Since we are all given love to HF, I will do you guys even one better, I graduated to not only HF being my all time favorite A Cappella band, but my favorite band of all time after following them for the last 10 years, and being an old classic rocker and have heard all the great bands over my lifetime, I had come to the conclusion a few years back there has never been an overall talented group of guys that have consistently performed at a top level on literally everything they have done musically. Even the great bands were known for certain songs that showed their greatness, but never for every piece of music they published. Vocally, HF is unmatched having the richest harmonies on the planet. But it is their character and personalities that are as great as their vocal talents and they always leave the listener with a sense of joy, warmth, and peace in their soul.
The way they seamlessly trade off the lead is exquisite. Any of the four can lead an entire song, but the sharing allows each of them to bring their own unique voice when they deem it necessary.
This song helped me move on with my life after my wife passed. We lived 6.5 hours drive time from my nearest family. I was lost and just rattling around in an empty house. This song helped me to focus on what I needed. I bought an acre of land and a nice double wide. I'm roughly 10 miles out in the country, but only 10 miles from my son, his wife and my two granddaughters. Take Me Home Country Roads and it did. I'm at peace with my life, with my home and with my family. Even have two nieces and a nephew nearby as well.I still miss her with all my heart, and think of her everyday, and love our life together. But this is home until the Lord calls me home. Thanks to Home Free.

I don't remember Denver's original arrangement leaning on chords as complex as these. The thing about John Denver was his simple tenor beautifully carrying beautiful lyrics. Home Free's translation into a cappella brought in some gorgeous chord transitions and vocal runs that made this version their own. A tribute to Denver no less, I believe he would have loved it!
I'm a WVU alumnus. That may not mean as much to you, but it does to me. This was our alma mater. Every football game this was sung, the whole stadium would sing it for every game, and that was really something. But then Home Free comes around and actually does it justice? WTF (What the Foust?). Aside: I'm a huge John Denver fan. My dad sung this song to me every night when I was a little girl, and he had a wonderful tenor voice, so this one is really it for me. Thanks for listening to this. Home Free History Lesson! During their 2018 European Tour, they had Jeffrey East as their opening act for the whole tour. Before Jeffery came on stage, they played regular songs through the speakers, and one of those songs, right before Jeffrey walked out, was John Denver's original. It quickly became a huge thing because we would all sing along, loudly to it. This was before the band had released the song, but they had recorded it, which we didn't know about at the time. Let's just say that they were blown away that we knew the song so well here in Europe and delighted by how much we seemed to love it. Now they do it live at their concerts, at least here in Europe, and it's the most magical moment because we ALL sing along, loudly, and the guys absolutely LOVE it. They all have huge smiles from ear to ear. There would be several live videos here on RUclips from various locations around Europe of this phenomenon. It blew my mind that the song is so well-known in Europe. I found that out by accident when I saw Germans singing it in English at Oktoberfest on RUclips. As an American, it's rather surprising. Another surprising example of Europeans singing American music is the Liverpool soccer club in the UK singing You'll Never Walk Alone as their theme song. How an inspirational song sung by a nun from an American musical became a UK sports anthem is a total mystery.

Chance doesn't take the lead to often but if you want to hear his glorious voice listen to their "I Can't Outrun Her" it's sensational. Also, his collaboration with The Hound and the Fox on "Wayfaring Stranger " is exquisite.

Love this song and of course love their harmonies and arrangement of this classic. As many times as I've listened to this, it still sent chills through me. I too am drawn to Chance. I love them all but something about Chance really draws me in. I think it goes back to their Sea Shanty Medley. I came across that one early on in my Home Free experience. He took the lead in that and I love the sea and that whole genre and he just looked and sounded the part. So I have gravitated toward Chance ever since, no matter what they are singing. Loved this and your reactions and agree, Home Free is the best.
I have loved this song since John Denver released it back in 1971. (Yes, I am that old) I think it is perfectly fine to have favorites in their songs and in their individual voice contributions, as a matter of fact I too have a favorite. My favorite Home Free member is who ever is performing at the moment including beat boxing. But as a whole together their harmonies go straight to my heart like a great big Grandfather hug. I think their down to earth personalities and sense of humor when they are not singing is a huge factor in making that Home Free alchemy does it's magic and captivates a reality that we would all like to live in. Beautiful reaction. I understand that the guys worked on this cover for three years to get it right because it is such an iconic song. John Denver was killed much too early in a plane crash in 1997. The country road that they are walking on is actually not in West Virginia or any of the other eastern states that have the Blue Ridge Mountains that is mentioned in the song.. The Blue Ridge Mountains actually do have a bluish haze and coloring over them, hence the name. They are part of the Appalachian Mountains which are the oldest mountains in the world. Whenever the tints of the landscape are more golden in films, it is usually shot in the western states. I still recommend their live performance of Songs That Didn't Make the Cut. It shows Home Free's treatment of Bubble Gum pop songs. It has Tim twerking.
