I have a boston scientific stimulator implant and I love it
I had the first trial with Medtronics, did not like it. My Doctor asked if I would try Boston scientific, I did, and it was amazing, I especially liked the silent mode. I had it for 5 years, unfortunately I was diagnosed with Cancer in 2021, so I had to get it removed in order to do the scans they wanted. But, I highly recommend Boston scientific!!!!!!
Thank you for your input and the very best of health. It would seem you have had more than a fair share or ailments.
I have used Medtronic, as well as St. Jude and do not promote any one brand.
I think individual variations help us chose.
Boston Scientific does make an MRI compatible system.
Best regards.
Sekhar Upadhyayula, MD
@@sekharu3288 Thank you for your reply, I just preferred Boston due to the silent mode it had. But, once again, thank you for your videos!!!!! And good luck to everyone getting this implant!! :)
You are indeed an inspiration to those about to embark on this journey. Living with chronic pain is among the worst mentally and physically for those who suffer and their loved ones. as always, I wish you the best of health.
The video is good. Very informative but I almost couldn't hear because of the music.
Thank you and yes the music was distracting. We usually have Sinatra or opera in the office but I should have turned off for the video.
Could hardly understand a single word … 🙊
I wish I could hear better
I had the exact same pain and used Boston scientific I’m almost pain free
Great. Stay healthy and active.
Many of the companies are good and have their different advantages. Recently Nevro was approved for diabetic neuropathy. Great news. As our arsenal grows to fight pain we will be able to help more patients.
@@sekharupadhyayulam.d.4828 I have the Nevro one. I just got it may 5th of last year then I had to have a revision done ten weeks ago as I had a traumatic injury that happened to me and I had messed up the leads really bad.
@@rachelscott5412 I’m very sorry to hear that. Perhaps your physician can replace these leads assuming no contraindications and the indications remain the same.
I wish you the very best of health.
I have the same one and garbage then put in a paddle and garbage but the trial was great 5 days
Cant wait to get my permanent SCS from Boston. I had an L4-5 Fusion a month after i turned 25, and ever since i've gone from left back and leg pain to right sided back and leg pain due to scarring. My rep with Boston is phenomenal. Hopefully getting it in the next 2ish weeks and im getting it with a paddle lead
All the best of health to you and hope this makes you feel better. I assume you’ve already had a successful trial. That’s the key really. All too often I see patients who have not had a successful trial who go on to have implantation. Obviously, if the trial was not successful, the implantation is not going to be any better.
I don’t promote any particular product, as I have used them all, I do think that Boston Scientific makes an excellent device. Would love to know how you do two months post procedure.
any updates?
I am going to get this soon thank you for the video
Good luck. Hope you trial and implant went well.
Started my trial two days ago, already had slippage. Feels like might be helping the burning and stinging pain in lower legs and feet but not the L5 facet pain caused from a poor fusion
Good luck Kelly.
This is not official medical advice of course but you may ask your doctor about the facet pain and possible lumbar medial branch block. It is harder after a fusion but I have had some success especially if two blocks are employed followed by an Radiofrequency Ablation.
SCS has difficulty covering facet pain.
The very best of health to you.

Is the patient sedated at all during this procedure? If I am having issues in the Sacrum and lower lumbar is there another point of entry if pain is above the sacrum L5-L1? Side effects? I read a side effects could be loss of bladder and bowel functions?
Yes, the patient is sedated during the trial. Initially, sedation can be a bit deeper. Then as the electrodes are placed, the patient is usually allowed to be more awake. The testing ( not all SCS require testing) should be with the patient more awake and able to respond,
Good Luck.
I’m getting ready to do a trial. I’m really concerned w the battery placement. I have buttock pain on both sides & I’m thin. Im also concerned about ruling out future sleep positions if say, a have shoulder pain & now I have no comfortable way to lay. Is there any way to put the battery in the abdominal area?
Good luck to you an thanks for your insightful comment. Yes it is possible to place on the flank area. Please discuss all options for battery placement.
How was the trial?
My trial scs is in 2 weeks. I am excited and scared. Can't wait to feel the pain reduction.
How was the trial?
any updates?
Been in pain for over a year tried everything please help me they r trying to tell me it’s mentally.
So you can have more then one program run at the same time?
Yes, there are different modes you can program. I would highly suggest that you get with the representative and work with them.
Very true. working with the rep and medical provider is indeed the way to go
As always, I wish you the best of health.

