Great review as always Ashish. we love your height and water bottle references, so you don't really need to explain why autoportal talks about it. I liked how you chose to focus on the smaller updated bits like soft touch dash and rear boot covering which i haven't seen in any other review yet. all have focused on the LED light bit. I agree with the steering feedback bit too. It was designed for ease of use in daily driving and not for outright handling, There is a reason they are calling it the 'CITY' :D One thing that confused me is that the City has always been a CVT(last torque converter was a 5 speed in brio IIRC) but you mentioned CVT and 7 speed torque converter option, did you mean CVT with 7 preset ratios for the paddle shifters or does it have a different 7 speed gearbox option?
What a car!!! Purchased it after a tata safari and loving every bit of it. Awesome drive and control. Getting a mileage of 26 on highways and 20 in city with AC on. Superb vehicle.

Last month May 2017 I took the test drive of both cars Petrol CIaz Alpha and Petrol City VX versions before coming on short official trip to UK. Once I reach India in Sep 2017 I am will decide one among these two, I am Inclined towards City but 3 lakh price diff among these is another factor which throws me towards Ciaz. 3 Lakh is good amount i can buy one sport bike.
BHP and similar other points does not matter as they are neck-in-neck, suffice the need as buying this car for office and City drive purpose. Below are my observations so far and its my personal observation may differ from yours and not any intentions to hurt anyone's feeling here.
What I Liked in Ciaz Alpha Petrol
1. Awesome product from Maruti Suzuki after long time.
2. Side look is 1000 times better than city.
3. Long Car, Side profile reminds me my Honda Accord 2014 model which I bought in USA. It’s really Long Car which is good for Indian Families these days. Number claims that city is 50 MM shorter then Ciaz but it appears city is 100 MM shorter than Ciaz.
4. Good Mileage compared to city.
5. Comfortable ride and spacious than City.
6. Good price of Alpha, 3 lakh’s cheaper then City Vx.
What I did not like in Ciaz Alpha Petrol
1. Does not look a solid build from outside. City Looks solid Build from Outside.
2. Front headlamp does not go well with overall front look but overall front look is simple and good.
3. Quality of plastic found better in city facelift 2017
4. New Product has all the bells and whistles but it does not have that premium tag yet which might come after few years, that’s where Maruti has been struggling since last many years, hope this product will fill that gap now after some time.
5. Not Face Turner Yet.
6. City Steering gives better feel then CIaz.
What I liked in City Vx Petrol
1. Most of the things are good in city but few worth to mention which I liked
2. Front look is well proportionate and looks awesome and Check for me.
3. Side profile looks good and well proportionate but not awesome, this is also Check for me.
4. City’s interior cabin is much luxurious then Ciaz Alpha. Big Check
5. City’s overall Design. Big Check
What I did not like in City Vx Petrol
1. Looks small (Length + Width) overall in size compared to Ciaz.
2. City Vx 3 lakh’s expensive than Ciaz Alpha. Big Amount, can buy one Sport Bike.
3. 2017 Facelift looks tiny compared to old one at this price tag.
Honestly go for Honda city VX. Recent GST implementation has decreased the prices significantly. Also the petrol engine of Ciaz is a bit noisy than.. the city probably because of poor sound insulation and honda cars have excellent built quality. Ciaz gets mowed down pretty easily.

Honda city 2017 is amazing
This new version has got somany new features and especially nvh levels are reduced which ws one of the main problems of this car.. so what about your old customers honda..!!! Honda shudnt just work on clearing out issues in their newer verisons but they should give an option for the older customers to incorporate the updated changes too.. thank god i din took honda city last version which i was planning to take by December 2016..
ashish sir, ur reviews r too good compared to other channels i must say and pls don't mind some negative comments.. they shud think that autoportal are giving us an option to write our comments despite of some other channels like cnbc overdrive and all who has blocked their comment section..
Ashish the Honda city petrol automatic is a CVT and to be precise it’s a 7 step CVT it’s not a torque converter.
I only wish Honda have the Diesel with the CVT option

Well can you advice me which car should I go for in diesel. I have been using petrol cars ever since 1996 starting with Maruti 800, ford ikon, Opel corsa, hyundai accent, Honda city and brio......But now I want to go in for a diesel car. My priorities are that it should be sturdy in handling and riding comfort with lower mentainence and a good fuel efficiency. For city as well as for long distance cruise. Which would you recommend between New generation verna and Skoda rapid. And why. Thanks.

Overall good review Ashish, but how can a CVT automatic have a torque convertor? That does not make sense. Perhaps you are referring to the "7 Step" feel that Honda may have artificially added (like the Corolla Altis 7-step CVT automatic), to give the driver the feeling that there are indeed 7 separate gear ratios, when the truth is actually that in a CVT the gear ratios are infinite.
I VTEC is not that hard to understand.but for now, At higher rpms, the engine is allowed to suck more fuel. And vola.
It will be great if you can test the real world fuel economy figures. I know it is time consuming but it is worth it : especially in the Indian market.
I'm confused. It comes with a 7step CVT gearbox. Why do you mention it to be a torque converter??? That seems misleading information

Honda City has a CVT gearbox not a torque converter automatic gearbox, Please note...
Nikhil Paradkar gearbox is a torque convertor, the transmission is cvt both are different. google it

It would be great if you could review the options for infant/kids car seat fitment as well. With growing govt. safety regulations and customer awareness, it might be worth your time. For example, in 2017 City, I would like to know if there is a middle position Top Tether available. I learnt that, there are ISOFIX mounts and Top Tethers available for the outboard seating positions. I believe that more and more cars would have these as standard features going forward and it would be a very valuable piece of information while choosing a safe car!

@ 8:20 mr ashish says honda has 7 speed torque converter, but spec says honda city is equipped with cvt which we know it doesn't has any gears. which one is correct. please enlighten.

Can you tell me how to switch on The Parking light of Honda City ZX CVT. Once you press lock after 15 sec everything goes off even The parking lights and I didn't understand this logic of Honda and make no sense :)
