  • The Clean Energy Council has backed green hydrogen commitments in the federal budget. Chief executive Kane Thornton said they ensure Australia is back in the global race to secure investment in the sector. Companies that produce green hydrogen will get a tax incentive of $2 per kilogram from 2027-28 for up to ten years. The Hydrogen Headstart program is also getting more cash over the next decade. There's $7 billion Critical Minerals Production Tax Incentive valued at ten per cent of processing and refining costs. The announcements are part of $22.7 billion Future Made in Australia plan to turn the country into a renewable superpower, as well as support strategic industries.
