Proud to say my cousin is one of the artists that worked on meow wolf extremely proud to see the final product, glad you enjoyed
Awesome 👍😎
Waaaay to go cousin! And thank them for us directly 😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Yes, thank him on behalf of all of us! Meow wolf is always so impressive and over the top creative. I'm an artist my self and I have no idea how these artists come up with these creations. Absolutely breathtaking
iam still a window dresser and i love whats happened here its just incredible , its well jaw dropping well done to the team at meow wolf
My sister did too she did the Jareds bedroom and the brainseed
I hope this is how malls will evolve. Indoor sports places and meow wolf..experiences to go along with places to buy stuff.
I wanted to say thank you so much for taking a picture with my friend and I. It really means a lot to us as your video is the reason we found out about Meow Wolf! Thank you so much!!
Wow im so jealous of this mall, our mall is a ghost town, they should put in cool stuff like this instead of just a bunch of overpriced clothes.
4 miles up the road from there is a dead mall. Basically when Grapevine Mills opened in 1997, we immediately started seeing a decline. They tried to update a few things, but it didn’t matter. The only thing keeping that mall alive is the Cinemark, and the Korean Sears. Basically this huge Korean marketplace called Zion Mart. That store is literally the ONLY reason I still visit, and is a mall within a mall, so it still doesn’t help it much, but when you close at 7pm, why visit the mall? The Korean Sears stays open longer than the mall does because they actually have customers.
@@UmmYeahOk Exactly. That's the deal about malls, that a given area/population can only "support" a limited amount of mall. We miss the days when malls seemed abundant, but it was really being "over-malled" and doomed to reach a balance eventually.
We had just moved to NRH at the time it blew my mind that there were 2 full malls literally on opposite sides of 820 from each other, with even ridiculously-similar names, North Hills Mall and Northeast Mall. You could almost practically throw a rock from one to the other. Wife 'n I had to practice literally calling them "mall number one" and "mall number two" to keep them separate in our heads. THAT was the apex of absolute, unsustainable over-malling. I really put the resulting mess of them all closing and needing demolition and all the waste at the feet of city developers that not only didn't prevent it but fed into it, pure short-sighted greed, and banks keen to throw loans at it. It's like the city didn't care that this process was going to directly cause the older mall(s) to go under and be become a blight.
It was a very big deal when GM's opened, but I remember thinking "what about the malls around here that aren't doing so well? How can they manage to stay in business?" Well, the unimaginable would arrive, and those malls started closing, so beginning the "dead mall era."
And I'm totally an 80s kid with as much good memories/appreciation for the "mall life" back then. It's just annoying how the American way of over-doing things runs the very things we love into the ground.
I'm glad GM's is doing exceptionally well, but the reason why is because the area competition is long-since dead and gone. And also, from the beginning, it has made a conscious effort to be seen as a tourist destination, not just a local mall. When people vacation to the DFW area, this mall is marketed to them as a place they should come to as much as Six Flags. Just look at the license plates in the parking lot on a weekend. As much as half of them are out-of-state. From day one, that's what gave this mall an edge, but also a "side hussle" they had to maintain. But they did it very well.
Meow Wolf dove-tailed right into that perfectly!
@@Cre80s yeah, I’m not sure what they were thinking, both city, banks, and developers. This year I brought my kid to Alley Cats in NRH, and on my way home, decided to visit the abandoned Mountasia before Peppa Pig broke ground. I couldn’t understand why they would have two family fun centers so close to one another.
That said, mall 1 and mall 2, I always got Vista Ridge and Valley View confused with one another. I think because they were both Vs. That, and a major road within is named Valley Ridge, which just combines the two, but before Grapevine Mills opened, I remember being sad that they were closing Prestonwood mall, but it was a few blocks to Valley Ridge, and the Galleria was a mere one street over it felt like. Apparently there also used to be a mall on the other side of 635 near those as well. I thought it was odd that the Galleria had three floors but nothing on it. Also, in the early aughts, North Park mall was so dead, they were leasing it as office space. Who’d’ve thought that not only would the Galleria finally get those third floor tenants, but North Park would double in size! I like to go there and see if I can remember where the original 60s brick is. They did a very good job matching it. But really, was it Valley Ridge and Prestonwood that were keeping those two malls down?
With Vista Ridge, Grapevine Mills was honestly closer to us. And road conditions back then just made things worse. If it was going to take you an hour to drive from Flower Mound to Lewisville, you might as well drive to Frisco and check out Stonebriar. That was my favorite mall. Why they built Willow Bend so freaking close, or how on earth it even stays open, I’ll never know. It was literally a ghost town when it first opened!
Serves Vista Ridge right though. In 1980, Denton opened Golden Triangle Mall. It was a big deal because literally the only mall option involved driving into Dallas. My mom would drive from Denton to North Park Mall to work. So then 8 years later, when the 80s recession had slowed growth of the area, Lewisville opened Vista Ridge, just a few miles south of them. Golden Triangle suffered horribly.
