    Press and hold 0 (zero) to get reading of the radio's charge, in volts.

    I'm just about to get one for emergencies. What do I need to use an exterior antenna? I know I need an antenna but how does it hook up what would I need with this exact radio and a J pole antenna? Thank you

    2:10 - Your pushing the top ptt button and transmitting on the top VHF frequency of 168 and not the bottom UHF frequency of 442.175.

    Hold down '0' to show battery voltage. Works on all Baofengs.

    Erik could you please do this exact same test with the GT-3TP...Like the look of the 5Tp but I need to know if the 3TP actually transmits 8w on most of its frequencies...I saw the 8w test you did but that didn't have UHF of VHF and different frequencies.

    Shouldn't there be audio input to test true "maximum" potential?

    HUGE question for me... I'm new to this stuff. do you not add on the SWR reading? not quite clear on how the meter works

    • @haxboi5492
      @haxboi5492 3 месяца назад +1

      He's using a dummy load so the SWR is like 1.02:1, it's negligible

    Hey Eric!! I have a noobie question
    for you: when the mic was keyed,
    the power meter swung up to
    11 watts, then settled on 6 watts.
    When modulating, would the power go up above 6 watts?
    What is the peak power on
    this radio? How much average
    power does this radio have when
    modulating? I ask because we all
    see radio techs checking the
    power with a Bird meter. They
    check dead key, modulating power,
    and peak power. Forgive my
    questions, but if I don't ask, I
    won't learn!! Thank you for all
    the videos you post and for
    helping us to continue learning in
    our great & fantastic hobby!!
    Your loyal subscriber & student,
    73 from Montreal, Norman.

    I like the meter movement and cool radio but how does it handle intermod ?

    • @sweetgyy

      that's cause that radio sucks

    At 2:11 you meant to key on (B) UHF but you keyed on (A) VHF again.

      You are right. OOPS, ok, so ill add an annotation. But its 5 watts at least.

      But this is the 2nd video i made on these radios, and it's only to show it in a dummy load, because my inbox fills up with tons of messages when they disagree.

      @rmetcalf89 8 лет назад +1

      +HamRadioConcepts lol. easy mistake. Good video and information though! I was looking into getting the GT-5TP. but I think I'm going to go with the UV-82HP

      +HamRadioConcepts I don't understand the significance of using a dummy load.

    Does it make sense to buy GT-5TP instead of GT-3TP-M3 ?

    About par. I got two generators. One made on Friday night. (Pour runner.) Monday's. (happy as) a collie dog. I find that on Chinese radios. It all depends on the makers attitude. Happy worker= good toy. ect

    1.5 SWR on a dummy load at UHF?

  • @texasprepper869

    are they a sponsor? if so i think you should disclose that

    • @HamRadioConcepts
      @HamRadioConcepts  8 лет назад +1

      Not a sponsor, although I would like to get some sponsors for my channel so I can upgrade my video quality and some other better graphics and software. As far as their company, I really like this store versus shopping on eBay or amazon. so many people on my older videos that claim they bought a radio on ebay or some other site, had issues and never got a resolution or response to make it right. Radioddity has a good customer service base, and they try to stay current on the models and info. so I choose to promote them over someone else.

    • @VoeViking
      @VoeViking 7 лет назад +1

      You don't need to upgrade nothing, just do a better rehearsal before shooting the video. Also review it before upload to avoid things like tx in vhf thinking its uhf. The information that you convey is the most important part, graphics and shit is cosmetic. Focus on info.

    Realize testes em frequências de VHF 144.000 a 148.000 e em frequências UHF de 430.000 a 440.000. O desempenho parece ser muito melhor.

    Sounds like the Chinese to lie about something like this... advertise at 6 watt radio as an 8 watt radio. Heathens! Great video! N8XLQ- 73’s.

    When I hear the words Baofeng or Btech all I relly hear are the words Sh*t and Crap. People will try to roast me for my comment but it will fail as my view is based more on fact than opinion. These radios have been proven the be cheap noisy garbage as most all these radios are not FCC compliant meaning they are illegal to use. Anyone that gets a fine for using them deserve it, last i check its 10,000.00 bucks and if I can prove someone is using this junk I will certainly turn them in. If you can't afford a better radio then think about much you can't afford the fine.
