Hi JB, this quad is really nice. I have the vista version, the only real thing I didn't like was the tune. I still have some improvements to do but now it's tuned the way I like and I really enjoy it.
Imo the Roma F5 is the most beautiful frame so far
If you want to use with Ghost receiver and telemtry., then use not the Tx1s, I used TX3 and it works perfect.

Hey Joshua! I just got a quick question for you. So recently I had bought new goggles for fpv. The goggles I purchased were the sky zone O2C. I also had bought some batteries for them that were listed in the description of the page. My question is that I don’t know how to decide on what type of battery charger I need. I have no idea where to start on finding and purchasing the correct one. The battery I bought was a 7.4v 2s 3000mAh lipo battery. If you can please help make figure out which one to choose and/or tell me how to decide which one. Thanks so much.
Hey Josh.. the heads of the screws for the antenna mount are a little too wide, which stops the antennas base from seatings correctly.. I fixed 4 Roma's by shaving down those screw heads.. Afterwards, the antenna sits snug.. enjoy.

For those that have the Diatone Roma F5 V2 and are trying to connect a FR Sky Qx7 2.4 GHz ACCST make sure you flash the firmware on the rxsr receiver first and this should work perfect. Djalee fpv does a good walkthrough of it and I highly recommend watching it.

How do you know if BetaFlight is compatible with a flight controller? I'm a total noob so sorry if this is a dumb question.
Just as an FYI, I couldn't get my Spektrum SPM4650 to work on the standard TX1 port. I had to wire it to the TX5 port to get things working as intended. Admittedly, I'm a novice, but I wanted to mention this as I spent a couple hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Then I switched to the TX5 pad and things worked fine.

Hi Josh, just want to know if you or anyone else is having trouble connecting to betaflight or Inav? Mine has worked fine along with the impulse rc driver fixer for years but now as we are coming out of lockdown I decided to update everything and I cannot connect to either. It just says an error occured while entering bootloader. any ideas?

Roma F5 V2 BNF comes with a clear heat shrink for a receiver. No need to buy the clear tape.
Can I uses this same radio set up for my Tx12 for my any of my Frsky receiver drones? Trying to set and bind my Fly fox nano 3 ..
Hey Joshua, on the video transmitter tab my channels only allow 1 through 5 on the Raceband band. It also restricts me from going any higher than 25 in power. Any suggestions? A possible beta flight issue?
Such a great tune out of the box, of course I spent hours black boxing 4.2.5 anyway after a couple weeks..... but. It is solid right from DT
I ordered a few sets of the snap on stack covers for all my other freestyle quads. They fit pretty much everything. It helps keep the stack clean plus it seemed like a good place to scribe my Fun Allowance Account (FAA) number on.

Does that have the Mamba F405 FC? I've heard that has issues with the R-XSR and telemetry, something about needing to setup soft serial or soldering pads...

Hello Joshua, i am not able to setup the GPS correctly. The osd seems works but when i turn on the rescue mode. The quad starts to spin or just fly away and stop the motors. I think that the fail is in baud rate of GPS. Can you please share the GPS settings

Unfortunately Roma5 mamba stack comes with BLHELI S and does not support esc rpm or telemetry. At least mine doesn't. Mine came with The Diatone mamba F404us Dji board. The ESC is the Mamba F50pro 50amp 4in 1 but seems I cant get telemetry from R6 or bidirectional since I believe those ESC to be BLheli S and not 32 like Helidirect told me it was.
Hello joshua i had a problem with this quad i crashed and now my video has super low brightness i still see picture but super low brightness i changed my vtx i changed my wires and i dont seem to find the answer anythjng i can do ?

What firmware for rsxr, I can't get accst firmware to move the sticks, will my older accst work if I turn off smartport
Joshua, can crossfire nano use the pre installed wire harness that comes installed on the fc? The diagram says crossfire is soldered to the bottom of the fc and the harness on the fc is on the left where the diagram calls out rxsr. The Roma PNP kit came with two loose RX wiring harnesses one of which was marked RXSR and the other was not marked at all but did have four pins and matches the nano pin out.
🥺 I think I just fried my new FC, I had a smoke stopper plugged in but I was setting it up in betaflight then 5 minutes after i plugged it in it smoked and now when I turn it on it only beeps like twice and only 2 light on FC 🙉🙈

I just purchased one and the Bidirectional DShot is not turned on. Do you recommend doing this? Also, my VTX Table was all jacked up and only had one range 25mw. Downloaded the table and set the ranges and they work fine. 25 - 200 - 400 it is on Betaflight 4.1.3
I just got mine and i was going over JB rpm filter setup but im not sure it will work, i keep getting motor errors during the motor test. my quad came with the mamba F50 Pro how about you?
@@paulsantarsiero9718 Mine came with Mamba F411 AIO w/ 25A 4in1 ESC with the spit nano it has to be one board. I am not a fan of the Split Camera but figured I would try it. What version of BetaFlight did yours come with?

