Toriyama's creature designs are all so unique. I love how expressive he makes them. It's one thing to dragon, but it's another entirely to draw a dragon that looks like l can actually sit down and have a conversation with. Respect king.

The new ones are still just like this. For example, Runny Eggsoskeleton is an Egg Shaped Exoskeleton that is good at Running. It is from the latest main series game, released in 2017.
Most of these are the newer names (or the only English names for the newer creatures). And that's more accurate to the Japanese in spirit, if not in detail, since their Japanese names tend to be Japanese wordplay that doesn't translate directly. The NES-era translations were fairly uncreative in the name department (despite being competent otherwise), and the GBC/PS1 names were atrocious (terrible abbreviations caused for one game's character limit got shoved into other games, and way too many are "Mad" this or "Evil" that). The punny names became the standard in English starting with Dragon Quest VIII.

Got my fingers crossed you picked Dr Snapped at some point, both cos he's my fave monster design in the series and also nobody in their right mind would guess "yep that's a qualified medical professional" looking at a zombie hand blob. Would be a great fit for these quizzes! Also I gotta say this is a great way to tribute toriyama, I'm sure if he's looking down on us from the afterlife he'd be absolutely stoked to see a funny quiz show about his wonderful monsters.
Good idea to use that monster: quiz of human villains who turned into monsters. Try and match the human design to what they turn into! You could easily do a trick question with Dr Snap/Dr Snapped because his monster form looks wildly different but there's also Exorcus, an entirely unrelated monster wearing a similar outfit. I think you could also get a lot of confusion with Corvus fallen angel form and Jasper, if you cropped a Corvus pic to hide the angel wings you'd just have two blond guys and two blond monsters.
Salute to Toriyama o7 DBZ was one of my first anime. Another series I think you could have a field day with is Ace Attorney. Most of the side characters' names in these games are puns. I think you'd have fun with that.
Can you guys please do a quiz using Digimon that are created by dna digivolving/fusing 2 or more digimon together, and having to choose from a list of Digimon names to find which digimon are not included in the fusion to make that/those digimon? I think that'd be a funny game!
Before I even watch this, I gotta say that DQ Monsters scratched my Pokemon itch when I was waiting for new games (or when I was in college and was flat out unable to spare cash for new Pokemon games). The series takes the goofiness if Akira Toriyama’s style and runs with it. The monsters are not cool edge like Digimon nor are they marketable as hell like Pokemon, but they strike something in between that fits right in. Some of my favorite monsters are very punny like the Vegandragora, but others like the Night Clubber and the Prism Peacock somewhat goofy, yet imposing at the same time. Looking forward to the potential rage these punny names will elicit from these poor victims. Round 2: Note that Yellow Zucchinis do exist, so I give that a pass. Edit 1: As a long time fan of DQ, some of these guys don’t show up often, or have so many variants that it is hard to keep track. The fact ya managed to make them seem believable (cause they would definitely name a Boss variant of the Dingaling the Bellhop of the Belfry) says that this series meshes well with your sense of humor!
Bronzong looks like a bell lel. And Chingling is classified as a bell Pokemon, of which I keep forgetting exists beyond its cry in the anime lol. Also I think that blue bell is possessed by satan or something with those red af eyes lol

Notso Macho, Mucho Macho & Macho Picchu. Chihuawyrm, Spitzfire & Labradrake. Weartiger, Shabby cat & Cheater cheetah. Dragonthorn, Snapdragon & frost wyvine. Wax murderer, Killer torch & Wickerman. Mecha-mynah, Robo-robin & Clockwork cuckoo. And probably a whole episode just with slime variants.
