    Just started this kit,I'm hoping to build it as "Picadilly Lily" from the 12 o'clock high tv series.

      Excellent choice. It’s always fun when you finally decide on a plane. Then watch the shows for inspiration..

      If I had the coin I would build one from the box and one with all the upgrades and then compare.

    The G version in 1/48 built nicely. I'm now looking for their 48th Lancaster.🤗

      Good to hear. I’m awaiting the “G” in the mail. The Lanc should be cool too.

    Would you recommend this kit or are there better B-17F kits out there? I have been trying to find 1:48 scale kits (1:72 is getting to be too small for my eyes and 1:32 is too large).
    I am hoping to build a B-17F in the style of "Ye Olde Pub" after it was hit and was being escorted back home by Franz Stigler.

      I would say that this 1/48 HK kit would be your best bet. The 1/32 is ok, but does have some fit issues. The old 1/48 Revell/Monogram kits are nice to but lack detail.

    I am assuming regarding an "E" version, that HK will come out with it separately in 48 scale.... also for those not in the know regarding the "E" nose, the combat E's with the 8th AF in Europe had the same enlarged windows as the F did, so if u had the E style nose glass and the early style top turret cover, u could have an E that served in Europe...U said and it was hard to see, for the top turret cover versions that come with this kit, does it have the early type A-1 as the 32 scale kit does ? Because, not only E's used it, early F's did too..

      The “E” has 3 small windows on each side of the nose and the front glass was rubbed. I don’t think HK is coming out with a “E” kit? Just like the first B-17s with the chin turrets were actually Fs. I think your not hearing the video?

    • @inclusivemodeldesigns16
      @inclusivemodeldesigns16  3 года назад +1

      I can't speak to if HK will come out with a 1/48 B-17E? My point in the video was that unlike their 1/32 kit you can't build one. Sadly. So if one wanted to build an "E" version they can't or lets say a movie "MEMPHIS BELLE" it's a no go with this kit.

    How are your 1/32 projects coming along mate?

    • @inclusivemodeldesigns16
      @inclusivemodeldesigns16  3 года назад +1

      Unfortunately I had to abandon the projects. I tried to help with another project adjacent to mine and ended up ruining the models. On top of that, I lost all the build videos when I tried to compile them. Now with saying that I do plan on restarting a 1/32 B-17 in the future. In the meantime I will build the 1/48 scale B-17s without interruption.

      I forgot to show the decals. Other than the "BELLE" you get one other option called "OLD FAITHFUL" It would be cool if a manufacture would do something like "Invasion 2nd" or something like that?

      @@inclusivemodeldesigns16 Yeah,I'm complaining again.It just seems with thousands of B17s waiting to be made famous they could have done something else.That nubbin on the Astrodome is the early model.The clear one is the late model.The mid to late model Fs were the most interesting because of all the Companies making the planes.Douglas,Vega Boeing and so on.A resin Cheyenne turret was available and the G model nose is visibly different from the F.Its fatter by a small amount.Watch Memphis Belle you can see the difference.👍

      @@model-man7802 I agree with you. I misspoke a few times in this video because their are so many variants of the B-17. A late "F" is kind of a "G" LIKE HK's other 1/48 model. But then most don't know that.. If HK came out with like a B-17 Upgrade kit that would be cool. Then you can make whatever you want! Just a thought though....

      @@inclusivemodeldesigns16 Bob Koster made his B17 conversion kit back in the 80s.You took the G or F and could go from a D all the way up to the vega and Douglas built noses including the E.I think I still have the vacuformed E noses he sent me.The kit was for the swoosh goose that escaped the Phillipines and the kit had the needed tail and everything.about five options for the F nose alone. Except the new nose in this kit which held a single 50 or twins if you had your crew chief weld a frame around the inside to support the weight and relieve jarring from the recoil.Reall cool kit.

      @@model-man7802 I used to have Bobs sets years back. When I last spoke to Bob many moons ago he had sold his molds or something to that effect? I have not seen sets out in forever! The Vega nose is one I wish companies would do more of.
      With this build I will obviously change up things to make it my own and show builders what’s available to them for the most part. Take FLAK for building up the interior then closing it. LOL.

    U mentioned that after market included the external ammo cans for the ball turret.... FYI.... those external cans were never used on a "combat" aircraft at all.... according to the manufacturer's manuals, they didn't start being shipped onto delivered aircraft prior to the end of hostilities in Europe.... No aircraft that had them were used in combat... all combat B-17 ball turrets only had the internal ammo storage...

      What are you talking about? All Sperry Ball Turrets had ammo cans that sat above the turret. Where do you think the ammo came from? IMD is talking about the Eduard set that allows you to make said cans.

      I am not to sure what you mean by "FYI.... those external cans were never used on a "combat" aircraft at all.... according to the manufacturer's manuals" but am interested on finding out? I am speaking of the cans that sit just about the turret that feed the guns and turn with the turret. Maybe it will become more clear as I build? www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/URG/b17fortress_sperry_ball_turret.html
