We don't tend to remember the hardships and headaches of a project when it both comes out well AND does good numbers, something like this or Apocalypse Now, but we do remember them all the more for projects that either are not successful in the box office or subjectively not good, something like The Super Mario Bros movie of ye olde 1993 or The Island of Dr. Moreau of ye olde 1996. But hey, at least for the latter, that does present the opportunity of cheap rights acquisition prices to get put on a generous boutique label.
Great video as always! Long time fan! Can I propose a movie? MONKEYBONE I read that the script had some notoriety back then for being really good, but there was a lot of studio meddling that kind of ruined the movie! I would love to see your treatment of the backstage drama. It also "ruined the career" of some involved!

When will the video on the making of "Toy Story 2" be released? The film's 25th anniversary is next month (November 24th, 1999) and it would be a great opportunity to release a video on the making of the film with the anniversary of the film.
@@ItWasAShtShow The production of the first "Toy Story" film faced significant challenges as well, particularly due to what became known as the "Black Friday Reel." This reel was created after Jeffrey Katzenberg, then-chairman of Walt Disney Studios, insisted that the film should appeal more to adult audiences by becoming "edgier" and "more cynical." In the reel, Woody is depicted as an unlikable character who allows his leadership role to go to his head and treats the toys he oversees very harshly. When the reel was presented to Disney executives, including Katzenberg, Roy E. Disney and Thomas Schumacher, on November 19th, 1993, they were disgusted with the results. John Lasseter, the film's director and co-writer, felt embarrassed throughout the screening due to the characters being portrayed as extremely unhappy, unsympathetic, and mean-spirited. This reaction nearly led to the film's cancellation. In response, Lasseter requested two weeks for rewrites to improve the film. The executives ultimately agreed, and as a result, a cinematic classic was born. The featurette titled "Black Friday: The Toy Story You Never Saw," included in the 2010 Blu-ray and DVD release of "Toy Story," provides more in-depth information about how this reel was created. Sounds like no one would want to work for you anyways
Y'all ever gonna do Firefly/Serenity?
If they've been forcing changes to appeal to women for decades.... why are they getting worse at it.
Look, I love James Cameron but dude is lucky he still has all of his teeth
That man sure does like eating candy.
Cinematographer Dick Bush?
We don't tend to remember the hardships and headaches of a project when it both comes out well AND does good numbers, something like this or Apocalypse Now, but we do remember them all the more for projects that either are not successful in the box office or subjectively not good, something like The Super Mario Bros movie of ye olde 1993 or The Island of Dr. Moreau of ye olde 1996. But hey, at least for the latter, that does present the opportunity of cheap rights acquisition prices to get put on a generous boutique label.
Love this
No way Remar loaded a live round. That's a fabrication. Never heard that before. Simon Atherton would never have let something like that happen
If only there was a source that popped up on screen at that exact moment…
Tf is the alien trilogy
Great video as always! Long time fan!
Can I propose a movie?
MONKEYBONE
I read that the script had some notoriety back then for being really good, but there was a lot of studio meddling that kind of ruined the movie! I would love to see your treatment of the backstage drama. It also "ruined the career" of some involved!
I could only imagine Clint had some great things in his closet for this
19:22 Well that aged well…
3:34 holy shit I cringed so hard, I'm surprised you didn't say "incels" or "Nazis"
does the 3 hour version exist?
Having read OBannon's script, the dialogue is really bad and corny. Someone breaks the silence after the chestburster comes out by saying "that thing was using him as an incubator!".
11:05 and cool it was!
@ItWasAShtShow, could you do an episode on Das Boot ?(1981).
Ah ya this is the good stuff😌
CLINT
There are TWO alien movies.
When will the video on the making of "Toy Story 2" be released? The film's 25th anniversary is next month (November 24th, 1999) and it would be a great opportunity to release a video on the making of the film with the anniversary of the film.
I already made that. For the old channel.
Thanks for the reply. 👍

@@ItWasAShtShow Thanks very much for your reply. I really enjoyed the video about the making of the "Alien" trilogy and the stuff you put out on your channel. 👍
@@MylesCallaghan-y4e Katzenberg was disgusted by something he asked for?
ALIEN 3 UNDERRATED
Letterkenny baybeee!
For me, the franchise ended with Aliens. No lice planet, no clones, no engineers, no missing Franco, no alien from the first film preserved in deep space.
Alien 3 is still crap. Good looking crap, but crap just the same.
Nothing about Alien Resurrection?
Still waiting for a Terminator 1&2 Shit Show video
They kind of weren’t though.
