I could swear you're the only guy on youtube who actually listens to Seger. This is the first instructional video I've found that is accurate. Thank you. I didn't have a capo so I tuned my guitar a half step down. Played A, G then D. Now that I know there's a capo involved, I can understand things. Thanks a lot! Please keep making videos.
Hey Steve. Just gotta tell you that this is the best lesson on Night Moves out there. It's one of my all time favourite songs and like most of Bob Seger's songs a lot of it has to do with the strumming rhythm and patterns. I love playing along with you as you make it so easy. Still practising precise finger placement for the quick chord changes but having a ball! Bert T 73 yrs old from Montreal, Quebec
That cat matches the colour of your Stratocaster Steve, perch there on the couch, let me guess the cats name FENDER if it isn’t it would certainly suit him, great lesson by the way as always

Thanks for this video. I'm just starting to play again after a long time and my strumming and picking are lacking. This song is just what I needed to practice on, but I'm having some trouble figuring out exactly how you are doing the muffled strum beat between strums.

Hey, thanks for this video, man! I picked up a guitar a month ago and I've always wanted to play this song. It's still tough trying to switch comfortably between chords, but I'm hoping that an hour of playing per day will solidify the muscle memory over time!
Jeez buddy, you're everywhere! Just got finished going through 2nd module in 96 licks, lookin for some acoustic stuff and - BAM! - there you are again! Of course you had to have the Ibanez sittin' in the background ... with the cat! lmao
great job!...here comes the but....but you left out the outro...i founnd the cords though..right at the very end there's and Em, a Bm, Am, C, and end on G

Steve! Your strumming lessons are REALLY awesome! Thank you! Was wondering..can I purchase a Steve Stine Strumming complete DVD set? That would be great! Thanks again :-)
Thanks for watching, Gum! :-) Re strumming patterns, Steve usually uses a more "organic" approach. Which means, instead of teaching a set strumming pattern, Steve shows you how to find the rhythm of the song and play it in a way that feels natural to you. Follow this link: guitarzoom.com/products/strumming-made-easy-3 ...scroll down a little, then watch the video in the middle, "1 Critical Rhythm Skill." In that video, Steve will talk more about organic strumming. So you can play songs with less stress, and sound more authentic at the same time. :-) Just wanted to let you know, if you enjoy Steve’s RUclips videos, you should definitely check out the new GuitarZoom Premium Membership → guitarzoom.com/join Members get unlimited streaming of more than 50 of Steve’s best guitar courses, like CAGED Made Simple, Music Theory Made Easy, Play Guitar For Life, Blues Guitar, Rock Licks, Acoustic Guitar, and many more. Good lesson. Students, understand the instructor's guitar is tuned 1/2 step below concert pitch. That's why a capo is in the first fret so that it will sound in tune while playing along with the actual song.
BachRock Actually no, the song is written in C sharp; thus the capo @ the first fret. I tried to play to the recording in standard tuning but it didn't work until I used the capo. Of course you can still play the song in C natural without the capo but you wouldn't be able to play along with the studio recording. Depends on which key is best for your own vocal range.
I'd like to just get to where I can strum without looking at the frets! Been playing for only a few months and got the basic chords down. I'm now trying to play them properly to form something.
It'll come eventually. Just keep at it. I was faced with the same situation when I was first learning, and really wanted to play this song. Give it time, and with the practice, it'll all work out. Just take it slowly, that's the key. Good Luck! Cheers!

Sounds great but WAY too fast to pick up the correct strum pattern, especially considering the complexity. Too much assuming that every one is getting this with this unusual strum pattern

Thanks man
Your a nice player
Two thumbs up!
Look at that wild ass cat back there!
Love your demeanor, get er' done. This is it, think about it, do it, see ya later.
What’s the chorus strum pattern?
Y am I the only one that liked this video this man is good at what he does
why is quality only in 240p o.O. Love this dude though beeen really helpfull helping me learn guitar. Awesome videos man
Yeah, this one is a bit older, when I was trying to figure this whole "video" thing out :-)
As the cat licks itself to Bob Seger.
steve there's a chord change @ the end... i cant figure it out... can you help me?

nice...
hey brother Steve.
not only guitar but we also share a love for cats 🐱
a minor (major) problem for me here is I need to hear where tthe tune or the melody sits here, other wise I'm kinda lost...
I play this in G no capo. Easier to sing those high notes! Seger has played it lately in F.
What is with the capo in many videos for this song? I just watched a video of Bob Seger live and he isn't using a capo and is playing it G-F-C
Bob Seger has a lot of guitars, so it's no problem for him to have one tuned a half step sharp. The rest of us can pop on a capo.
The cat is a Seger fan.
❤❤
Throuhing in a capo make things more difficult and I don't have one anyway.
Why is that cat giving the Ibanez stink-eye?
Sounds great but WAY too fast to pick up the correct strum pattern, especially considering the complexity. Too much assuming that every one is getting this with this unusual strum pattern
