wow i didnt know she came back from 2 match points down to win her 158th record breaking singles title. When tennis magazine wrote about the match, it never mentioned anything about being 2 match points down.
People commenting on the late Novotnas (rip sweetheart) mental fragility - give me a break- thats exactly what made her so enjoyable to watch- plus the style of game she had- she was fantastic to watch- credit has to go to the LEGEND Navratilova here- amazing match: both wore there hearts on there sleeve: both have to be my fav players- net rushes - along with McNeil/Garrison - all nervy-but I think that comes with the type of play- Goolagong was probably the only one that hid it well
What a dramatic ending match. Jana Novotna let slip away two match points and had probably bad calls against her. One year after at the Wimbledon Championships she finally beats Navratilova for the first time.
Francisco De Oliveira and then there’s the famous final with Graf where she lead 4-1 (40-30) hit 3 nasty shots 2 of them are ugly (double faults and easy forehand volley).. but she will always have 98 Wimbledon Final 😉
If Jana had won this match, I believe she would have become one of only three people to beat Navratilova and Graf in the same tournament, after Evert and Sabatini

This is her 12th title here?- how come its never talked about?- unlike Rafas 11 or 12 Monte Carlo or 13 FO?- but never Martinas 9.
Que gran coraje para Jana, desgraciadamente se le escapo el triunfo. Bien por Martina aunque no era mi favorita
Jana just couldn't get a break, could she?
gosh, Jana created her own problems here and imploded. i wish she had better control of her emotions.
