As uncomfortable as it is to watch I feel like Chris had the most normal reaction for someone on this show. It's always been baffling to me how some of these people are too shy to even make a voice call let alone video call for years, and then suddenly two other people and a camera crew showing you to the whole world are involved and they do a 180 and decide to meet up or have a video conference.

I really prefer them doing the show over zoom instead of actually flying out and meeting the catfish. The catfish generally seem like they're putting on a show when they're in front of TV cameras. They act much more like real people in their own homes without a camera crew watching them.

I see it both ways. Good side is that after 3 years of not doing anything for Courtney's sake and their friendship he finally worked up some courage to show her its really him. I really prefer them doing the show over zoom instead of actually flying out and meeting the catfish. The catfish generally seem like they're putting on a show when they're in front of TV cameras. They act much more like real people in their own homes without a camera crew watching them.

I see it both ways. Good side is that after 3 years of not doing anything for Courtney's sake and their friendship he finally worked up some courage to show her its really him. Yeah I understand having 2 strangers with, but he hasn't done it in private for 3 years. Time was for sure running out on them if he didn't do something. The down side of it is the pressure he has received and his reactions. You can tell he had some sort of trauma from his past about himself. And his "friends" didn't help it either making fun of him for it.
So I think he needed this boost for him to understand there are people in the world that genuinely cares for him and he almost lost that.

He wasn't forced to do anything, no one put a gun to Chris' head or threatened him to get on camera. I'm pretty sure he knew what he was getting himself into before he even jumped on the Zoom call. They encouraged him to reveal himself, sure, but he could've turned them down from the start or left the call at any time if he truly felt uncomfortable. There was nothing forceful about what they did or said.