I will say though, that being a small one story mall, Golden Triangle has done quiet well for itself finally, at least compared to Vista Ridge. It’s not one I would suggest visiting, but if you’re a local resident, it’s worth it on occasions. They at least have most tenants spots filled.
Grapevine Mills, like all Mills at the time, is an outlet mall, so technically different. Yeah they get airport traffic, but you did mention out of state plates, indicating that they drove there. I don’t see too many out of state plates like I used to. In the late 90s, it was an honest game I used to play, Spot the Texas plates. You see that area EXPLODED in growth, so many of those out of state plates were owned by people who just moved there. I used to work at that Rainforest Café, so I know it was sort of a tourist spot, but not really a destination like it is now. Grapevine wasn’t the “Christmas Capital of Texas” yet. Gaylord and Great Wolf weren’t there yet.
No lie, I got a big smile when I saw Jen was finally back with you. Lol I'm glad you guys had an awesome time. Thanks for bringing us! the merchandise is so cute!
@TheCarpetbagger We love you and Meow Wolf is the Best place We've Ever seen you film. You have one of the Best Jobs in the World 🌎 💯
Carpetbagger, Always Good to see JENN! She steals The Show.
Glad that Meow Wolf: The Real Unreal is opened and you are with Jen again Jake! I remember when there was a Rainforest Cafe at the Franklin Mills Mall (Philadelphia Mills Mall now) and it was just a regular chain restaurant, but they have cool animatronics.
Sport areas and Meow Wolf in the mall is a great idea when hot weather.
Looks like fun. It gives me an 80 and 90s vibe. I miss rainforest cafe, fun memories. Most of our malls are gone.♥️♥️😮
Yay! Jenny! Welcome to Texas love you.
grapevine mills has done a great job of keeping malls alive by bringing in family and all age attractions along with stores. gives a reason to stroll the mall while waiting.
I don't understand the decrease in the popularity of malls. I hope they make comeback at some point.
@@laurag9203 i’m only 21, but remember malls here in dallas being a major thing. We still have northpark, but that is the closest thing to an old school mall. even that is falling apart though :/ i could only imagine how fun malls used to be even before i was born
@@CMANGUY Stonebriar Mall in Frisco is alive & thriving, too. But, yeah, a lot of the other local malls died a slow, painful death before finally closing.
@@JustGettinBy1321 that is true, i spent a lot of my time at town east and looking at it now makes me so upset
Such a cool place Thankyou Jacob for taking us ❤❤❤❤
I went to that mall a few years back, you could spend days there and not run out of things to do!
Being from and living in the DFW area. back in the 90s, I happened upon a Walker Texas Ranger filming location. I got to see Chuck up close. Was pretty cool.
If you can see Chuck Norris, Chuck Norris can see you. If you can’t see Chuck Norris, then you are seconds away from death.
Hi there from South Africa and it is very cold here
How cold is it there? In F° please.
@@mr_jake.y8348 it is winter and windy and foggy here it going to rain tonight night.
Was awesome meeting you this weekend!! Always welcome to stop by and say hi at Spencer’s again man! Safe travels!!
Loved the Rain Forrest Restaurant especially with all the animatronics.
9:55 that bald eagle is ashamed of his balding is why he has the hat on. And I don't know how he can punch without a fist, but I guess he'll just wing it. You need me to write your stupid dad jokes, Jacob. lol
MR SAVAGE
Welcome to Texas Jenn❣️ Sorry it's so hot. Unfortunately, this is what Texas weather is in the summer. Jacob, take good care of my sweet girl. She isn't used to this weather. Love you both ❤
Hello Carpetbagger and Jenn txs for showing us all the cool stuff at Meow Wolf
The Kitchen brought back memories. I grew up a "Sunny Yellow" Kitchen 🥰
Love the Mall Walkers. I needed a good laugh 😃
yes Jacob! Fun Fun Love watching you have fun with what you ❤
I've been watching your channel since the beginning. I still love the adventures!
Hell yeah I’m early, currently 12:30am for us Australians but I’m still watching this, love your content dude, you always make me feel like I’m actually experiencing these things💪
This place is marvelously out of this world😊
Thanks, Jacob , for taking us along on these amazing adventures.
That damn claw machine
just so you aren't shocked! Legoland Discovery Center and Peppa Pig require a child to go inside
this mall looks sooo fun! I wish I could go! thanks for all your amazing adventures!
I get it, but as a parent of a special needs child, I wish places didn't do this. Nice of you to pass on the info though.
@@laurag9203I'm pretty sure if you have a disabled needs adult child they would still let you go in there. They essentially have the mentality of a child still.
@@spookytaco666 they likely wouldn't but they could easily get into legal problems denying someone with extreme disabilities (however people tend to treat them as adults unless the individual doesn't register themselves as one, the days of treating them as kids is gone as it caused more problems).
