The printer was a bit complicated to hook up ruclips.net/user/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 but it does the job very efficiently. I like the ink wells versus the ink cartages that cost an arm and a leg. It prints quickly and the quality is excellent. It shuts off when not in use, so you have to remember to turn it on. Overall, it exceeds my expectations. I'll update my review in a couple of months.
This video was just what I needed! I have an HL-L2370DW, tho, but fortunately for me, the method was the same to check printer toner life. Thank you!

For the HL-2280DW press the Menu button, down arrow to Machine Info, down arrow to User Settings, press Ok, then Start. The settings page will print that includes the toner level.
I could not find online how to do it, I figured it out trial and error.

This was so helpful but my brother toner didn’t even last me 2,000 pages as it promised when I purchased it. It only gave me like less than around 200 pages. Kinda sucks that it was the actual brother toner and not a generic which cost me an arm and a leg. Would you happen to know why my toner didn’t last that long????
We're sorry for any inconvenience, please be advised that page yield is the quoted number of printed pages you can expect from one cartridge, as provided by your printer's manufacturer. The yield is an approximation based on 5%-page coverage or prints in which 5% of the page is covered with ink. Meaning, if you were to only print on 5% of the page, you will receive the full-page yield. If you are printing half to full pages or full color printer, you can expect the number to decrease by at least half. May I know if the item was purchased from us? What type of document are you using printing? When you run out after 200 pages, does the printer read an ‘error’ message that prevents you from printing? Or, are you having a quality issue (blank, faded, streaky prints)?
I did not purchase it from you guys, but I am looking to buy your product in hopes it don’t run into the same issues I’m having. It does not give me an error message, and there was no issues in printing (no streaks, fading, etc). I also didn’t have to reset my toner levels when I put in a new toner cartridge. It automatically reset on it’s own which was weird, because then why would we have your video if we didn’t need to reset it? Lol.
So, my only issue was the low yield. My brother told me to shake the toner cartridge since it’s made of powder and tends to dry up, but I didn’t feel comfortable doing that. I was afraid to get ink everywhere.
@@JennaSakura Shaking the toner cartridge can prolong the cartridge life so you might try that before buying a brand new cartridge. We recommend shaking the cartridge over a trash can, as some toner powder may escape during the process, hope this works for you!
so what does each scale mean? how many pages I can print more when I have only one bar left? thats most important info
One bar only means that the toner is close to being empty, you will get an empty toner error message once it's gone.
Do you know how a Brother printer determines how much toner is left?

We apologize, you can try rocking the toner back and forth to ensure even distribution inside before installing it again. You may also inspect the toner cartridge for some buildup, scratches, or damage. Hope this helps

I Replaced the toner and it still keeps giving me the replace toner message.
Hi Erik, We are sorry if you're having issue with the toner and it keeps giving you an error message. Please try hard reset: (1) Remove the problem cartridge, then turn off and unplug the machine for 2 minutes. (2) Try reinstalling the cartridge after the machine reboots. (3) Make sure the metal contact points on the rear of the cartridge are accessible and clean-wipe with a lint-free cloth. (4) Plug the printer back in, turn the printer on and wait for a message prompting you to install the toner cartridge (5) Then install the toner cartridge(s) and try printing a test page. If issue still persists, you may also contact us through email, chat or call us at 888-321-2552 for immediate assistance, we will certainly be here to help and hope we can make it right with you!
