Well, it exists, and it's called KeePass. This fork, KeePassXC is an awesome piece of software I dive into in a multi-part series. This video shows installing and using KeePassXC on Windows. You should show users how to check the hash of the file to ensure they're download/installing a valid, clean, non-tampered with copy of the file -- these are ALL their passwords after all. It's more than a cautionary step, it's a requirement.

      If you just use strong and long password (at least 8 words) it should be fine.

    How do you remember that long master password?

    • @demeaningplebny1363
      @demeaningplebny1363 Год назад

      Write it down. After you have entered it enough times you will remember it. If you don't, that's why you have it written down.

      @Voodoo Yam Does KeePassXC allow user to select an install location?
      I just installed and tried BitWarden... which did not offer me an option to change or select a location for installation. After the installation, I looked for the install location but could not find one... instead, seemed like it just shat and dumped bits and pieces in various folders all over my system drive. So I immediately uninstalled it without even bothered to create an account or use it. It did not even fully uninstall itself. It left some messes in my hard drive, and I had to manually delete the leftovers.
      There are plenty of password managers out there, and I would not suffer an app that does not let me choose an install location and just piss all over and left messes in my hard drive.
      Anyway, does KeePassXC allow user to select a location for installation?

      @Voodoo Yam I ended up installing and using KeePassXC. Frankly I HATE putting MY things "on the cloud". It's MY stuff, and I don't want to let anyone else -- ESPECIALLY corporations and businesses -- control and own any of MY stuff. I know nowadays corporations want to own all of everyone else's stuff, (i.e., consumers' and employees' and individual contractors'), and not let everyone else own anything (even if we've paid for it... which they would reframe as just being a lease or licensing agreement,) but if I can help it, I ain't putting any of MY stuff on the cloud and let them actually control and own it.

      @Voodoo Yam I use Bitwarden too, What kind of vantage do you have using both? 🤔