Jen looked like slash from guns and roses with that cowboy hat on. Nice to see her again.
Welcome back jen
Yay!! Jenny Penny!!
Awe how sweet glad to see you n Jen together it's been so long !! Happy adventures to the both of you have fun 😊❤🎉

I can't wait to visit this. I know a couple of the artist who worked on and designed parts of this Meow Wolf, I'm excited to see the final product. Not watching the video to avoid spoilers but still leaving a like!
Welcome to Texas guys and yes it is hot
I’ve been a follower for years - what a SURPRISE to see you were at my hometown mall where I grew up! It’s sure changed a lot since I was a shopper there - but I do have a distinct memory of having to bail from that exact Rainforest Cafe when my little brother couldn’t handle being seated next to loud elephants. AWESOME!
We almost went to Grapevine Mills the day you were there! Looks like you had a good time.
Good to see the both of you. ❤😊
Yall are the best grown up kids on the planet ...love the channel and jenn and carpetbagger makes a fun enjoy life couple .😊❤😊❤😊
That Dream Father game is like the relationship mechanic in Elder Scrolls: Oblivion lol
Yea! Jens There! 👋
So glad to see you guys together ❤️😊
Jacob is killing it this year awesome video keep up the amazing work
Wow, that really is unique-- a mall that is still open!
Or full 😂
So much fun! J3 - Jacob, Jen, and Jeff! I think I would need several visits to discover all the things there.
Every animatronic at Rainforest Café had a name. The crocodile’s name is Nile. My first job was working there back in 99-00. When they closed, they would drag the fencing doors around the water, and CAGE the crocodile. Not lying. They would actually put a cage over him! Of course back then, they had live birds too right next to him (currently there’s a bench). Makes you wonder why crocodiles taste like chicken.
Thanks for sharing Jacob the Carpetbagger at the meow wolf adventures lol you have fun, always stay safe my friend 🤓📸👍 it's good to see and have Jenny with you she's a joy.😊
Have been WAITING for this video!!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼
You can't go wrong with best art group meow wolf

Love this amazing video carpetbagger and as you say this one is in the bag.
I was there on opening day and helped solve the piano code!!! It was so much fun and i'm so glad I got to find this video!! I was so excited when I heard you had a youtube channel :)!
Meow wolf is so cool.
Thanks for giving this neck of the woods some attention! Me and my daughter loves watching you, and Jen, and you have inspired many vacation trips for us. We visit Grapevine mills regularly and she was sad that she missed you by one day! She was there last Friday at LEGOLAND
Dude! When are we getting Meow wolf in the Pacific Northwest. I wanna go!
I just watched Meow Wolf's documentary last week. Somebody mentioned a project going up in Oregon.
I love it, great video Jacob.
Meow Wolf is awesome!
We need a deeper dive into the Meow Wolf mystery...
Hunter Thompson and Art of Noise references. We're going to a whole new level! Meow Wolf is mega weird. Totally cool. We're really enjoying your summer videos! I especially love the carousels. Hope to see you out there some time! :)
haha the dreamfather game is just the Oblivion haggle mechanic
Your Claw machine skills are nothing compared to Arcade Matt’s skills, he’s a LEGEND at the claw!
There’s a Sea Life and Rainforest Cafe at Mall Of America in Minnesota too!
I believe that’s the original first Rainforest Café locations, 1994.
Jacob, someday your tombstone is gonna say “I don’t think I have been in this room before either!” 😁
I thought it was gonna say, "Coming to you LIVE!" And maybe have some compressed air thingy built into the stone to really freak people out, lol.
@@BeeWhistler I like "Our chariot awaits." But you could fill a book with fun Jacob quotes.
That Claw Machine may be an “opening day attraction.” I swear it was there (but in the food court) back in the 90s.
awesome
Awesome, love this!
I want to go to a Meow Wolf!
Omg! We r in Colorado to come see it in person, sad we missed opportunity to see u
While you are in the area consider checking out Morgan’s Wonderland Theme Park , it’s goal is to be accessible to disabled kids
You were in Grapevine! My hometown! I can’t believe I missed you
I was there!
jacob is straight winning this summer. man is really living his best life. Thanks for all the videos Jacob always a pleasurer watching !!!!
looks like so much fun at MEOW WOLF Jacob omg and the guy with the glasses reminded me of the acter from the 80's movie Mannequin when he at the widow giving you the sticker lol, and we can't forget how cute and fun it is to see Jen as well. Big shot out's to MEOW WOLF.
lol the barb wire in a claw machine :)
Jacob!! I have never been so disappointed to know that you had no clue of the best love song ever made. Moments of Love by Art of Noise. 10 mins of passion!! Slow dance with Jen to it. :) I've never seen you dance & wiggle so much!! I can't wait to go to all the Meow Wolf locations!!
I like that they insert random weird people to give hints to reveal some secrets. Some people (me) are not as intuitive as others and would miss out on a lot of content!
