This piece is an score isolated from the very important operatic output of Schreker. He excelled in that domain, and it is indeed a pity to have forgotten his opras, as for instance those of Zemlinsky or Korngold. Coming back to this score, the orchestration is very brillant, and the choregraphic feeling is present all along the score, though often in a veiled way.