My trial for the pain stimulator is Tomorrow!!! I'm sooo excited and soo nervous. I feel very hopeful that I will have a significant amount of pain relief. 😁
I need this too. Can u tell me, how do you feel now, it works????
@@christhomson6244 yes it works tremendously!!! After I got it implemented it I was in soo much pain and sooo sore. The pain is from the surgery itself though. My back pain is sooo much better now. I am able to sit now for the first time in 13 years. It's sooo worth getting it. Insurance is a pain in the butt though. My Dr had to fight them and it was not pretty at all. Dr had to get very ugly with the insurance company. My Dr told me that it would take 3-4 months for me to heal because my body never does well with recovery time. You can't bend or anything for 6-8 weeks because you can pull the leads out of its place plus the scar tissues have to build up to keep them in place plus the battery as well.

Thanks for answering, I hope you keep improving
I hope you continue to improve Ms Scott.
The featured patient above is also pain free and looking forward to resuming all his favorite activities.
The best of health to you all!
@@sekharupadhyayulam.d.4828 Thank you so much!! It has given me a lot of pain relief and I am able to be more active I'm soo thankful for the pain stimulator. It is my life savor.
Are you under general anesthesia for implant
General anesthesia is contraindicated for a trial.
Light non opioid sedation with generous local anesthesia is all I have used.
Depending on the spinal cord system, used cooperation with the patient to identify the paint location may or may not be necessary.
The very best of help to you. Good luck.
It's very hard to hear y'all because of that irritating music!! I am looking to have scs & really interested in getting as much information as I can!
I appreciate y'all doing this video, but again I had a really hard time hearing you, the music just wasn't needed.
You are right. I need to get some talented youngster to help him sit these videos and audio.
Did you get your SCS?
Yes distracting music omg
I would not recommend Boston Scientific for several reasons....The first is subjective, it didn't work for me.Their software for adjustments is old school..It's like having a 486 chipset.Their network ,which is also subjective was impersonal.Their selling point was putting down most of my surgeons while selling their device.Remember, whatever device your choose, the company and the representatives are selling. I also feel the trial period is too short with too much pressure from the representatives.I am not saying all SCS don't work...I'm only saying Boston didn't work for me.Good fortune for you...I feel your pain.
Thank you for your candid opinion.
In my practice I have used all of the major vendors for SCS. In this instance Boston Scientific was the right choice and the trial and final implant a great success. The rep Jared spent many hours pre and post implant responding to questions and assisting the patient.
No vendor has ever pressured me or my patient to accept a permanent implant. That is a mutual decision between the patient and the doctor. My rule is simple. During the trial period my patient has to convince me the SCS is better than sliced bread metaphorically or I consider the SCS option a no go. The trial period is always one week regardless of the manufacturer because of infection risks for longer trials. This is agreed upon by the studies and most Interventionists.
I wish you the best of luck and thank you for taking the time to post a comment.
Great video, but the music was distracting. :(
Absolutely. I am trying to get the music removed and re attached to this video that has become so popular.
The music was annoying while explaining the procedure.
Don’t do it! Try Calmare Therapy first! I am on my 6th treatment out of 10. From a 10+pain level to a 2-3. Check it out!
well congrats to you then
Buyer BEWARE!!!!! This is the worst mistake I’ve ever made in my whole life. I’ve gone from having abdominal pain to a wheelchair.
Sorry to hear that. Abdominal pain is not really an indication for this procedure. The best of health to you.
Too bad there's so much background noise in this presentation. Hard to hear.
So true. I am trying to fix this. I appreciate your help.
Turn that music off !
You are right. Didn’t realize the music was so loud.
Next round of videos I will get someone to help properly. Thank you.
Turn off your music it's louder than the doctors voice 😂
I have Boston Scientific working well so far. I had pain between shoulder blades for a little over a week after surgery. The music in this presentation is terrible, sounds like doctors office is in a mall.
Happy to hear the device is working well. And ugh. Yes the audio is quite annoying. I hope to one day soon link this to the same video that has been cleaned up a bit.
Thank you and the best of health!!
Sekhar
This would have been so much better to watch if you got rid of the music. I decided not to finish watching cause i couldn't hear.
You are so right. I am working on editing and making links to new cleaned up videos. Thank you.
,,,,, qu'est-ce que vous voulez qu'on fasse la vous parlez pas français alors vous expliquer pour rien parler français j'y comprendrais
Could you please turn the music down it's very annoying trying to listen to the dr speak with that opera music playing in the back ground.