@@paulsantarsiero9718 4.1.3 is a good version I have it on several of my Quads. If it is working I would leave it alone and enjoy flying. 🍍
@@Pineapple22 Thanks that's a good tip, i need to do that more. I feel i spend more time playing with setting then enjoying them sometimes. Just wish i could figure out the Bidirectional thing, i always worry about damaging something as im still new to a lot of this. It Great having JB to guide us with a lot of this.

by default mamba ultra 1000 is locked a power unit that is available is 25 mW. can you explain how to unlock other options?
Press and hold the vTX button for 15 seconds. When unlocked the power led will stay solid instead of the green led flashing.

it is one of the best drones I have had. I put it at the same level as my super well-tuned 6 "alien (old scool;) but with an easier sd blackbox ..) ... (I would have liked 6" arms for it .. but hey .. it is not so expensive, fly well, the only thing I regret: the blackbox is (I don't know too much .. 16mb? 32mo?) that's really not enough! an sd card slot would have been cheaper for them, and better for us; )
When I plug my Roma F5 in, I see this error:
"Attention: Your VTX is not configured or not supported. So you can't modify the VTX values from here. This will only be possible if the flight controller is attached to the VTX using some protocol like Tramp or SmartAudio and is correctly configured in the Ports tab if needed."
Any idea why my Betaflight isn't recognizing the Vtx?

I can't get the R-XSR to power up using just the usb. Contacted Diatone and they said I have to plug the battery for the receiver to power up... A bit strange I think since Joshua can power up the receiver using just the usb. What is correct, and what can I do. Anything to do with the settings in betaflight, or do I need another receiver?
You may not have the same FC that I do. I believe the analog quad has different FC than the DJI one. There is no setting you can use to change this -- it's a characteristic of the design of the FC.

Can i turn telemetry on if i have already bound my taranis x9 lite to my tinawhoop with a R-SXR with telemetry turned off by accident?
i chose ch 9-16 telemetry off when binding first time. Can i change it to ch1-8 telemetry on in the model settings even though its already bound with 9-16 tele off?

That's not something that can be changed via settings. The only thing I can think is you soldered to a different 5v pad. Typically only one of the 5v pads powers from USB. The one next to the TX1 / RX1 pads.

Hey JB! First i wanna thank you for all the great content and getting me in to the hobby. Been at it for less than a year and have 7 quads by now so my girls isn't as happy :) Second, a question for you, How come you didnt use F.Port on TX 1 instead of the smartport tab on TX5? Access and F.Port can handle it all on 1 wire or am i missing something? I convinced a friend of mine to get the ROMA f5 v2 and thats how I did it on his cuz TX/RX5 was already used for the gps unit. Is he missing out on anything? Should i change it? He's using the RXSR with F.Port/ACCESS. Thanks again for the great content!

My receiver wont turn on if the battery isn't plugged in on my Roma f5.

@@gm_stian I'd guess you are getting your rx power from vbat and not from the +5v. Perhaps you already checked this, and apologies if it's a dumb suggestion. On my other quads I learned that VBAT is direct battery voltage (whatever volts your battery is) and the =v is regulated voltage from the FC, which can be powered by 5v over USB or the battery, or both.

Just got this pnp/bnf kit and it's got me trying to figure out the best way to mount the battery in order to keep the jst balance charging plug from getting hit by the props. Actually having that same problem with a 7 inch drone as well, and I destroyed a couple batteries on that one. Just took reorienting the battery, but I can't find a good orientation on this with a 6s battery that keeps that plug safe. Is there anyone out here that can give a noob some tips on not killing my batteries?
Use a rubber band around the battery to secure the balance wire.

@@JoshuaBardwell The "instructions" I got with my kit specifically cautioned against mounting the receiver right over the VTX, which is weird. They give you the little plates for it and everything. I ended up remixing a 3d model from thingiverse to both mount my r-xsr in it and protect it from pointy ground. It now lives under the VTX, separated from it by the cf frame. Don't know that it actually mitigated interference or not, but it worked and I was able to use the provided antenna tubes in the existing TPU mount. Will share if anyone wants the stl for it.

20:42 i found this out the hard way. My leg got ripped to shreds when they spooled up while plugged in to configurator, 13 stitches to hold the muscle together. Looked like a set of wide open lips on my calf. Luckily the blades just missed my jugular vein by bouncing off my shoulder and slamming into the ceiling, and I'm still here to enjoy life. Crazy how important it is to remove those blades. I was over confidant and grossly misjudged my abilities and learned a very valuable lesson in patience and attention to detail. Hopefully no one else makes this mistake, it was nuts!!

Hey I just wanted to say thanks for the hubsan 501s esc so cheap awhile back on eBay an it been awhile back 5 months ago or more. An if it was not u then I'm sorry . Anyway I've been trying to into this for last year. I sure many lost few of the first drones so im at the point were ive been ordering stuff to do my own build. I have had a few bugs drones a few hubsan's. But time to build my own Ive been ordering A peice or 2 at a time. Don't really have a computer so I decided to go with the kk flight controller with the lcd display. Does betaflight have an app that you could hook you quad up to your phone an do all the setup on you phone.I've had a betafpv radio lite 2 controller for awhile now still haven't used it. Only thing I have left is to come up with the money for a pair of fpv goggles. I just hope I got the right receiver. What the best budget pair of fpv goggles would you recommend.

Hey Joshua! I appreciate all of the work you put into these vids. Do you know of anyone that has done a video on syncing the Roma F5 DJI HD to a DJI FPV remote? I just purchased a Roma F5 6s along with DJI goggles v2 and I had the DJI FVP remote from a recent purchase. I am unsure how to sync the goggles and the remote to the quad properly. Thanks in advance!

If you bind first, then you can verify that the receiver and aux modes are working correctly.

Yes definitely. Lower latency and automatic telemetry over the same UART.
I recommend everyone who got 6s version of this quad check ESC version. 6s version is supposed to have MAMBA F50PRO with biheli32 firmware. But mine came with more cheaper MAMBA F50 non-PRO with biheli_s. I had to write to their support, so they send me replacement PRO-version ESC. Haven't recieved it yet. Any way when i receive it, im gonna have to re-solder it.
Just keep it as spare and flash your S with JESC for rpm filtering
