  • After replacing the heater resistor pack, and the fan motor, I thought I'd finally be able to get some heat in the car, yes?
    ...
    No! It turns out the car wasn't getting up to temperature so I set about changing the thermostat. Getting to it, not so difficult, Getting any sort of tool in there, near impossible. Enjoy!

    Been there with a failed thermostat and no toasty air in winter but also pulled the intake manifold and did the PCV hose behind it at the same time. The extra time removing the intake isn’t that much more than what it takes to work on just the thermostat and sorted another of the “little issues” these have with age.

      I’ve heard a lot about the PCV value. Causes idle issues right? Mine seems okay but the Red ST I’ve had on the channel needs the PCV doing. Does the thermostat have to come out to get the mani off?

    • @TheKittyRanch
      @TheKittyRanch 3 года назад +2

      @@MendItModIt The PCV hose can be done without removing the thermostat, but if you’re removing the manifold it’s sensible to change the thermostat and the PCV valve itself. Plus clean the oil-air separator (behind the plate on the side of the block) as well.
      All simple jobs with the manifold removed. Some people will say you can do the PCV hose without removing the manifold but they’re either wizards or have tiny hands and long double jointed arms.
      Was about 4 hours to do all that start to finish plus I had to spend extra time on the top radiator hose (did all my cooling fixes in one go)

    Good tutorial & explanation 👍. Say did you have to remove the alternator? What size tools did you use to do everything apart from the clip clamp, as I gotta do this too 😢😅. Thank you

      Alternator is down the back on the ST so no you don’t need to touch the alternator. From memory most of the bolts for the thermostat were 8-10mm but it was a long time ago

    Hi mate great video, I've subscribed. I've got a black ST 150 project and the temp only sits at about a quarter when I'm just driving normally on a 60 road. Is that what yours was doing before you changed the thermostat? Mine gets to full temp when the car is sat still but as soon as I start driving it drops to about a quarter. Do you have any Ideas what it could be?

    I don't have an ST but on my Mk6 Fiesta 1.4L the coolant drain is bottom of the radiator, passenger side.

    Well done not easytogetthat one your fluids from the rad you should be able to get rid off it at your local dump if they take old oil they should be able to take toxic fluid ? Now if you cannot get enough heat a bit of cardboard or tin plate at the bottom of the rad will do ? A 1920 thermostat

    • @MendItModIt
      @MendItModIt  3 года назад +1

      Local dump will take it but the said they just chuck it in landfill. I thought there were ways to recycle it. A 1920 thermostat 😂

    Usually when it comes to oils I take it to a garage and ask if they take old stuff to recycle, you can also go to your cities recycle centre. For coolant I just pour it down the drain as it ends up in the sewers and it’s gonna get treated at water plants.

    • @Nyle95

      I've heard you should only ever flush it down the toilet (if you can't take it to be recycled. NEVER down the drain.

    Hi mate , I've got a mk 6 fiesta , I recently changed my battery but after I did it I lost the use of the radio , I noticed you have the same radio in your car , do you know what the 4 digit code is for resetting the radio , thanks for your videos , I'm very similar to you as i fix what I can on my fiesta mk6 , kind regards Tony from bedfordshire ,👍👍

    • @MendItModIt
      @MendItModIt  3 года назад +2

      Hi Tony. The code you need will be unique to your radio I believe, if you have the owners manual someone may have written it in one of the books (like I now have in mine) or if you have the original radio card it would say on there. Failing that if you join one of the MK6 fiesta pages on Facebook and ask on there there’s normally someone willing to find out the code for you. I’m not sure how they do it but that worked for me. You need to find out the radios serial number by holding down buttons 1 and 6 for a few seconds. I’m assuming they can find the radio code from a database somewhere. Actually entering it is another challenge. You use buttons 1-4 to enter the 4 digits, each press of button one takes you from 0-9 and once you reach the desired first digit on button 1 move on to button 2 and so on, then once the full code is entered press button 5. I hope you get it sorted, let me know how you get on 👍🏻
