child 😞
I like how that's the one that gets Nick to finally cross the room.
Fuck that absolutely destroyed me, cause Nick really doesn't want to be there, he doesn't enjoy it at all, but this is technically what's good for him and the only thing that gets him to participate is questions that make him think of his brother and family. And he can't do anything about it. God damn.
Samson Goodsir It also kind of makes you realize how lucid Nick is compared to everybody else in there, he is perfectly aware of what happened, of his feelings and his condition, which is why he is probabably suffering the most :(
LOL!!!
This movie reminded me of the novel “Of Mice and Men”
Wtf literally thought the exact same thing
Only similarity is Nick and Lenny and that's comparing an autistic dude to a big dumb oaf
@@xarachne8473 Actually some articles say that Good Time can be considered an "homage" to Steinbeck's novel and you can find many references of the book in the movie :)

this song is holy. whether you're religious or not. it touches something deep and visceral in all of us.
Good time is one of the best movies i have seen in the past couple of years. moved me so much.
Fun fact, in the original script for good time this was an actual scene that was supposed to be filmed. Obviously not this exact scene, but Connie has a vision is the original script just like this. Great movie!
3 years later still my favorite movie and song
this song sounds like a memory
That's not CGI, it's actually Iggy.

Beautiful song that digs deep and hits a cord within esp that ending scene of the movie. Broke my heart...I had to walk out holding back tears until I got outside. Such a ridiculously touching movie ....didn't expect that! Genius..everything about it. Hoping they win big at the awards...no other movie came close.
damn, when I listen to the lyrics, especially in the spoken interlude: " Every day I think about untwisting and untangling these strings I'm in
And to lead a pure life
I look ahead at a clear sky
Ain't gonna get there
But it's a nice dream, it's a nice dream ",
and part 2: "Some day, I swear, we're gonna go to a place where we can do everything we want to
And we can pet the crocodiles"
I recall the novel of John Steinbeck " Of mice and Men" and draw an analogy of main charachters - George and Lenny to heroes of this film - Connie and Nick. There is much in common between the film and the novel...
Andrei Ziatiev beautiful comment there’s so much similarities to that book kinda like how Connie and nic were set up for failure like George and Lenny they were nothing and they try to make something for themselves but it goes wrong Connie is willing to do anything for nic and George for lenny but they can’t it’s like there fate is made up for them
i never realized that was the familiar image in my head until i read this
Such as?
I watched this movie 3 times already. It is a good one. It reminded me of people I know. This guy had a lot of love for his brother. I have worked with mentally ill people, and a lot of them do not have family members who want to be bothered with. The song at the end is SAD.
You could argue it was out of love that Connie pushed his brother to try and live a full life. Although, he has trouble completely understanding the world around him, he is capable of wanting to live a normal life and Connie knew that. Was it out of malice, convincing his brother to help him rob the bank? I believe those scenes are purposefully left out of the movie to suggest his cruelty. However, what we do see is Connie talking to his brother after the heist, praising him, thanking him, cherishing the rush. You could argue this is what Connie knows and finds fun and thrilling and wants his brother to feel these things too. He has no reason to lie to his brother in this moment. I mean, Jesus, he spends the rest of the movie either trying to bust his brother out of jail or get the money to bail him out. That's my case for Connie. He's a good brother, but deeply flawed.
I think Connie was a bad influence on Nick, but he was the only person who didn’t patronize him.
Even when you, as a spectator, cannot break away from the adrenaline, intensity and emptiness of the atmosphere during the whole film, where you only need to go forward, this comment, the ending and the song makes it tragic as f*ck
I guess what basically this song wants to tell us is that who always acts from love is damned in this world of crap and greed. The pure are the damned.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t
.. damn
Anakin Skywalker is probably the most famous example of this tale
i love to think about this video as an imaginative epilogue where they really do make it out there
"The truth is an act of love" my favorite line from this song
robert pattisnson is a best actor
So haunting, this song has destroyed me since I first heard it months ago. Killed me the three times I saw it in the theater, and now this. A completely new experience, just as powerful and thought provoking. Thank you.
how can you die three times? is that new thing in roblox?
AMEN!!!
My Dad passed suddenly in May, and Good Time came out shortly after. If you've noticed, it seems like EVERY movie this year involves the death of a father ... saw Guardians of the Galaxy the day after Dad died and the catch scene nearly destroyed my Mom and I ... then that Cat Stevens song!
What gets me about this song, EVERY time:
"One day, we're gonna be in a place where we can do anything we want. We can even pet crocodiles."
Hold on ... some fucker is cutting up onions.
agreed a 100% the movie was breathtaking and powerful, loved it a lot
@@xandb2641 yeah robolox yeah defo mate
@@peternygren3215 I don't want to sound judgemental. But... Your dad passed suddenly, and you were watching a movie the day after? I'm not even referring to mourning. People mourn in their own ways. But even from a practical point of view. I mean there are procedures and family shit to do....the day after.
Hope he's in peace now.
One of the strongest pieces of music I've had the pleasure to hear.
This video is 8 hours old but combined with the song, somehow gives me nostalgia.
The synths @2:22 absolutely captures how hauntingly beautiful this movie was.
This song is the VIBE i'm always looking for.
Chills. The lyrics - I can't even get started on their magical beautifully written truth.
Current mood: Touched by an angel.
"I think i was a dog in my previous life. In fact, i know i was..." I believe that has something to do with the ending of this video, the look in the eyes of Connie tells us that he sees this, that he realizes he is about to hurt himself (or an animal that represents a symbol to himself), and then Iggy ends with the words "Love... the damned"... That animal is damned, but he awaits for love, you can see it in his eyes, and through showing love (in the form of compassion) Connie is realizing that he has to love himself to be saved, and to saved his brother.
At least that is the sense i make of it... The first time that i watch the video i thought that it was just trying to be "artsy" and surreal, but after watching the movie again this hit me, and i think is beautiful... In fact, i know it is. (Sorry for my english)

Still mad this movie didn’t at least get an Oscar nom for best actor for Robert Pattinson. He has become one of my favorite actors since I saw this movie.
Every day I think about untwisting and untangling these strings I'm in.
I have been an Iggy Pop, fan for 40 years and he still surprises me. What a deep voice to go with deep lyrics. God, Iggy is the best. Love you Jimmy!
Breaks my heart every time...including this one. What might have been had Connie and Nick been able to pull it all off, leave the city and live on a farm. But even on a farm, the danger is still close and Connie has to defend Nick in his own way. I hope this song and the movie snag multiple award nominations and wins including Oscars. Oneohtrix-Point-Never and Iggy Pop have given us a heart-rending ballad for the Twenty-First Century's Of Mice and Men. We've never needed this song and this movie more than now.
Thanks for spoiling a movie that's been out for a little more than 3 weeks. This movie premieres over here on Friday (Sept 8).
I think that Connie is oppressive for Nick, according to the ending of the film and this clip. Leaving the city would just be harder for Nick

Lol I'm pretty happy things ended with Nick getting the help he needs and Connie where he belongs. This video almost serves as a "what if" alternate ending, but it's definitely not a happy one and seems incredibly bleak for Nick. In this version, Connie's fully abusive and narcissistic nature seems to come out and make Nick's life a living isolated hell.
