Sintra Retirement Ceremony - Woodbine Mohawk Park (2023 November 18)

- MILTON, November 14, 2023 - O’Brien Award winner and Canadian Pacing Derby champion Sintra will officially be retired with a special ceremony this Saturday (November 18) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
A 10-year-old gelding, Sintra amassed 48 wins, $1.6 million in earnings and a mark of 1:47.2 during a tremendous racing career.
Owned by TheStable since July of 2022, Sintra won his final career start on September 25 at Grand River Raceway before his connections unanimously decided that the veteran pacer was ready to move into retirement.
Although Sintra finished his racing days with trainer Harry Poulton and TheStable, the son of Mach Three spent most of his career in the care of trainer Dave Menary.
TheStable’s Anthony MacDonald announced in mid-October that Sintra would be returned to the Menary Family to enjoy his well-earned retirement.
TheStable will formally return Sintra to the Menary’s during Saturday’s retirement ceremony.
Sintra provided both connections with career highlights.
Menary and co-owners Brad Gray and Michael Guerriero received a major thrill with Sintra’s upset victory in the $615,000 Canadian Pacing Derby in September of 2017. The outstanding pacer would then provide MacDonald and TheStable a memorable victory in the 2022 Gold Cup and Saucer in Prince Edward Island.
Sintra’s retirement ceremony will take place in the winner’s circle following Saturday’s first-race.
