Moonshine stills remnants are very common in Franklin County Virginia. Franklin County has a long history of Moonshiners and there are many folks living in the county today that were involved or had friends in the business of making and selling illegal alcohol. They are most interesting to talk to and hear the stories of some of their activities. We have heard lots of interesting things and always fun to hear more. The LCF Group has owned properties in Franklin County for years and most of then have old still locations on them. Most of them have many old still parts and some are in good condition. The 5 acre ( We have sold this property however it has come on the market and been resold - maybe it will be up for sale again )property in this video is for sale with owner financing. It is just great on a nice warm sunny day to take a stroll in the woods and observer the streams, animals and artifacts. The Blue Ridge Parkway is the common boarder between Floyd and Franklin County. We live in Floyd and you can learn about our county at www.visitfloyd.com or land for sale by owner at www.littlefamil....
We now have a real legal Moonshine Still here in Floyd Virginia - Five Mile Mountain Distillery. www.5milemount...
This video was produced by the LCF Group, ( We are on The Crooked Road Heritage Music Trail and the Round The Mountain Artisan and Craftsman Venue as a great place to visit ) Floyd Professional Center, Village Green, Floyd Virginia. The LCF Group consist of David Larsen KK4WW, Gaynell Larsen KK4WWW and Dee Wallace KG4VMI. We are all radio amateurs and also are Directors of The Foundation for Amateur International Radio Service ( FAIRS) also located in Floyd Virginai. Man, i would love to go hiking through the woods and see all these old stills and learn as much about the history as i could, ive been fascinated by moonshining for years now, but i live in Central PA and theres not much in the way of the moonshine here, maybe in South West PA you might find a few who do it, but nothing like down there.... I love history of any kind, but i really enjoy moonshine history...

Man I'm from Utah and we have like zero moonshine history or culture that I've found. It's definitely intriguing.

Back in the 90's my ex had family who made a little, even at that late date. Whether his son took up his hobby I do not know. His family is in the blue ridge mountains.

One time I went to paint the home of a family friend in Franklin county.
A gentleman who has since passed on asked me if I wanted a jar of shine.
    I said yes.
We hopped in the truck and drove to a field in the middle of nowhere...
He stopped told me to lift up a rock... pick the jar I wanted (blackberry) and leave the $20 under the rock.
    Welcome to Franklin county.🤣👍🥃

I am recovering from my fall from roof in June 2012 - I broke my leg, wrist and cracked pelvis. Good thing and blessing - I did not do more damage and have got back to functioning in all regards. Still have some healing but will not do anymore roof work. My wife and I just returned from Ireland and had a grand time. Posted several video's from trip. Dave KK4WW

There are a good many books written by the law fellows and the moonshine guys. Just finished 2of them. Hope to hear more from you. Dave KK4WW I. Floyd Virginia

Hi I would like to but it is 3 inches thick - it had a limited production of about 2 editions of about 1000 each - done by the author in Rocky Mt. Va. It may be available on line. It is very interesting.. The new movie "Lawless" about moonshine in Franklin County Virginia is good and based on real folks. I looked at it several weeks ago. Dave KK4WW in Floyd VA

Hi Chris - I do not know - I think I wanted to purchase a second one from the Author Kiester Greer not long after it came out and was out of luck. Only about 2000 or so were printed. I would think one would come up on Amazon sometime. why don,t you set up a Google Alert for the book title. Good luck. I was fortunate to meet up with Greer several times before he passedon.
