Matt, thank you so much for your help over the phone today. It was nice to finally talk to someone who actually knows what they are doing, and is willing to offer advice to someone regardless of whether they were a customer of yours or not. I'm definitely going to keep you guys in mind for the next enclosure that I need!
This was definitely the best video of at least 9 or 10 videos upgrading a factory Alpine system with the Alpine dash badge. I now have two 10 inch kicker comps with a 2400 watt kicker amp and even ran all the factory wires but had to mount the amp safely and out of view behind back seat but was worried about heat which so far even on a 100 degree day never tapered off and amp temp after about a 3 hour drive was never to hot to touch. Only changed the sub amp and factory 8 to two 10s everything else still factory and sounds damn amazing oh and those seat springs never rattled.....at least not yet.
wiring the LOC in a series is basically like "bridging" the loc to the dual voice coil. using one pair of wires from the factory sub and using the positive from one channel on the loc and the negative from the other channel. making the total input 4ohms instead of 8....I think..judging by the video..
So in a sense, your putting the left/right positive together then the left/right negative together from the sub factory wires and using on one set of wires on that LOC?
could you please clarify .... cap off one pair so it is unused.. and the other two wires plus and minus go to the loc in a bridged 👉[ - + ] [ - + ]👈 bridge? this positive & this minus
I wired mine up and for some reason after a lil bit the sub sound funny tired diffrent amps and subs sam issue and changed up how I’ve wired it still same
I need help knowing what of the four wires to use from the factory sub for my LOC. I'm currently using all four (LH +/- and RH +/-) i'm not sure if I even have them polarized correctly. This video is showing him using just two of the wires, why and which ones (color)? My current setup works but i'm wondering if I hooked it up wrong and could get better sound. Running a dual channel 400 watt (1200 max) amp, bridged. to a single 10" single voice coil 4 ohm sub. Same truck as this guy with the Alpine factory sub (removed). Any help would be appreciated!
Robert Clark. I watched the video again and have no clue as to why you thought I was bragging about frequency and IRRELEVANT JUNK. That is actually very important to understand when installing a sub. I took a small look at your channel though, and although I am not an expert I have made more contributions to youtube than yourself. People call me all the time and and I give them free advice on this and several other videos. So in short pick your words appropriately when commenting on my channel.
Hey SoundOffAudio, great video. I have a question. I have a 2015 ram with the standard (non-Alpine) system. I pulled up the carpet and found that sub wire with the clip on the end. My buddy gave me his stock Alpine sub/box. The one you pulled out of this truck I'd like to be able to hook that up. When I plug it in it doesn't work. Do you know if the sub cable comes out of my deck? Would you worry about hooking it up or just run a LOC off of the closest door speakers and get a small amp to power the sub? Any direction would be great. Thanks!
+Josh Lindsay well ypu need to hook something to those wires to see if you in fact have audio coming out. Then you should hook that to an LOC. That's the first thing
I just bought a 2011 Dodge and I took my box out of my 2005 Dodge which had a aftermarket radio in it and it was all RCA jacks my new head unit is the factory head unit for my truck and I want to hook it all back up and don't know how to
RedNeckRacing 88 from what I get from this he is taking the connector and taking two of the wires for the sub and capping the other two so the two hooked up have full power. I’m Not sure either if it would be better to get a factor box
Matt sounds like he wires so many audio systems he's lost touch with general public knowledge. This is another video that was intended to help people, but because its author is out of touch, only confuses people more. Instead of bragging about htz, and output levels and irrelevant junk, HOW ABOUT THIS: green/gray wire goes here, gray/white goes here. Im going insane now.
Hi if you read this I was wondering what to get in my truck it's a crew cab and I want to have at least one seat left in the back 4 psi 8s or two sa 12s
Actually 2009 and up and 2009 was the last year Chrysler put dodge on any ram truck title so if you have a 2009 ram Laramie in great shape and low miles hang onto it......just saying
Yes but all the seats are the same from 2002 to 2018. My underseat box fits all those. The 3/4 and 1 ton trucks retained the 02-18 seat style while the half ton changed to a new seat for the crew and quad cab.
So by wiring the LOC in series its putting a 8ohm load on the factory amp instead of 4ohm right??? Tus lowering the wattage down sent to the LOC so its not hit as hard??
question. i tapped into the factory sub wires and my amo has a high level input so i dont need one of there low level converters correct? and its alright to have a single signal wire going into the one high level input rca correct?
I have a question I can’t find anywhere else, I have an express and it’s base model but i found out it has all same hookups as a full trim truck I found the sub hookup, can I get a harness to hook it up to anything or just factory sub?
hey Matt, will this work only with the Ram that has the Alpine stereo that has the OEM amplifier already in it? I am going to assume that even tho these wires are in my truck they are not connected to anything on either. I opted to not get the alpine radio and just do my own build/
Need a video like this to run amp and sub from factory 6 speaker Uconnect system. Also, image stabilization goes a real long way sometimes. Just sayin.
SoundOffAudio ok I’ve ordered box woofer and amp and that little box, I just take that box hook up to two of the wires (don’t matter witch two right?) and co aux from that box to the amp and it’ll work?
i used the same lci2 and used four wires and it cuts out the base when turned up even with head unit bass as low as it can go and adjustments low on lc2i. would using just two take care of this problem? and can you give me a better explenation when you say use 2 if it is series there are four spots on the lc2i do i just branch off from the two wires to put 4 wires into the lc2i?

