Dharma is a mixture of rights, authority, prerogatives etc on one hand and duties, obligations, responsibilities on the other. Dharma is the relationship between two or more individuals based on the their relationship.
Every individual has multiple Dharma to perform/uphold.
A son is also a father, brother , neighbor, friend, provider, consumer, citizen, manager, subordinate and so on ..... Every such station in life has its own Dharma

Initially there was no caste system in Hinduism but 4 vernas based on our actions. Educationist, trader, warriors and Service provider. Which were later distorted to various castes. Fortunately caste system is disappearing slowly.

Manusmriti is highly tampered with. The original Manusmriti has verses like
yatra nāryastu pūjyante ramante tatra devatāḥ |
yatraitāstu na pūjyante sarvāstatrāphalāḥ kriyāḥ || 56 ||
Where women are honoured, there the gods rejoice; where, on the other hand, they are not honoured, there all rites are fruitless.

*Dear Lubna, please read this and search about the things I said:-*
*Several prominent scientists found inspiration in ancient Hindu texts:*
    1. Nikola Tesla: Studied Vedic literature, relating concepts of Akasha (ether) and Prana (life force) to his work on wireless energy.
    2. Robert Oppenheimer: Quoted the Bhagavad Gita during the first atomic bomb test, influenced by Hindu philosophy and its views on creation and destruction.
    3. Werner Heisenberg: Noted parallels between quantum physics and Hindu thought, realizing reality's fluid nature matches Hindu teachings.
    4. Erwin Schrödinger: Inspired by the Upanishads, saw connections between quantum mechanics and the idea of universal consciousness.
    5. Niels Bohr: Related the dual nature of quantum reality to Hindu ideas of Maya (illusion) and Brahman (reality).
    6. Carl Sagan: Admired Hindu cosmology's cyclic universe model, noting its similarity to modern scientific theories on the universe's age and cycles.
    7. J. B. S. Haldane: Praised ancient Hindu knowledge, recognizing its advanced insights in mathematics and astronomy.

One thing you will find in Hinduism is there are no mentioning of hatred against any other religion unlike Islam. There is liberty of thoughts, Liberty of actions(as it believes in Karma). So there is no restrictions about rituals & norms. You are free to do anything as your actions only be judged by the almighty, the supreme lord. Though there are certain rituals & sermons, it depends on you whether you follow them or not, its not obligatory.

Hinduism is more about an ongoing journey of knowledge than strict, unchanging rules.

*Caste system is a English invention.* Vedas talk about Varna system which is flexible. Manusmriti made it rigid but such books are not mandatory for Hindus, no book is btw. Maulanas, Brahmins, Fathers, slaves, Nobles etc such hierarchy and social order existed everywhere due to monarchy and it's not just in Hinduism tbh.
*It's the only religion with Female Gods and believes that all religions are equal unlike other faiths.* As an atheist, I'm comfortable with Hinduism and I appreciate it's gift of spirituality and yoga to the world. The ability to Reform is what I appreciate the most.
    Cheers 🥂

16:08 No, the influence of the Manusmriti is overstated, because the British used it when creating law codes for the natives. Tbh, the stagnation of what is called "caste" is a social process, with or without a book. The Smritis are as much a descriptive repository of what was considered ideal, as they are prescriptive... and the stuff in them didn't originate from them, but society at large.

Manusmriti is translated very badly by the British. Yes there are based rules in India where people were exploited and but that is not from the scripture. This was occurred due to several years of occupation. But hindus rectified it. British coincided the manusmtrithi with that and communists used it against hindus. India is the only country in the world where slavery was not practiced.
There is no world cast but 4 varna. Varna is a universal reality, which means division work based on individual ability, not by birth. Castisum was brought by the Portuguese and British. Yes, we have jatis. Varna is the reality. One country has one President, not everybody aspires to become president. How will the world run if everybody becomes PM, doctor, and engineer? Who will do the activities? It is determined by an individual's vasanas based on the result of their previous deeds. But every individual has no choice of their birth. But what to be after birth is his /her action. Karama= For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction to be experienced by the actor but not by anyone else.

Point of note, this philosophy part over-emphasises the Non-Dualistic schools of Vedanta, specifically Advaita. This is often done by both outsiders and Hindus themselves who only follow the spark notes version when intellectualising in English. Largely because the non-dualist philosophy is the one that is most distinct from Abrahamic standpoints.

Words won't get you there. It's better to take a little step then to read a thousand books. Only perception can get you there not information. Mind is just a permutation of what little you have already perceived, nothing new, it is incapable of knowing. Come to ISHA YOGA CENTRE,INDIA start with some basic practices, be in the sphere of dhyanalinga for some time. If your thirst to know is real you will get the answer in a moment. If it's just about curiosity then you will enjoy the place. But the seed of knowing, the seed of liberation will be sown , you can't escape it.

