4:07 "haha, that's hillarious" - a man who really didn't find it hillarious
“Lol” - a man who isn’t really laughing out loud
The funniest part was how dead pan he said it because he completely missed the joke.
$3 from huge ass crack, thank you...
Lol fucking hilarious. Relevant to me as well because i was watching h3h3 Hugh Mungus vids today
I got a chuckle ehehe
Hahaha! $3 from Hugh Jazz Crack. And he didn't get it
Now that’s funny
Daniel you are a legend for this series.
Thx to GM Danya for his insights about the “why” behind the opening moves. Even as a beginner I’m getting the flavor of common relationships (weak king bishop’s pawn attacked by knight & bishop, pinned pawns, meeting a nasty-looking threat with a solid counter threat, etc.).
So the value of GM Danya’s content isn’t dependent on whether I’ll ever play the Baltic or the Chigorin. For me it’s following the reasoning involved because it helps me understand more 🙏
Love these Videos man. My chess hype started recently and you are helping me a lot
The Chigorin was first played not by Chigorin.
It was played by Anton Chigurgh.
Lesser know fact: by all accounts, Anton responded most enthusiastically to “what up my chiggah?!”
Ah yes in the game where he impaled his opponent through the head with a cattle prodder. Legendary moment in chess history
Awesome video on the Chigorin, I didn't know it was a thing. Amazing addition to my repertoire as a modern scandi player.
It's amazing in chess how one line leads to another. I play a lot of Scandi, but that sometimes leads to French or Gruenfeld. I play a lot of King's Gambit which in certain positions can transpose to Vienna. Now I see exactly how this opening relates to the Modern variation of Scandi.
How a scandinavian transpose to a grunfeld?? Grunfeld Main lines looks for a strong Center, scandi Main lines you exchange the e pawn. Something really wrong should have happened there.
@@luiscarrasco603 The Modern line is quite different from other lines. If the d pawn doesn't get exchanged it can end up something closed like a queen pawn opening. Granted I'm not a high rated player, so I will research what you are saying. It's also possible my opponents chose a bad line. Thanks.
@@BeFourCM Yes. You are correct. g6 variation of the Modern. Again, it'd do me good to review and see what the differences are. Thanks all.
@@andrew_owens7680 as far as i know, advancing the e pawn in move 2 (to not trade it) is bad for white, since it would lead to a very favorable french with the light square bishop out for black.
@@luiscarrasco603 I used to try to force Scandi players into a French when playing white with e5, but that doesn't work as the Bf4 is advantageous to black. Now I play the very trappy Tennyson Gambit with a very good record. Let it be noted that I'm playing bullet and blitz and that if I were playing tournaments over the board, my strategy would be entirely different.
2:59 Svidler on the roof
I’m watching the add before the video starts and I already gave it a like. That’s how good these speedruns are

