yeah, they are like 18 when this was recorded in 89 and mbv just dropped you made me realise the previous year theyd be super inspired by those early albums
I'm hypnotized By the beauty of the morning light It draws me in and draws me out And in the breeze I feel the life Supping gently from my skin Silence fills my head and everything The water gently passes by As I sit here mesmerized I don't feel the way it drags me down Across the waves I see a light Shining golden in my path Beauty fills my eyes and everything Calling me The beach song sings to me I hear it calling me Suicide can't bring me down Your love can't turn around Suicide can't take me Suicide can't bring me down
More thanks for posting this. This was really hard to find even when it was new, and it's good to hear it again after many years. One forgets that Slowdive could jack up the tempo when they wanted to.
Critics were very annoyed with the essence of Slowdive sound (more dreamy), so they thought a change would be good. Also considering Just for a day came out in mid-1991, getting bad reviews and Loveless being released by the end of the same year, and getting universal acclaim.
Love this. The parallels to 'I lived my life to stand in the shadow of your heart' by A Place to Bury Strangers are remarkable. I wouldn't say they ripped off Slowdive though, seems more of an homage. Very cool.
@@NewDawnFadesX i agree, tho i do think it is a whole lot more similar to take me down than beach song, there's literally "take you* down" as part of the lyrics
woah slowdive more like fastdive
I would believe you if you told me this was early MBV.

just that bass intro has that much concentrated emotion. what a great song
love them forever ...
+Marcelo Rincon Well, she DID say forever
I'm hypnotized
By the beauty of the morning light
It draws me in and draws me out
And in the breeze I feel the life
Supping gently from my skin
Silence fills my head and everything
The water gently passes by
As I sit here mesmerized
I don't feel the way it drags me down
Across the waves I see a light
Shining golden in my path
Beauty fills my eyes and everything
Calling me
The beach song sings to me
I hear it calling me
Suicide can't bring me down
Your love can't turn around
Suicide can't take me
Suicide can't bring me down
Im hynotized by the beauty of the morning light..
Master piece
the only Slowdive I like

@@RJohnODonnell I Lived My Life to Stand in the Shadow of Your Heart has a very similar main melody.
💜
This was between Just For a Day and Souvlaki yet it has such a different change in sound...

This was two years before they released JFAD. They weren't even signed to Creation by this point.
@@jdlproductions2746 no, it was released in '92, jfad was released in '91

Sounds like a rip off to me.

lmao yeah, i saw them play live after not having heard this song for like 6 years and constantly was like HEY I KNOW THIS ONE FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE
They’re defo fans of Slowdive so I wouldn’t hold it against them, especially when both of the songs are so great
Nice
How cool would it be to own this flexi?
I agree
Ever released on a cd/compilation?
