This would have been around the time that in the London area where I am, Thames and LWT (and some of the other ITV areas too) had started night-time broadcasting I presume, and yet here in the Grampian area they were closing down as all the other areas had before. I don't think it was until October 1988 that all the ITV areas opened all the time; so this was an interesting time for ITV I guess really. Thank you of course!!
Thames and LWT didn’t start 24 hours until 1987, at different points in the year.
@@stickytapenrust6869 Yes, that is so right of course-thank you anyway.
I think Granada TV in Manchester did Grampian TV late night when they went 24 hour.
Indeed that was the case so too.@stickytapenrust6869
@@Robbiewa-bg4luyes I think they did too.
Just out of curiousity, does anoyone know what time Nighthawks started that evening? I'm guessing after the News at Ten, but if that's the case, there couldn't have been many commerical breaks during the film, as it's only 95/100 minutes long and it was finished by 12:15 AM.
Also, it's interesting how the end credits are in yellow, as every DVD, Blu-ray and even T.V showing of Nighthawks I've watched, the credits have been white.
This was likely a TV edit.
TBH they could easily have fitted it in, Grampian are closing down at 12:25am, the ITV stations were only allowed 3 advert breaks every clock hour and 2 minutes of adverts per break outside of prime time, so that would have meant 8 minutes of adverts total during the film. 95 minute film plus 8 minutes of adverts would take it to about 12:18 (if starting the film at 10:35). That leaves time for the rest of the stuff here.
Any idea which Grampian transmitter this was recorded from?
There’s no way I can tell. This lot of tapes came from Selkirk, which is well inside the Border TV region!
Does anyone have a Christmas 1977 bbc 1 closedown?
No, that’s before VHS was released in the UK, so I won’t have it.
@@stickytapenrust6869 I think they used the christmas 1977 bbc 1 ident for closedown.
Is this true?
@@mask2314 Fuck knows.
you misspelled transmitter wrong
More like I caught the “b” key when typing it as it’s next to the “n” key.
Are you always this annoying?
@@stickytapenrust6869 no, I'm not.
@@fernlew8828 Then why are you being this annoying now, then?
@@stickytapenrust6869no need for it too either surely.
