Why spend time with someone you love if you can't get them by the balls financially and have a nice payday lined up, right? We still have the pre-industrial punitive divorce laws written when women couldn't have a career, but with no-fault divorce. It's turned the incentive structure upside down. A woman is rewarded and INCENTIVIZED to scratch that 7 year itch

I agree she looks really good in it. However, my favorites are definitely her pastels... The soft beiges and the light pinks, etc, really bring out this gentle princess-like quality she exudes.

I suspect that anybody who was trying to avoid paying for a Wedding would show themselves as such - that kind of thing is hard to hide in a relationship. Being thrifty is a different thing & not a bad one but a Wedding is important; though obvs the marriage is what matters 🙏🙏

I am seeing this 18 months after your wedding, but since you asked about early marriages, I thought I would still post. My now husband of 25 years and I were in 2 different countries, with schedules that were packed, and suddenly realized that we could both be free in 2 weeks. We had a civil wedding and were lined up with an unusual crew of characters by 8:30 in the morning, and were number 2 on the docket. We didn't know we needed a witness for a civil wedding so the father of the bride before us stayed to be a witness. We then went to the airport and shared a muffin and a coffee after which I flew alone back to my country, and my husband went back to his next music performance that night. No photos, no honeymoon, and total secrecy for many reasons, and here we are in our 70's. The relationship was what mattered, not the fairy tale day :)
A wedding doesn't make the marriage. Your elegant and simple civil ceremony speaks volumes to your dedication to your new husband. The weddings that are over the top and are all about the "look at me" vibe usually spell disaster for the marriage. Smart choice, Ana! And congratulations to you both. I am Lebanese, I have been in the U.S. for 12 years now. You are absolutely right, Lebanese weddings are the BEST. I had my Lebanese Wedding party in Lebanon and the official wedding in the U.S. since my husband is American. My Lebanese party was like One Thousand and One Night. The American wedding was very simple and elegant. CONGRATULATIONS!!

I am touched that you mentioned dealing with Graves’ disease. Thank you for being so open and honest. It helps people like me with other autoimmune diseases remember that many people are affected, even if they don’t show it. It helps me remember that almost everyone has some health issue that they deal with, but we can still be beautiful and elegant ladies despite these challenges.
I absolutely agree as I have rheumatoid arthritis which is also an autoimmune disease. But that won’t stop me from trying to be elegant. Thank you for the inspiration.

That’s a great love story. There’s SO much to be said for a man that will travel constantly to see his women and invest so much time & money. That’s amazing and what you deserved. From my last relationship, I’ve learned not to waste my time with any man that won’t do things like this for me.
My fiancé is Swedish and I'm Brazilian. We had a long distance relationship for nearly 3 years and he traveled to Brazil many times to see me. Now we have been living together in Sweden for nearly two years. Meanwhile I have a friend in a 5 year relationship with a guy who lives a street away from her and he never makes any effort to see her 🤷♀️

Anna! This was such an amazing story and video! I love how you laugh and giggle about the day. I too had a civil wedding (many years ago) and always thought I would have a second ceremony, but its never bothered me or come up! We travel so much tat we feel like we are on honeymoon all the time. Just enjoying each other- and at the end of the day thats whats important. I have a few friends and family who had the big ceremony and ALL OF THEM are divorced.... 🤔
I'm so proud of you establishing engagement/marriage dates early on. This is what we need to be doing instead hanging around waiting for him to propose. (6m to 1 year is a great dating period before engagement)
6 months is too short to get to know his true personality. The honeymoon phase already takes up 3 months so unless you want to contribute to the divorce rate of people who didn’t know their partners until a few month after the wedding, i’d suggest slowing down. There’s no rush

Why would you not have full wedding gown in civil marriage? It's not dedicated only for a church. Except that not everyone is going to have a church wedding because they just don't believe in God. Wedding gown can be whatever you like as it's your wedding.
@@darinakalinova2180 I think if a couple decide on a civil wedding, it's clearly different values (all good, not judging in any way!) and a different vibe. A traditional 'bridal' gown in a civil service seems out of place. I love Anna's choice. It's pared down elegance - and different values at play.
I would opt for a wedding like hers with few people and less expenses over any traditional wedding where you invite people you havent even met in in your entire life and spending fortune on them any day.