15:50 There is no such hard rule in manusmriti if you read sanskrit and hindi translation but one of the english translation created and popularised by british, in 1874 for doing divide and rule, has that wrong translation. Caste is word is a foreign word which is coined for english of the sanskrit word varna, which actually means job occupation. I agree that due to cultural nepotism birth based varna system did start much before britishers and they just increased existing fault lines.
BTW manusmriti actually says: :By birth everyone is born shudra; when the person becomes educated the person becomes brahmin; when a person works as a worrior or in army they become kshatriye; etc. Also when a brahmin person forgets their knowledge and also do not contribute in society they become shudra again."

Please always remember one thing. Sanatan is NOT defined. Always refer to multiple sources. There are no absolutes. We are a fluid belief system based on guidance and recommendations for the ultimate life experience. That is why you see and hear of so much divers in prayer methods or rituals or even celebrations. Nothing except the core beliefs is set in stone. Even the words of The Bhagvad Gita can have multiple interpretations based on your own experiences.

After reading the Gita or even alongside, you should see the Ramayan and Mahabharat (this also contains relevant extracts from the Gita since the Gita was recited by Lord Krishna during the war which happens near the end. Overall very informative video on Sanatan Hinduism.
Covered a lot of Scriptures. Anyone truly studying can learn a lot, even more than many Hindus.
About caste system as mentioned in video: In Gita Lord Shri Krishna speaks of Varna system, that too based on ones aptitude not birth. Later in last few 100 years back it became corrupt and birth became the benchmark. It took a name of Caste system a term imported from Portuguese "Casta."
Even Caste system is slowly going out in most states of India except a few.
    Overall good video.

We owned our flaws. We owned them and tried to rectify them. And today, our Constitution doesn't differentiate between any two people. We are all equal citizens.

No friend. Muslims have special rights privilege funds everything. Constitution differentiates. Because... they have unity in voting. From start they are a vote bank. So they have muslim personal law , state funding of madarssa , wakf board , halal economy , exclusive schools universities etc. And no one dares to touch these provisions.
Now as far as hindus go.. Constitutionally there temple funding is confiscated by government. Its given to madarsa molvi pastor etc. Its also utilized by state for other purpose. Its not audited. The temple boards have political people and IAS etc. They can be of any religion. So you can understand where the money is going. And why hindu temples are dirty. Do not have gurukuls or free langars. They are very shabbily managed. Neglected.
So all citizens are not equal.

Caste system is the introduction by the British. Hindus believe in Varna-System and not the caste system.
Ramayana and Mahabharata, both were composed by those who fall in the category of Shudra, as per the present Christian/Muslim standards.

Brahman (Brahm in Hindi) is the "monotheistic God" in Vedas...
There are 10 things Hindus need to practise....
    1. Dharma - Righteousness/Ethical deeds. Any humanitarian deed is considered righteousness or ethical. Helping someone, doing the benefits of others. Using your knowledge to do good deeds and not using your knowledge to manipulate or harm and hurt others.
    2. Ahimsa - Non-Violence...It is strictly forbidden to hurt or harm someone verbally and physically unless the person is trying to harm you then you can use violence to defend yourself as a last option...
    3. Truthfulness (Satya) - We should always speak the truth the way it. Even manipulating the truth and not saying it the way it is, is known as a lie. But that also depend on the situation. Lying to save someone's life is allowed. It is forgivable. That depends on the situation though.
    4. Compassion (Karuna) - We should have compassion for every living beings. Even killing animals and mistreating them is not allowed. We have the ability to understand the pain of others even animals when they suffer we should use our brain to help them out not harm them or k*ll them. Every living creatures have the same right as us to live on this planet. We have to appreciate them the way they are alive and breathing. I would love to see animals alive walking around too, having their own fun with their own family. Empathy forms part of it all.
    5. Asteya (Stewardship) - means non stealing....We should never steal or rob someone...It is better to ask something than stealing it but even if people steal in a hard time, that is also forgivable but it depends on the circumstances...
    6. Brahmacharya (Self Control) - A person should strictly control his own behaviour as no one is responsible if he does something wrong. Desires, lust, pleasures, these things can lead to being egoistic, lustful and selfish. Learn how to control your mind and senses before you end up like a mad horse. Not because someone is beautiful and handsome you will desire to have intercourses with them. Yes having desires like that is natural but you are human and you are supposed to control these urges. Even the urges of stealing something etc...
    7. Santosha (contentment) - Here it simply means finding happiness in peacefulness...That is by practising deep mindfulness...Meditation and Yoga..Reciting peaceful mantras to calm the violent and restless waves of your own mind...
    8. Aparigraha - That has to do with greed! You need to stay away from greedy and jealousy...Detach yourself from materialism stop lamenting over small things becoming too obsessed with material things is not good because everything is just temporary...Nobody is going to carry anything along with them after leaving this world...We are all here temporarily....learn to make a difference...Change to become better and grow and learn from your mistakes, from the slaps that life itself gives you...Like Lord Krishna says to Arjuna in the battlefield..."Nothing here is permanent. What belongs to you right now, once belonged to someone else in the past, and that will also belong to someone else in the future when you will not be here anymore...So why do you lament??"
    9. Tapas - Penance. You need to discipline yourself. And not like the Quran says, a man should disc!pline their wives by str!king them 😂😂😂 no!! You need to discipline yourself. Train your mind to listen to you!! Do not allow your mind to control you....Whatever the mind says you will follow?? Nope!! Change that attitude and you will be more at peace...You are the master of your own self!! Nothing can make you do things you know you should not do!!
    10. Shaucha or Shuddhata (Cleanliness) - both from the internal and external...Cleanliness means to always remain clean from the external that is you clean your house, you take showers, you stay away from impurities and you don't allow negative things to affect you mentally as well (that is internal cleanliness) you don't allow any negativity get inside of you...You have shielded your brain (trained your brain for it) you are a good human being from inside and from outside you are clean in everyday you can think of...
    11. If you do all these you attain Moksha happily.

