In ireland health insurance should be automatically built into income tax. PRSI and USC should both have a contributions section to them that allows a healthcare savings fund to built up. Those types of moves would automatically reduce the governments health budget with in 3 years.
If this was done the waiting lists would go down over a period of time and there would be a serious investment into healthcare in Ireland.

It's a good point, but they probably would have to pull back on other areas like pensions to do so? But agreed, automated healthcare coming out before tax would be ideal

      @
Irish government healthcare budget is about €20 billion per year which is far ahead of any other EU country in terms of funding.
As it stands the PRSI and USC already have proportions that would be integrated within the health budget.
finances are not the limiting factors in regards to funding such moves. The truth is is that Irish health finances are like a black budget hole in that nobody actually knows where the money is going to.
I think if the Irish people were a little bit more aware of what is going on and what the solutions are they may demand that political change.

I've a question, please if anyone can enlighten me about the query
    1) If an international student comes to Ireland for master's degree but he/she is not physically fit like ( only living on a single kidney by birth ) how much will the health insurance cost to them, than a Actual cost of insurance? And what all things he/she has to keep in mind regarding this medical condition?

Please, I have some doubts if you don't mind.
I don't have a lot of money and also don't have medical card. So...
    1) if I have cancer and need treatment without having a health insurance plan, I'll have to pay treatment until 800 euros per 12 month or more then it?
    2) Is there discounts in revenue when I pay private health insurance plan?
    3) If I break my arm, is it better to go to GP and then to A&E? I think that way the treatment is free, but if I go to A&E I'll have to pay. I'm afraid to have an emergency in out of office hours.
Thank you in advance. And thank you for the video.

Hi Gabriel, thanks so much for your comment and kind words on the video.
Please see my responses to your questions below:
      1) correct, 800 euro per 12 months - be sure to keep your receipts - here is a link for clarification www.hse.ie/eng/about/who/acute-hospitals-division/patient-care/hospital-charges/
      2) private health insurance is tax deductible in Ireland (20% the premium I believe)
      3) if you break your arm, go to A&E. The link I sent in point #1 means you'll only have to pay 100 at most.
I am not a practicing medical doctor so take my advice with a grain of salt - great that you are thinking of these things in advance my friend- and try not to break an arm 👍

Better that Ireland sidelines and banishes these insurance parasites and adopts a full-on universal healthcare system. No more a hostage to private for-profit healthcare parasites!

Would be interesting, worked nicely in the UK when I was living there and had some check ups, but being honest living now in DE I really am an advocate for mandatory health insurance, system can support better treatments like cell therapy Ireland can't afford! An interesting one and I genuinely don't know what would be best practice!