I have a couple acquitances who had a wedding in 2020 and this gave opportunities to some beautiful, intimate garden ceremonies with only a few people invited. I just love that and the commitment. My friend had a similar ceremony during the pandemic but for her celebration afterward there was a drive-by reception. She waved and greeted them from the sidewalk at the park and they stayed in their cars but were able to give their best wishes to her. I heard about a lot of people doing these types of drive-by weddings.
Communicating expectations and setting boundaries right up from the get-go...those are priceless.

My civil ceremony in Queens, NY, in the early ‘90’s, on a weekday, in the early afternoon... It was just my husband, myself, my father was the witness... Just the three of us. We had a religious ceremony, at a restaurant, a few weeks later, with just our closest relatives and our best friends as witnesses...

I did a lockdown wedding too. I live on Venice beach, so we just went out to the beach for a short ceremony. My sister came, she was the only guest, the maid of honer, ring bearer, best man and photographer! I am glad we did it then, the focus was on the union, and not a party. It was really beautiful, the sunset was magic, and it was on the blue moon, so it all made sense! Much happiness to you and your husband Anna!!!!!

We had our civil wedding (10 years ago) in Munich at 10:00 am. It was a beautiful ceremony in English Garden (Englischer Garden) combined with a breakfast/brunch in a restaurant next to a lake. A year later we had a church wedding in our home country in a small castle. Both were very special to us.

Me and my husband had our marriage registered at 9 a.m.)) It was November, chilly and foggy, and it was also a weekday, I believe it was Wednesday or Thursday. We could not even have a glass of champagne to celebrate because the restaurants were still closed)
Last year we celebrated our 10th anniversary)

Congratulations Anna! Where my parents grew up it was very normal to have a morning wedding (although usually a Sunday morning!), you would have a mass and then a wedding brunch. People might still do this and then have a dance reception in the evenings, but back then it wasn't such a big deal since they were smaller affairs, just like you had! Also yes I agree, the beautiful suit is a perfect choice for a civil ceremony!
Anna, as unconventional a wedding this was, I think that the love between you two is all that matters - still loaded with style & elegance - you had a civil wedding in Geneva, simple and great. Also respectful to the rules of the day. Hey - this could be the way weddings will be done - LOVE IN THE TIME OF COVID. You can have a big fat and fun Lebanese wedding (I've been to some with a cast of thousands and 3 days long) when the time comes. But I think you did a spectacular job, Anna. Congratulations, and wishing you both a life full of love and understanding.
I had a big wedding (to please the mother in law), but what I really wanted was a civil ceremony like yours. I would have taken your masked ceremony over mine. I'm private and simple. I regret my wedding. It's so nice to hear you laugh and smile talking about your wedding.
The first thought I had when I saw your wedding dress was that it looked just like Carrie's. Knowing how much you like that show, it made sense to me. I'm glad you chose the "simple, sweet suit" and not the outrageous one that caused all the problems lol.

My husband and I got married at 5:30am.
We met in Australia on ANZAC Day (April 25th) it marks the national day of remembrance for our (and New Zealands) brave men that landed on the beaches of Gallipoli. We celebrate a dawn service and this is where I first saw my hubby as one of the guards of honour.
He was deploying overseas for 6 months later that year, so we got married on a Friday 6 months to the day that we met.
It was so beautifu and the sun came up as we said our vowels (we married at the ANZAC monument where we met) such a perfect day and our first child was born on ANZAC day 3 years after we met! Wonderful memories 💖
