The point of my comment was to convey that the bully didn't need help from at least 7 other kids because the information from which I was given in the video contradicts that. This is a direct quote from the video, "since Talan was a lot stronger, he eventually had Preston on the ground. Then at least 7 other kids came in and just began repeatedly kicking him". The point of my comment was to emphasize that it was unlikely that Preston needed any help from the other kids and it was way more likely that his friends joined in on the fight on their own free will. The quote from the video describes Talan as being strong which contradicts any point of someone saying that he needed help. The main comment is wrong.

@monkeynumbernine sadly there aren't any good news for this. The courts kept lowering the bail for the 7 to the point last i heard only one of the 7 remain in juvenile detention. They declared them as 'low flight risks' even considering how the parents tried manipulating evidence and hiding them at first. The judge in charge of the case at first retired and a new one is being appointed in January to take over the case. Hopefully the new one takes this more seriously since the parents of these 7 seem to have quite a bit of money to freely throw around...

So if the son gets 15-20 years, the parents should each get at least 50%-100% of that same sentence.... but its Arizona, a "red" state, so likely justice will not happen. Something like this happened in my country, Malaysia. A 17-year old boy was tortured to death by his dorm room mates (same age as the victim) in a military cadet school for allegedly stealing a laptop which the victim did not steal. The details of the case were so horrific that the judge immediately sentenced all the murderers (six of them) each a death penalty.

Most violent crimes committed by juveniles come from poverty stricken areas. It's not a wealth issue. It's a parenting issue in most cases. This hurt my heart. I can’t imagine the pain of the victim’s parents. He tried to help his friend. That poor boy. He was the kind of person who stood up for others.
The perpetrator’s parents should be prosecuted. They attempted to help him escape. Clearly these are not people who accept accountability and therefore their son grew up being saved from the consequences of his actions. This is the result of poor parenting. Children need to experience consequences for their actions.

We've gotten to the age where parents wants to be their kids'best friends and not make the hard choices of an actual parent and when someone does do that someone would just flop to the floor and scream abuse. A lot of parents think talking is the only way and would refuse to do anything to make them look bad in their child's eyes and that's just bad parenting.
