    In this video, I test this iHeater against 3 sandwich boards:
    ⭐iPhone XS
    ⭐iPhone 12 Pro Max
    ⭐iPhone 13 Pro Max
    For the iPhone XS, I found that 180C was way too hot. Basically, it destroyed the board. Probably should be around 120C on this unit.
    For 12 Pro Max, 180C was still too hot. It created a lot of solder balls & was able to split at around 160C.
    And for 13 Pro Max, it seems like 150C was the sweet spot.
    So if you're going to be using this tool, make sure to test it first before trying it customer's boards, otherwise, you'll end up floating the whole board & find solder balls everywhere.
    Also, I found the 12 and 13 series heat plates do not support the 5G antenna we have here in the USA, so this won't be practical to use for me.
    I do hope China starts considering USA boards, with the 5G antenna, with their future tool designs.

    What do you suggest for Samsung sandwich boards?

    • @VCCBoardRepairs
      @VCCBoardRepairs  2 года назад

      Not sure. There's no heater for samsung boards unfortunately. I usually just use hot air or the "flat" plate on other heaters.

  • @VladislavBaglai
    @VladislavBaglai 2 года назад +2

    I assume this heater has not calibrated temperature sensor, so it overheats boards. I doubt 180C can destroy X board, more likely the temperature was higher. Anyway, I would avoid using such heater. Thanks for the video though!

      Yeah it definitely wasn't calibrated. Not sure how to calibrate it either.

    May be you get a heater has something wrong, because i use it at 170 and 180 and there is no solder balls, no issues.
    I can say that for the specific heater you get because it's package has a sticker printed on it (110V), BTW I'm from a country which uses (220V).

    Jesse using to high temperature bend the board, iPhone X till 11 pro use 148 grades on the mid layers, for the ic and interposer down use 225 ( sac-305), for iPhone 12 up the solder is 210 and the hold board except for the interposer down that use 225(sac-305), in my case I put like 158 and then use the heating gun I use that technique in 12 models up. My prefer one is the mechanic ix10. I’m thinking buy the new mechanic model for 13

    • @VCCBoardRepairs
      @VCCBoardRepairs  2 года назад

      yeah but even at 150C, that was hot enough to melt the 12 and 13 models, it seems like.

    • @raulmorel1872

      @@VCCBoardRepairs no because use 210 in mid layer, I use preheater at ~150 celcius and use the heat gun with 375-50 with the quick 861.