How did you wire it up wired mine and sounds horrible change out sub and outline converter

Could you show how you wired the loc in series?
Awesome Video. Its going help me later on
I’m wondering if I’m able to do what you did but keep my factory sun hooked up?
I wired mine up and for some reason after a lil bit the sub sound funny tired diffrent amps and subs sam issue and changed up how I’ve wired it still same
So to run the loc in series, you connect one wire from the truck to l- or l+ and the other to r- or r+?
I need help knowing what of the four wires to use from the factory sub for my LOC. I'm currently using all four (LH +/- and RH +/-) i'm not sure if I even have them polarized correctly. Where did you tie your remote wire into? I have a 14' sport with the full console.

I hooked up that sub, but no sound. I put a voltage meter on it (I'm not sure if speaker wire carries much), and I got nothing.
I just bought a 2011 Dodge and I took my box out of my 2005 Dodge which had a aftermarket radio in it and it was all RCA jacks my new head unit is the factory head unit for my truck and I want to hook it all back up and don't know how to

My Truck doesn’t have the alpine system but has the cable for a subwoofer how would i connect an aftermarket subwoofer to That cable without an amp?
I suggest an aftermarket amp and a line output converter
Where is the factory amp?

Hi if you read this I was wondering what to get in my truck it's a crew cab and I want to have at least one seat left in the back 4 psi 8s or two sa 12s
can you connect a after market amp to a factory alpine 9 speaker system and how???
like amp to amp...
Actually 2009 and up and 2009 was the last year Chrysler put dodge on any ram truck title so if you have a 2009 ram Laramie in great shape and low miles hang onto it......just saying

Wish you would have showed the wiring a little better
After watching this video, I slightly developed a minor seizure
Glad I could assist
Matt you sir are to dame funny and Awesome!!! Great vid
I tapped into my passenger side rear speaker to the loc2. Doni need to tap from the right as well ?
No
So by wiring the LOC in series its putting a 8ohm load on the factory amp instead of 4ohm right??? Tus lowering the wattage down sent to the LOC so its not hit as hard??
If you’re adding an amplifier the factory amplifier isn’t sending wattage lol it’s only sending signal which is then amplified by the new one
So does the line output converter give you your rca outputs for a amp then?
Yes
Can ya just add a sub to the factory wire if the vehicle didn’t come with one? With No amp? What’s the cons?
You can buy you aren't gonna get sufficient wattage
So if I have the alpine system and I want to up grade the head unit what harness will I need?
question. i tapped into the factory sub wires and my amo has a high level input so i dont need one of there low level converters correct? and its alright to have a single signal wire going into the one high level input rca correct?
So hooking an amp to another amp is okay? Like the aftermarket one to factory
Yes as long as you convert to high output to rca
I have a question I can’t find anywhere else, I have an express and it’s base model but i found out it has all same hookups as a full trim truck I found the sub hookup, can I get a harness to hook it up to anything or just factory sub?
Call me next week
Do you know if by doing that. Will it void the warranty on the truck???? Planing to add a pair of jl audio 10"s on my ram
no because you cant mount everything right back the way it was.
SoundOffAudio Alright good info, Thanks
You did show anything on connection the amp besides running the remote wire. How did you get power and everything else to the new amp?
hey Matt, will this work only with the Ram that has the Alpine stereo that has the OEM amplifier already in it? I am going to assume that even tho these wires are in my truck they are not connected to anything on either. I opted to not get the alpine radio and just do my own build/
+Bryden Hutlet
Will work on all amplified models
sorta thought it needs to be the amplified model thanks
Need a video like this to run amp and sub from factory 6 speaker Uconnect system.
Also, image stabilization goes a real long way sometimes. Just sayin.
Question, so I can hook up aftermarket 10s to the factory amp and it sound better? Or do I need a aftermarket amp?
Aftermarket amp
SoundOffAudio ok I’ve ordered box woofer and amp and that little box, I just take that box hook up to two of the wires (don’t matter witch two right?) and co aux from that box to the amp and it’ll work?
next pac c2a-chy23 to put amp on doors speaker
I put lci2 I used all 4 wire should I use 2 not 4 wire
+Jason King
You can use 2 if it is series. It just raises the ohm load on the factory
amp. That's why I do it.
i used the same lci2 and used four wires and it cuts out the base when turned up even with head unit bass as low as it can go and adjustments low on lc2i. would using just two take care of this problem? and can you give me a better explenation when you say use 2 if it is series there are four spots on the lc2i do i just branch off from the two wires to put 4 wires into the lc2i?
Just wondering if you could explain how to wire the line out converter in series.
call me 8506746363
SoundOffAudio still got the same number cuz I got a simple question for you
What did you use to power your converter
the factory sub amp
omg..... awesome.... lmao!
Literally showed nothing useful and filmed like it’s the Blair witch project 🤦♂️
I know it was a hectic day lol