"If you play the Baltic(defense) you should be prepared to lose some games quickly but you also should be prepared to win some games quickly ", Daniel Narodistsky, 2022.
I don't even play chess that much, but love watching these. Just getting into the mind of someone who understands something this well is really educational.....and the thinking can be applied to things other than chess.
I love it when you play people with less Elo and just school them easily, but I like it even better when you play against 1000s, because they make the same mistakes I do
I'm a fan of higher rated opponents most youtubers can't teach chess that way
All I had in my head was Levy singing “Rook b1, Rook b1. Make a move that makes no sense”
3:48 cmon danya
Wow, the Baltic! I never play 1…d5 but I just might for this opening. Fun!
I watched this video this weekend, and few days later I could play the chigorin defense. I could keep up the threat with knight to c2, although he tried checks and a queen trade, but I won....love this opening :)
I am just glad to see danya back to streaming after all the tournaments he's been a part of
Fell down a rabbit hole of QGD, Daniel mentions a variation so I need to look up his previous video, where he mentions another variation etc. Also it's 530 in the morning
37:40 'I got a quick win against Firouzja'
You what mate!?
Bro u rly help me out how to think and make plans on chess 💪🏻 ty
Absolute legend
i am loving these revisited episodes, the complexity of many of the later episodes have not been the easiest to process and understand for me. and i’m a 1300, i can only imagine that danya’s lower rated viewers have an even tougher time following. i still love and have seen all the masterclass videos, but the revisited episodes really keep it fresh. i love the content and education as always Daniel. all the best!!!
insanely interesting line, considering my slav defense was getting a bit stale, thanks Danya.
Huge Jazz Crack is good but Barry Mccaukinner still #1
Best chess streamer ever!
the prophet
My fav episode so far, loved it!
Who dislikes these videos?? Were they disappointed that Danya was just a GM giving lessons for free but that he wasn't also a hot babe?
What do you mean "isn't a hot babe"????
@@ostrol1590 he's cute but I think he skips leg day
Don't be too upset by it. Sometimes people have a bad day and are irritable. Sometimes people have a hate boner even for wonderful people.
Daniel is a hot babe though. I’d let him pin my rook any day of the week
Hughjazzcrack gotcha
When life is hard and I need a pick me up: 900 ELO, revisited
How you doing now?
Finally 2 games in 1 video.
@22:20 you handled that really maturely
Would love to see a losing game from you Danya. Could be instructive to explain what tactics you had in mind and how they were foiled. Love the lessons as always!
Ain't gonna happen on this level. It would be like you losing to a 300 rated player.
@@Mister.Psychology now now, don't overestimate him
@@Mister.Psychology yea fair I was thinking more about some of his actual OTB games against other GM’s
Think he's shown quite a few losses before
@@tristanbass-krueger7195 yeah but all of them were using chess engine to beat him
Your tapping on the table really makes me nervous
3:46
"f6, there's Queen h5 check ooooohh"..😄
Hey Danya, I love your content, but lately the constant tapping sounds has been really bugging me. You should look into microphones that aren't mounted on the desk or other ways to prevent the ambient sounds from being recorded. Thanks!
Yes, +1 on both accounts.
He has autism, please be patient with him.
the man
3:55 why thank you, Hugh jazz crack
Tough I like this
Love you
its Amimak the legendary twitch chatter!
thanks for your upploads, i have one question you say about openings or theory "go look it up" but when i check theory, i have hard time understand what happens if my opponents doesnt follow it and how i can punish it, how do i study that? is books the best opsion? I have think alot about trying to understand openings, how can i get help with that when i study solo? u said that on a grundfeld video
Thanks for your videos, i am currently a club player at around 1800 and looking to get to 2000.
The Chigorin’s aggressive nature is the perfect opening to punish those who don’t follow theory as you can see the center dies pretty fast but I don’t think it’s very effective because I learned how to get an advantage against the Chigorin and how to refute the Baltic when I was 1100. If you play a more positional opening like the Queen’s Indian then punishing mistakes will take longer. The easy answer is to ask yourself “the book move is good because it does this, now this square is not covered and I can jump there with my Knight (or smth like this)” but I find this a bit unsatisfactory, a better answer is to study more theory! You must not only study the book moves but also think what you would personally do in this position as your opponent if you had no knowledge of theory, if you use this method you will often have an advantage in the opening
I encountered a well played baltic defense for the first time yesterday. I was not at all prepared and had to calculate everything on the fly, still lost the rook. Towards the late middle game black made a mistake and I used to it salvage a draw.
If an opening is named after someone it doesn't necessarily mean they played it first
Danya, I love your content but please, do something to suppress background noises like finger drumming. It is really an earrape with headphones on.
Yo whadabout 13. Qe4 after 11. Qa4 Bxc3 12. Bxc3 Qe5 This leads to queen and knight trade. I looked with engine and these are the best moves but black is still just up a pawn. Worth it from black to resolve tension so dramatically just to be up a pawn still? Personally I would not call Qe5 a "winning idea" as danya does at 18:57
The engine evaluates it as -5 for black, probably because black has a better structure and much more activity.
@@nebuchadnezzar6894 Really?? Mine showed -2
At 18:15 doesnt white takes bishop queen move up 1 square hang the queen to the knight?
Ayyy 2 games. Also, you have 2112 subs 0.o

8:53 “white is losing”
If that isn’t insult to injury idk what is 😂
Hikaru has a stockfish ceiling, Danya, stockfish eyelids.
LOL
Not him telling people how to Google stuff 😂😂🤣
i wanna see you play a gross stafford gambit.
8:24 can't white block with either queen or bishop on e4/e2?
Yes, but either way you take on c3 twice.
@@Ninterd2 If queen block then you can't take if I'm not mistaken
@@Kokurorokuko you just take the queen and re8
Lets get some more Scandis!
Great series, but the constant tapping on the desk... maybe one of your subs could send you a thick pair of mittens?
fwiw tapping on your desk constantly is pretty rough for anyone wearing headphones while they watch your stream since the mic is picking it up. plz fix!!

Why the lower rated opponents?
The best part of the Speedrun is the explanation of the games with higher rated opponents, that aren't making obvious blunders.
Also I thought he was going to 3000 but for some reason that goal apparently changed.(?) I missed the reason for that
Most of viewers are lower than 2000. It's hard to learn from these 2200 games because his opponents don't make mistakes that 1500 player will make.
It’s helpful to be able to convert opening advantage and notice mistakes in the opening. I also assume Danya is going to keep going up the rating ladder as he did with the last speed run so we will get higher rated games.
That's what i think too, but unfortunately he's got to cater to his audience. He tends to cut off his rating climbs too early.
Still, they're great at any level.
@@tristanbass-krueger7195 Also it's well known that the rapid pool has more cheaters when playing 2200+ level. Kinda defeats the purpose of the speedrun if you are playing against stockfish every other game
first opponent sucked
I have never played Danya so I actually don't know if I could beat him or not. Sure I'm not a GM or titled player, but you never know. I may just beat him? Impossible to say really.
yeah i’ve never played magnus so i could mate him in 15 moves but idk
@@servy9009 Yeah I never played Magnus either so who knows, maybe I could Scholar's mate him.