Lubna mam, the area of our country where I live in a mainly a belt of western UP where mostly lord Shiva is worshipped. You should come and visit during the savan month when the worshipers bring the water of the Ganga river, carrying it on their shoulders from Haridwar to their cities and towns to bade the shivling in their temples. You will be surprised to know that this year the number of people who took part in this ritual was over 4 crores. More than the population of many countries. It is just unbelievable to watch that size of people on the roads with DJs playing music. The culmination is on the shivratri day.

4 Vedas, 108 Upanishad, 18 Puran, 1 Bhagvad geeta, 2 epics like Ramayan and Mahabharat 😅 hard to read but if you really want to find answers in life I will recommend Upanishads, you can find them merged in one concise and explained through small stories.
Or just listen Osho and chill.
I never heard about Manusmriti till I came on internet I don't know how much value it holds in hinduiam bcz laws of Manu were his own philosophical thoughts

Lubna - Im glad to see that you picked this one… I was one of the viewers who suggested you to check this one out as beginners guide to basic principles..
Just one thing to remember.. in Sanatan all Deities and Gods are just manifestation of Brahman (the supreme being also called Parameshwar)… which is why every Sanatani is free to choose which God he/she considers suoreme.. or doesn’t even believe in God

The sound of ॐ is heard only when your mind is completely silent, when you have gone beyond all language, all thinking, when there is pure silence, not even a ripple. Suddenly you hear a music.
There is no instrument playing it. It seems it is simply the very heartbeat of existence.
Hari Om Tat Sat: the divine sound - that is the truth… It is one of the mahavakyas, the great sayings which have been embedded in the hearts of the mystics since eternity. It is not something theoretical, not something philosophical, it is something existential.
Those who have gone within themselves have always heard a strange sound, which can only be called the sound of existence itself. It is difficult to reduce that sound into language.
Hence for centuries, as far back as we can go, Om, the sound, has been represented not by any alphabetical word but by a symbol.
This sound of Om is our very truth, is our very being. We are made of it. The whole existence vibrates, and through different vibrations of the same sound there are different things, but they are simply different vibrations.
A certain vibration creates a tree, another vibration creates a bird, another vibration creates a man, but the whole existence, according to the mystics, is made of sound. This sound is certainly the most sacred, the most divine, because there is nothing more beautiful, nothing more ecstatic.
Once you have heard it, even from far away… just a glimpse and you will never be the same person again. 👇👇

I believe they missed one important part in this chapter. Hindu Dharma tells you to love, respect and worship women as still as of now, we believe that "shakti" or inner strength is actually a lady who is the wife or better half of Shiva. Together they are called..Shiv-Shakti. If Shakti is not present in a man, He becomes very weak. We worship Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati who depict different aspects of Feminine and represents Power, Wealth and Knowledge which generally helps a person in building a life.

Hi Lubna, nice of you to take interest in Hinduism. In this video you learnt briefly about Lord Shiva and his third eye. As per scriptures his abode is on Mount Kailash in the Himalayas.
You may find it interesting that no one has ever been able to climb this mountain till date though people achieved a climb on mount Everest which is nearby.
From the space when satellites saw Mount Kailash, they found a huge structure looking like Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati.
