Ep 80 - Storms all around us!

In this episode we are excited to voyage to the Mentawai Islands and our passage is electrifying! An overnight sail is never fun when there is lightning about and this one was particularly bad; adding 4 hours to our trip time when we had to turn back multiple times to avoid large lightning cells. Needless to say we were relieved to arrive in Taupajet and spend some down time rafted up in Mango Bay with friends. We say goodbye to Oscar and celebrate Brodies birthday, the boys surf their hearts out and we even make a quick visa run to Padang.

Mango Bay is such a perfect place to camp out with friends. Seems it was worth battling those squalls. I think the port authority chap just wanted to squeeze your agent for a few bucks, and the poor guy got a bit flustered, lol.

Haha you’re right ! What we didn’t put in the video was that we had that chat 3 times over an hour same questions, same answers 🤦🏼‍♀️. Mango bay makes everything worthwhile though such a special place !

Great I see all catching up with other blue water sailors and wax heads to give the reef breaks a crack. What is disappointing is the Indonesian government’s and how corrupt they are, well there’s something that you have to highlighted for the sake of others vessels. Yeah the Mentawais certainly are spectacular and now our favorite pace in Indonesia. Mango bay isn’t an anchorage we’ll soon forget
